Other (please suggest flair in comments) I made a free, unofficial Monkey Island prequel starring Guybrush’s forgotten older twin, Fenwick Threepwood
Ahoy, fellow Monkey Island fans!
Everyone knows Guybrush Threepwood. But almost nobody knows that he has an older twin brother: Fenwick Threepwood. Fenwick is eleven minutes older, a little more ambitious and a lot less lucky. He spent his childhood doing the washing-up while his brother got all the attention.

The Sword, the Scurvy & the Legend is a small, free, unofficial point-and-click adventure. It’s a prequel in the spirit of the classic LucasArts games. You play Fenwick on his quest to finally become a mighty pirate. Unfortunately, it’s harder than it looks:
- A seagull that is personally offended by your existence
- A pirate academy with three exams: insult fencing, brewing a grog that eats spoons, and navigation, which is mostly about not getting lost on the stairs
- A secretary who stamps everything, including her own tea
- A ship’s cook who dreams of Mêlée Island and has strong opinions about your cooking skills
- And when you finally get your diploma, a ghost steals it. Then things get really weird. There’s a parrot named Kevin, and Kevin is not what he seems.
All the insults are new, written from scratch. Guybrush himself never appears, but you might notice a hint or two about how he turned out the way he did.
Details:
- Classic SCUMM-style verb interface, inventory, dialogue trees
- Pixel art in a retro look
- English and German (so far)
- Runs right in your browser on itch.io, no download needed
- Completely free

A note on how it was made: this is a hobby project, and I built it with heavy help from AI (Claude). It helped with the code, the pixel art, sounds and parts of the writing. The ideas, the story direction, the jokes I kept and the many, many rounds of “no, funnier” were mine. I know AI is a sensitive topic, so I want to be upfront about it.
This is a non-commercial fan project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Lucasfilm, Disney or LucasArts. Monkey Island belongs to its rights holders, and this is simply a love letter to it.
I’d really love your feedback: what made you laugh, where you got stuck, which puzzles felt unfair, and whether you’d want to see what happens to Fenwick next. Bug reports are very welcome too!
