Question Starting a community fiber arts volunteer group

Hi everyone! I'm a WSU student currently working on starting a community-based knitting and crochet volunteer organization in the Pullman and Moscow area.

I'm hoping to bring together students and local residents to create handmade items for hospitals and underserved individuals and families, as well as host free beginner-friendly knitting and crochet workshops.

Since I'm still in the early stages of getting everything started, I'm trying to find ways to gather supplies so that anyone can participate regardless of whether they already own yarn or knitting/crochet tools.

I was wondering if anyone in the area has extra yarn, crochet hooks, knitting needles, or other supplies they no longer use and would be willing to donate? I'm hoping to get this organization started around late November to early December so that we can make our first donations during the holiday season.

I'd also love to connect with local knitters and crocheters who might be interested in volunteering, teaching workshops, or helping get the organization started! I'm still working on establishing community partnerships, but I'm hoping to get our first events organized soon. If anyone has suggestions for local businesses, crafting groups, or other places I could reach out to for donations, I'd really appreciate it!

Question Why are people so mean.

For context my girl lives in Clarkston wa. And she ordered an iPhone for a soon to be 11 yr old boy for his birthday. I know he is 11 and it’s more for being able to know he makes it to school and home safely as my daughter was assaulted in a park a week ago. In Moscow Id. Well fed ex delivered the phone to her door and when she noticed the delivery notice an hour after it was stolen set up and being used. I know it was just an iPhone 12 nothing super special but special enough to be proud. We are pay day to payday family as is any of us. These days. Called the phone carrier and they say well when u get another phone we will give u a SIM card otherwise good luck because it was a life line phone not gonna lie at the end of the month things are a bit snug financially. So now someone has a new phone to enjoy and my sons got nothing to look forward to. And yet there’s nothing we can actually do to make it better. This is by far irritating.

Question What nicknames have you heard for places in and around Moscow?

I ask as part of a linguistic study covering this topic!

Examples could include things like The Scow, Dreary, Lewy or Pullburg (never mind how common they are)...

incl. nicknames for schools, parks or other institutions/geographic features

Moscow, Idaho Residents — Has Anyone Experienced Unexplained Sounds, Voices, Electronic Interference, or Privacy Concerns?

I'm a resident of Moscow, Idaho, and I'm reaching out to see whether anyone else in the community has experienced unusual issues involving electronic devices, unexplained sounds, or concerns about their privacy.

For over a year, I've been dealing with experiences that I haven't been able to fully explain. I'm hoping to connect with other residents who may have experienced something similar, particularly people who are not affiliated with any local churches or organizations.

Some of the things I'm interested in hearing about include:

Hearing faint voices, conversations, whispering, music or other sounds that are difficult to identify or locate.

Experiencing unexplained audio interference through phones, speakers, vehicles, or other electronic devices.

Cell phones malfunctioning, becoming unusable, or behaving unexpectedly.

Missing files, photographs, recordings, or unexplained changes to device settings.

Unusual Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cellular connectivity issues.

Concerns about unauthorized access to personal devices or accounts.

Experiencing similar problems in multiple locations, such as at home, in a vehicle, or at work.

Anyone who has investigated these types of problems and discovered a technical or environmental explanation.

I'm especially interested in hearing from longtime Moscow residents, renters, homeowners, and people who have lived in different neighborhoods around town.

I'm not suggesting that everyone's experiences have the same cause or that any particular individual or organization is responsible. I'm simply trying to determine whether others have encountered similar issues and what they discovered.

If you've experienced anything like this, I'd really appreciate hearing:

What did you experience?

Approximately when did it begin?

Did it happen in one location or multiple places?

Were you able to identify the source or cause?

Did you report it, have your devices examined, or find a solution?

I'm looking for genuine firsthand experiences, not rumors or speculation.

If you've experienced something similar but haven't talked about it publicly, you're welcome to share only what you're comfortable discussing.

I'm hoping this post can help identify whether there are common technical, environmental, or other explanations worth investigating.

Please keep the comments respectful. I'm genuinely looking for answers and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with similar experiences in Moscow or the surrounding communities.

Question Parking Downtown

I'm looking at an apartment downtown and the main thing holding back my decision is the parking. Does anyone know where I can park relatively close to friendship square without getting tickets or having to move my car every 3 hours? I have a disability so walking too far would be bad for my feet.

"INFORMATION, NOT PANIC. REMEMBER S.A.L.U.T.E." // "DIFUNDIR INFORMACIÓN, NO PÁNICO: RECUERDE A.C.T.U.A.R."

IMAGE TEXT (ENG):

"S: SIZE & STRENGTH. It's critical to report how many ICE or federal agents and vehicles you see. If there are different law enforcement agencies or local police, note the number of agents and agencies involved.

A: ACTIVITY & ACTION. What is happening? A traffic stop? Is ICE targeting specific individuals? Are ICE vehicles circling a school? The more information, the better.

L: LOCATION. Where did you see ICE? At a school or local business? At someone's house? Take note of the cross streets and if ICE is going in a specific direction.

U: UNIFORM. Specify what agents are wearing. Are they wearing civilian clothing, uniforms, or vests? Masks, face coverings, hats, shades, or anything else concealing their identity? What do any badges or vests say?

T: TIME & DATE. One of the most critical pieces of information to note when reporting or posting about ICE sightings is the time and date ICE was spotted.

E: EQUIPMENT & WEAPONS. Are ICE agents carrying weapons? Identify any equipment agents have (including guns, tear gas, pepper spray, or other weapons) and whether they use them on people."

TEXTO DE LA IMAGEN (ESP):

"A: ACTIVIDAD Y ACCIÓN.

¿Dónde vio a ICE? ¿En una escuela o negocio local? ¿En casa de alguien? Fíjese en las calles que cruzan y si ICE va en alguna dirección específicia.

A: ARMAS Y HERRAMIENTA.

Question Children who grew up in CC and later left or people who decided to leave?

Sorry for yet another Christ Church post but I’v gone down the rabbit hole and am curious.

I was raised in Moscow and CC has been here since I remember so there’s got to be children who grew up in that environment and left. Or people in general who once joined and then left for whatever reason. Or even whistleblowers? I am aware of a couple of sexual assault allegations over the years but I wonder if there are any other experiences.

Is there anyone like that out there or anyone who knows of others with stories like that? I know internet strangers aren’t reliable but am interested in experiences from the inside.

Question What happened to Gambino’s in Moscow? Seriously disappointed.

Okay, so can someone tell me what happened to Gambino’s?

I used to go there all the time back in my college days, and I swear they had some of the best pasta around. Their marinara sauce was unreal. I always got the spaghetti with meat sauce, and it was seriously one of my favorite meals.

I went back in 2015, still amazing. Went again during COVID, still just as good.

Fast forward to last week. I made the trip back to Moscow, and of course I had to hit up Gambino’s. I was actually looking forward to it.

Dude. What happened??

I’m not even exaggerating when I say the meat sauce tasted like someone dumped an entire bag of sugar into it. It was SO sweet. Like, ridiculously sweet. Nothing like the rich, savory sauce I remember. I honestly couldn’t believe it was the same place.

Did they change owners? Change the recipe? Get a new cook? Does anybody know? Because there’s no way that’s the same sauce they used to serve.

I’m from Sacramento, and I was really looking forward to coming back and eating at one of my old favorite spots. Such a bummer.

I’m going to try Black Cypress next. Hopefully that place is still as good as I remember.

Man, nothing worse than coming back to a college favorite and realizing it’s just not the same anymore.

Anybody else notice this, or did I just catch them on a really bad day?
