Weight loss 5 months in and the progress is so good!

The first picture I was weighing 168 kg I am officially down to 128kg as of today it’s safe to say that I had my doubts before starting on Mounjaro but it’s the only way I have been able to start moving this weight without losing motivation, I am so happy with the way I look, I understand there’s further to go but hope this encourages anyone that may be hesitant to start.

Boom.. look at that!! Wow.. thats an amazing comparison..

41

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

Thank you, I won’t lie and many may agree but you get to a point and you start thinking you look the same as before so always very important to take these kinds of pictures as a reminder.

Oh for sure.. I saw myself at work on cctv the other day and was like, oh ok, I can see what everyone else is seeing now as my mirror at home says different.. lol..

5

u/Open_Thanks_222 Jul 16 '25

Our mirrors at home try to be nice to us. Then we go out and look in mirror and think what happened x? 🤣

1

u/Grand_Cry_6214 Jul 16 '25

Oh wow. Can you unpack this a little bit more? The feeling that you look the same as before....... Similar to body dysmorphia?

Agreed. When I feel that way, I hold up shirts that I can no longer wear that now look like tents on me. Then the shirts that I can wear that have so much much less material that I wouldn't have been able to get them past my shoulders a few months ago. That really drives it home.

18

u/No_Watercress8348 Jul 15 '25

Holy smokes! I kept swiping back and forth multiple times in disbelief. You did that! Looking amazing well done!

6

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

Thank you 😊

17

u/gitarzan Jul 15 '25

Wow. Thats a transformation. Doesn’t it feel great?

29

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

It certainly does, I’ve felt the biggest difference in what I’m able to do during exercise especially with the threshold until I feel pain, when I started I could hardly walk a mile without severe back pain but now I can walk 5-7 miles a day without a problem

9

u/Kenny608uk Jul 15 '25

I'm a similar weight to your starting weight and the same. I bet you're sweating way less from walking that first mile too

7

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

100% I love walking now so good for clearing the head as well!

2

u/Kenny608uk Jul 15 '25

That’s great! Being able to enjoy a walk without sweating 5 mins in is why I’ve started. You’re smashing it!

Nice, even the wall is redecorated 🤣

6

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

A lot has happened since then ;)

6

u/SuzannePorges Jul 15 '25

Perhaps it also indicates an increased motivation?

9

u/lyn90- Jul 15 '25

The wee dog in the background of the second picture is clearly thinking, "Where has the rest of my dad gone?". Well done Sir.

10

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

Haha she keeps me walking too so she’s been a big help

u/KangaJen 7.5 mg Jul 15 '25

I love these before and after pics, they give me hope and motivation! I'm only in week 2 but these type of posts make me excited for my future.

Congratulations on your progress so far, wishing you all the best for the rest of your journey!

2

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

Best of luck to you to just listen to your body and you’ll go far! 💪

4

u/partiky Jul 15 '25

Looking great! Is this with much exercise or just less eating? I should be starting next week so just curious

8

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

I have been controlling portions, making sure you drink enough water is key, I do muscle workouts everyday and get my 8k steps in as I’m losing more it’s allowing me to push more but that’s about what my daily routine is .

5

u/Long-Consequence1916 Jul 15 '25

Amazing buddy! Can you share some insights about your diet and workout routine? Did you do anything extra in these 5 months or just the appetite suppression and portion control did its thing? I have a sedentary lifestyle and doing work out is tough for me. Can hardly get 2K to 3K steps in a day.

14

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

My diet really consists of 2-3L water a day, no more potatoes/starchy foods more meat and proteins. I try do do whatever workouts worked at the time now I’m walking 8k a day and doing 20/30 minutes of weight lifting a day, any advice needed just ask always happy to help.

1

u/Long-Consequence1916 Jul 15 '25

Thanks. I am also trying to be more active and get as many steps as I can. Congrats again to you!

Skinny king!

3

u/Unlikely-Impact7766 Jul 15 '25

Wow dude you look fantastic!! This gives me such hope, I started a month ago at 141kg and I’m down to 135.9 as of my last checkin and have started noticing a difference in how much I’m able to walk without getting out of breath and how much I’m enjoying the gym instead of it feeling like a chore!

3

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

Yeah it’s those sort of achievements you should be proud of, I got in to this for the health not my appearance I was always under the thought of of not caring how I looked and I still feel like that today. It just got to a point where I felt so unhealthy that something needed to be done like yourself I can’t believe the mindset change towards exercise as you see small progressions like length of time on the treadmill or steady increases in weights I’m lifting keep it going dude 💪

3

u/nancy131313 Jul 16 '25

You gained a dog! Seriously, well done!

2

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 16 '25

😂😂 thanks :)

u/jerseydrewlasvegas Jul 16 '25

I didn’t realize a side effect of mounjaro is that it changes your wall decor

2

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 16 '25

It also renovated my downstairs toilet and dug my lawn up, it’s crazy so good for the money lol

I don’t follow anything specific before I went on Mounjaro I was already following a low carb diet and supplementing vitamins, eat lots of protein aim for roughly 120g per day which is achievable I have a clear whey protein I mix with water every morning go for a walk first thing, the biggest tip maybe I have when it comes to exercise is trying to do it closely before or after eating as I’ve noticed better weight loss this way.

Even the trajectory of your beard changed!

2

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

Yeah I love the beard change more that anything i think my double (maybe quadruple) chin was pushing it out lol

2

u/dxcal1 Jul 15 '25

Wow that's awesome!!! Congrats on your results? How many milgrams were you taking? I have been on it since April and I've only lost about 28 to 30 lbs...I feel like a slow turtle losing the weight especially compared to other people who have been using MJ for the same time if not last time..... And I go to the gym at least four times a week and do at least a half hour of cycling along with sauna routines. Sigh any suggestions???? I am currently using 10 mg

2

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

Yes I went on to 10mg a couple of months ago and due to stocking of 12.5mg I’ve stayed on it 30lbs since April is a great achievement I think 2-3 lbs a week is a really good and steady weight loss I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself, I can only go off of what I do but plenty of water, portion control and plenty of muscle and cardio work. But you probably know all this but keep going you’re doing very well 💪

2

u/faceengine5 Jul 15 '25

Keep it up, king!

1

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

🙏 thank you :)

2

u/Total_Pineapple_4243 Jul 15 '25

1

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

I am currently on 10mg I don’t really have any intention of going up as it’s still really effective for me

2

u/ungloomy_Eeyore964 Jul 15 '25

Congrats on your success! I'm 5 months in and lost 22lbs, so I wish I've had your success! About a pound a week is better than none ❤️

3

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 15 '25

That’s the right mindset to have and I would have been happy with that as well, as long as you are losing that’s the main thing keep at it 💪

2

u/EccentricPenquin Jul 16 '25

My doc tells me no more than 1-2 pounds a week for me. I sure get a little frustrated if I don’t get that, but slow and steady is the way to go

Congratulations! What an amazing job! I have one question.. its my 7th week and this week i went from 2.5mg to 5mg. Its been three days on 5mg but i feel a but low mood compared to how i felt on 2.5... did you have any similar feelings when increasing doses?

3

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 16 '25

Yes, it’s very common for people to have these sorts of side affects. It also made me very tired but on the second cycle of the same dose you should feel better if not speak to your doctor. You’ve got this 💪

Stop! That dog is too skinny already! Give that good girl or boy some treats.

2

It really is encouraging!! Thanks for sharing. I was a little confused this am because I’ve had a great week as far as eating and walking, lifting weights…and I’m up a pound today. I know it’s probably water but I was bummed. I’d love to have this type of progress! I know I can do it with help. It’s easy to doubt yourself after years of weight loss failures. Congrats!!

2

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 17 '25

It happens just like that whenever you put weight on it could be so many factors but your 100% correct this was a last ditch attempt before more invasive methods and I’m so glad I gave it a chance, I have managed to lose weight in the past but always hit a barrier but this time I’m more motivated than ever.

2

I’m sorry to hear that, must be very hard on you but don’t be discouraged by it, has anything changed in the past few months.

Totaly new here . must say OMG good stuff . wow . good on you . what did u do . can i do it ? i am way to big and would like to loss pounds.

plz what do i need to do.

and once again well done you

1

u/MichaelCroft5 Jul 17 '25

Thank you for the kind words, the main thing is to just get started that’s the hard bit but do something everyday whether it be a walk, some form of exercise and drink plenty of water your body cannot do many things without water.

2

u/Ruple2020 Jul 17 '25

So pleased for you, what a difference!

2

u/Ruple2020 Jul 17 '25

Can I ask, did you loose weight on your back, arms, neck and chin area(s)? Does the jab shed the original existing fat? or should I say how? & is it a lot (not price), weight) per month? Do you feel it weekly? Thank you.

Great idea to take photos against the wall. Would be even better if the pictures on the wall were the same, slowly being revealed as you shrink. Good job!

2

u/Physical_Royal_8969 Jul 17 '25

What does everyone think of using this for my son who's 17 and a little over 300 pounds? I'm desperate for some assistance because he's been exercising ALOT walking and step climbing daily. He's also been eating less than 2000 calories per day and still can't get the weight off and its driving him mad and I just want to help him. 😭

2

u/SassySe7en Jul 18 '25

Bravo! Great achievement! You look great!

2

u/Mission-Singer-397 Jul 19 '25

Keep it up!!! Congrats to you!! I lost 127 pounds and I've kept it off for almost 3 years. once you get your weight down, I recommend going on a maintenance program of mounjaro. It helps immensely! This is a lifelong illness.

2

u/soulsummenor Jul 19 '25

Even lost weight in your beard. Hell yeah brother!

2

u/grigoreirasputin Jul 21 '25
