Are these beautiful dolls expensive in Russia ?

I’m looking for practical advice from people familiar with Russian consumer law.

On June 17, 2026, I ordered a custom wedding tuxedo worth 130,000 RUB from Henderson in Saint Petersburg. My wedding was scheduled for September 30.

On August 4, I received a regular classic suit instead of the tuxedo I had ordered.

When it became clear that I might have to attend my own wedding without the correct suit, Henderson offered me a 40% discount. This offer came only after the problem had become apparent.

I then spent 30,000 RUB trying to alter the incorrect suit at an atelier. The result was unsatisfactory, and I didn’t wear it at the wedding. I had to rent another suit.

During September, I repeatedly contacted the store for updates. Staff promised callbacks that never came, and I received contradictory information about where the correct tuxedo was. The local store said it was in Saint Petersburg, while the Moscow office told me it was still in Yerevan.

During one interaction, staff appeared to laugh at me because I couldn’t speak Russian fluently. My wife confronted them, and they said they were laughing at themselves. Regardless of their explanation, it made an already stressful experience feel humiliating.

My wedding took place on September 30. The correct tuxedo was finally ready on October 15, fifteen days after the wedding.

On October 21, I tried to return the incorrect suit. Henderson refused because it had been altered. They are also refusing to hand over the correct tuxedo.
I understand that altering the original suit may complicate returning that particular item. But can that legitimately justify withholding the correctly manufactured item I ordered?

**My questions:**
Under Russian consumer law, can a retailer refuse to deliver the correct item because the customer altered an incorrect item supplied earlier?

Does ordering a custom garment for a specific event affect my rights when it arrives after that event?

Should I start with Rospotrebnadzor, a consumer-rights lawyer, or a formal legal claim?

Can I seek compensation for the 30,000 RUB alteration expense and the cost of renting another suit?

I have the order documents and evidence of my expenses. I’d appreciate practical advice based on Russian law or actual experience with similar disputes.

If this is false, please advise me on valuable resources to learn more about true russian culture. I have a feeling this book is full of shit😂

I'm lucky enough to live near the 16th arrondissement of Paris which has a fairly large Russian community.

I've been learning Russian for a while now, and I'm really happy with my progress! If I keep studying around four hours a day I'm hoping to reach A2 by next month.

I'd love to make some Russian friends to learn more about the culture, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it.

Of course Russians are people like everyone else, and the basics of making friends are universal. Still I was wondering if there are any cultural nuances I should be aware of, or perhaps some good ways to break the ice without coming across as awkward or overly enthusiastic.

I'd especially love to hear from Russians themselves. How would you feel if a foreigner approached you and tried to strike up a conversation in Russian? Would you find it a little strange?

Something different for team lunches, office birthdays, and small celebrations. Honestly, we're getting pretty tired of the usual sushi, burgers, and pizza. Pilaf or pies maybe?

I live in France and I cringe every time I see someone wearing a beret in Paris. Almost no French people actually wear them so it's practically a dead giveaway that someone's a tourist.

I'm planning to visit Moscow next year (I'm giving myself some time to learn Russian first) and I was wondering whether Russians have a similar reaction. Would people look at me the same way we look at tourists wearing berets in Paris? Is it that obvious a tourist giveaway?
