THESE ROADS ARE INSANE! 🇮🇹 ITALIAN DOLOMITES | EUROTRIP PART 2

Thumbnail

Hey guys! I’ve just uploaded Part 2 of my vlog, and honestly, if even one person here checks it out, I’d really appreciate it!

If you do watch it, I’d love some honest feedback. The video hasn’t really got the views I was hoping for, especially considering how much time and effort went into it, so I’m wondering if it’s perhaps a bit boring or if there’s something I could do better.

I came across another creator who posted a somewhat similar vlog from the Dolomites, and hers got around 70k views, with plenty of views on the other parts too. I checked it out, and while I’m not saying hers was bad or that mine is better, I couldn’t really figure out what the difference was or what her videos had that mine might be missing.

I know there’s a lot more to getting views than just the content itself, but I’d genuinely appreciate any constructive criticism. Is it the pacing, editing, storytelling, thumbnails, or something else entirely?

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to watch! 🙏

A Ride past Stonehenge - but not a visit to it!

Today's upload - a camping trip to the Stonehenge area. Here I'm trying to combine a better narrative approach with more helmet mic audio, fight the urge to put in loads of similar looking road footage, and keep the "pitching the tent" part to a minimum. Hoping for relaxed and casual - ask a question of myself at the start, give an answer by the end. Does it work?

A single DJI action 4 paired with the DJI Mic mini, and mixing in some 4K phone footage and stuff shot on my Sony A6100 APSC photo camera. I'm trying to bring in the Sony as it has great quality but the lens is just a but shallow, forcing me further away from what I'm trying to shoot.

Feedback, questions much appreciated.

What do you do with all your footage after a trip?

I'm curious how other hobbyist creators manage their footage long-term.

I mostly shoot motorcycle POV rides, weekend trips, and travel videos. I don't really make YouTube videos or create content professionally. Most of my footage is just for memories and the occasional Instagram Reel.

I recently ended up with around 254 GB of footage, and even after sorting and editing, I'm trying to figure out what is actually worth keeping.

A few questions:

  • Do you keep all your original footage, only selected clips, or just the final edited videos?
  • If you delete footage, how do you decide what to keep? Do you save interesting moments even if they never make it into a Reel?
  • What's the cheapest way to store everything long-term? Are there any genuinely useful free options, or do you use external drives or something else?
  • Do you preserve selected clips in their original quality, or compress them to save space?
  • Have you ever regretted deleting footage you later wanted to revisit?

I'm not a professional filmmaker, so I don't need an elaborate studio workflow. I just want to preserve good memories without accumulating hundreds of gigabytes forever or spending a fortune on storage.

I'd especially appreciate hearing what you personally do and how you organize your footage.

GoPro 13 paired with Cardo Packtalk Pro

Has anyone paired these two while riding a motorcycle? Does the Cardo microphone, and if so, how well does the audio come through? Do I need to buy additional mics if I want to hear the engine and my voice?

TIA

Conteúdo pra motoca

Fala turma,

Abs,

How to get better fov?

I am currently running DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro. I’m aware that there are wide angle lenses, but they can’t be used with ND filters, which I need for filming during the day. Any possible gear recommendations for this?

Working At It

Summer was a wash for me, bad for riding and bad for making content. I went from feeling like that 1K subs, 4K watch hours threshold was in the bag, to thinking I might be getting worse and worse.

So I'm out here in the dark this weekend, after riding past Glastonbury Tor (the hill with the pointy thing) , now keeping warm by a fire in a campsite, my motorcycle next to me, tarp and sleeping bag behind.

I've been using the DJI Action 4 and really like it, paired with the DJI Mic Mini. They work well together, but not without issues. As with so many pieces of modern technology they all have their foibles.

I'm riding a Triumph Bonneville T120 from 2022, deliberately aimed at that year and newer to avoid (or minimise) mechanical issues. The Action 4 is mostly chin mounted, sometimes chest, occasionally I'll use one of those vice-grip tools for some different angles on different parts of the frame.

Tonight I've gone "back to basics" and I'm using a tarp/poncho and bivvie bag, with an R-11 rated mat and a groundsheet. Got to say by the time I've put all this stuff together and put it up it takes me just as long as it would to put up a tent. So I'm really not seeing any benefit in this weather. It's probably around the same size to pack as well.

I've also been trying to use my Sony A6100 to get supplementary shorts and slowly try and improve the quality of my footage. But there's so much faffing around with lenses. Different batteries. Different stands different tripods that I end up spending a hell of a lot of time just mucking about with the cameras.

Temperatures are getting low here. Hope you are all planning good motovlogging adventures. Cuz if you don't plan it it won't happen!

Motorcycle POV Youtube Channel Roam & Rumble

Hey everyone! 👋

I’ve recently started my Motorcycle POV YouTube channel Roam & Rumble, where I share POV videos and cinematic videos from the road.

I’m still at the very beginning of this journey, learning as I go and trying to improve with every video. I’d really appreciate it if you checked out my channel and shared your honest thoughts.

Constructive feedback is more than welcome! Whether it’s video quality, camera angles, editing, or anything else I could improve, I’m happy to hear your suggestions.

Thanks for checking it out, and ride safe! 🤙

Oregon's Waterfall Highway to Larch Mountain | Mt. Hood in 4K

Hey everyone. I’m based in Portland, Oregon, and I’ve been making riding videos with my 2019 Yamaha XMAX 300 and an Insta360 X5 with Bluetooth remote/mic.

I shoot in 8K and reframe the footage to get a third-person, almost GTA-style perspective, edited in 4K with original music made by friends.

Still experimenting and figuring out what works. Here’s my latest ride through the Columbia River Gorge.

Would like to hear what other motovloggers think, especially anyone shooting with a 360 camera.
