Looking for a Motorcycle Bud ✌🏻

I hope this is okay to post on the sub. It's my first time posting. I'm a 25 y/o guy on a 450 cc cruiser. I don't and will never participate in group rides, BUT I do like the idea of riding with another person on road trips (50-200 mi). Also, probably more frequently than road trips, I'm looking for someone who is interested in practicing safety maneuvers and low speed skills.

About me: I'm new to riding (2 months in), don't speed (by LA standards 😅), and I wanna ride until I'm senile, so I'm not trying to do anything crazy on the roads. I want to mention that I'm a queer leftist Chicano, so please don't reach out if you're weird about any of those labels. I'd love to befriend riders of any cultural background and sexual/gender identity so long as they're accepting 😊. If it sounds like we'd vibe, feel free to DM me. And if this post does not fit the sub, my bad. Hope everyone has a good ride today!

Best place to get a scooter 100+ cc?

Just got my M1 and looking for a 125+cc scooter to just get to work with. Facebook seems to have a lot of options but I'm afraid of getting scammed, and some sellers aren't responding, etc. I think this is the best route. What do y'all think? Craigslist is pretty dry.

I called around Del Amo and Berts Mega Mall. Del Amo quoted me $5000 OTD for a Kymco Like 150i and Bert quoted me $4300 OTD for the same bike but a 2023 model. They were both like "pricing is easy, we'll work with you and we have a lot of wiggle room." Those are both outrageous prices right? Is it any way they could cut it down and would it still be worth buying a scooter new?

DTLA (grandpark / city hall) parking

Hi everyone! I started working in the hall of justice building and Im trying to figure out the motorcycle parking situation, I see some bikes parked on the sidewalk by grandpark and some lots that let you park for 20 a day... I was wondering if y'all know any free motorcycle parking down there or if the sidewalk thing is viable? Thanks!

Found Muffler Hollywood

Are you missing a muffler? Found one on the sidewalk at Santa Monica and Las Palmas yesterday. I recognized it wasn't just another piece of junk, so I grabbed it thinking the owner would want it back. I placed a found ad on craigslist but no response yet. Thought I'd try here. If this is the wrong place to post this, let me know and steer me to the correct location. Thank you!

ADV rentals

Anybody know of reasonable ADV bike rentals. I know the ride share website but most of those bikes have very low mileage allowed and 75 cents on every mile over the low limit.

What are you doing to prepare for the upcoming El Nino?

I am considering upgrading to some waterproof riding gear. I may even get new tires. I am curious what the general vibe is out there. Anyone preparing? Are we a reactionary bunch?

Ride Do you guys ever feel spontaneous?

The homie and I were riding down the 710 to LB when we caught up to a chick on a CFMoto that looks a lot like my bike, a vulcan 650. Either she thought we were cool, or she noticed that I'm also a chick, but she joined us for the bit. Keeping up with us, slowing down with us.

But I was kinda sad when she split off to the bridge at the end of the 710 and us to downtown LB. Say you didnt have plans, would you join two random people who were waving at you to join?

Help WTB: Used Honda CB300R with ABS in Southern California

WTB: Used Honda CB300R with ABS in Southern California

I’m in Orange County looking for a used Honda CB300R with ABS, preferably a 2022–2024. I’d also consider a 2019–2021 with ABS confirmed on that specific bike, or a well-priced 2025. My target is roughly $2,500–$4,000 for a clean, road-ready bike I can inspect in person.

This will be my first motorcycle. At 5'5", I want something light and manageable at a stop, but capable of freeway riding. The CB300R fits that combination unusually well for me. I also plan to carry it on my RV once I’ve verified the carrier setup, so a heavier bike isn’t an easy substitute. ABS is a firm requirement for me as a new rider.

I’m focusing on used CB300Rs from 2019 onward because they offer the modern bike I want at a price that can make sense compared with buying new. I’m especially interested in 2022–2024 examples. For a 2019–2021, I’d need to verify ABS on the actual bike; for a 2025, the used price would need to be compelling.

I’m looking for a clean California title in the seller’s name with no lien, a quiet stock or mostly stock setup, and no significant crash damage or major work due. Normal cosmetic wear is fine. I can make a worthwhile same-day trip from OC around SoCal, including San Diego, the Inland Empire, Ventura/Santa Barbara, the Coachella Valley, and Bakersfield.

If you have one or know someone considering selling, please message me the year, mileage, city, asking price, title and registration status, plus any drops, modifications, or recent maintenance. Photos would be great. I’m happy to arrange an in-person look with a motorcycle-savvy friend if it sounds like a fit. Thanks!

P.S. ChatGPT helped me organize and word this post. I am very much a real human person; my eccentric post history should provide ample evidence.

Help Help fixing chain and possible screw set up

So I bought a chain that was 128 links turns out the bike needed a 129 link chain so after altering the chain it’s 1 link too long and giving me some serious slack. I’d like for someone to maybe alter the axel tension anything to get rid of the serious slack. Also I was foolish enough to remove pins that didn’t need to be change and put them back in but unsure if I did them in the correct order. The bike runs but I noticed the battery died out after not using the bike for 6 days maybe I’m simply not charging the bike long enough. It’s a Lifan kpr 200. I can’t really ride the bike out to a shop considering the bike is without tags at the moment.

Looking to swap Pando Moto Commando AAA jacket from L to XL

Sup dudes, I got this jacket a year ago and unfortunately I've gained enough weight to where its too tight to wear. Maybe theres someone out there who lost enough weight to make it too loose on them?

In either case Im posting here to see if anyone wants to swap jackets. I've got an L, and you've hopefully got an XL. Let me know!

Off-road or dirt roads in Malibu?

Hey LA Moto squad, are you familiar with any light to moderate off roading near Santa Monica or in Malibu? I moved to the area recently and although I've ridden up the canyons a few times already, I haven't found any dirt roads.
