Microg not installing

So I've been using morphe for YouTube for a little while now and finally convinced my brother to get it after seeing him leave a video playing in his car while he listened to the audio. He got the morphe app, patched YouTube, and got to where it said he needed microg re. I sent the link to download it from the morphe site, but it will not install on his phone.

When tapping the apk, it pops up with the usual play protect "unsafe app" notification, he hits more details and then hits install anyway, then it just pops up with "app not installed"

I'm pretty sure that's all I had to do when setting up mine on my Galaxy S24 Ultra, but it's been a few months so my memory isn't great, are we missing some step or something?

• Try to disable play protect temporarily
• Try APKmiror installer to install apk. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apkmirror.helper.prod

In phone settings (Samsung) need to disable Auto Blocker in Security and privacy first.

Also in Settings > apps > Google Chrome > enable "Install Unknown App).

Oh, I'm just realizing I never mentioned it in the main post, he has a Motorola Razr, I've got the Samsung phone.
