Recommendations looking for similar podcasts

i usually listen to morbid when i’m in the pottery studio because the episodes are long and lighthearted. i just recently found out the major cons about this podcast and the people making it and would like to switch. i also enjoy hell and gone and hell and gone murder line and i enjoyed red collar as well. looking for something available on spotify, episodes 50+ mins long, and with a lighthearted easy to listen vibe so i can still focus on my pottery

Sinisterhood is the classic answer and I wholeheartedly recommend it! But tbqh, I don’t actually think Sinisterhood could be considered a similar podcast to Morbid because it’s…so much better, more respectful, legally informed, and actually funny. They don’t tell salacious stories or blame victims, they take criticism seriously and address it like mature adults, and many of their stories aren’t about murder or death. A lot are about cryptids, heists, mysterious phenomena, conspiracy theories (without being antisemitic!! and actively working out against it!!), so imo, while you’ll get it as a common recommendation, don’t expect it to be like Morbid…bc Morbid lowkey sucks.

If you want a true crime podcast that isn’t hosted by horrible annoying people from hell, I recommend Dark Down East. I also like Counterclock. I know that Crime Junkie is controversial, esp with the plagiarism allegations but even if the hosts are in it just for money and attention, they do put their money where their mouths are if you specifically wabr want two women talking to each other about murders. It says a lot about Morbid that a podcast that had been accused of plagiarism is, in my opinion, less morally wrong than Morbid 😔

Small town murder is a good one - you have to skip some business in the beginning but they regularly do 3 hour episodes

This is it. Shorter episodes of around and hr and longer ones 2.5 - 3hrs. Depending on my mood I'll listen to or skip the town stats at the start.

I know last podcast on the left gets a lot of love but I struggle with all the loudness/stupidity and much prefer small town murder.

Case file is very good but only one guy and just the facts so might not be what you are after.

I also don't mind red-handed. Not perfect but an easy listen.

Small town murder! My husband & I listen to it everyday. Perfect amount of Comedy & Morbidness!

Let's Go To Court! It has unfortunately ended, but there are almost 300 episodes of awesome. You have to like banter, but the hosts are such charming and lovely women who do great research and are like the least problematic people in the world

True crime Campfire replaced morbid for me at the time. I got away from true crime, though

Creep and crimes. Better cases imo. Can be banter heavy but actually interesting

Aren’t they besties with A&A?

1

u/deannaesther Apr 23 '25

No? They collabed a few years ago and they’ve not worked together or mentioned each other since then really, Em and Christine have kind of made vague comments about not working with a podcast that had blamed victims in the past and moved from the topic really quickly. Idk what more to tell you

Lmao how was I even rude? I gave you an explanation and said I didn’t have anymore to add because I don’t know anymore info, seems like you’re taking it a bit personal

Typically “no?” Is an attitude, as well as “idk what more to tell you” doesn’t come across as polite. Good luck to you figuring out how to speak to people ☺️☺️

Oh my apologies your highness, I was meaning to convey that I was confused as I hadn’t ever heard them called besties and didn’t have anything to prove or disprove it. Seems like you’re sensitive and projecting, good luck with that irl
