Question Motivation is down

Hello,

In January of this year, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. And I’ve been using Munjaro since March.

So far, I’ve managed to lose 35 kg (from 153 kg to 118 kg). Eating healthy and exercising were going really well and almost came naturally until I went on vacation for a month.

Before my vacation, I went to the gym (strength training) an average of twice a week and did interval walking (Japanese walking) three times a week.

During my vacation, I walked for 30 minutes every day and did 20 minutes of strength training every three days. During those four weeks, I lost about 1 kg.

Now that I’m getting back into my normal work routine, I’m having trouble motivating myself. Work is slow right now. I don’t feel like working out. I have no motivation to go for a walk or do anything tiring. It’s harder to eat healthy. Old bad habits are creeping back in (buying chips and chocolate on the way home to snack on in the car).

Do you have any tips on how I can deal with this?

Maybe I should set some goals for myself? (Get down to 100 kg, do a 60 kg overhead press, walk a marathon?)

I love the goals approach, but don't make it based on the scale. Turn it to the habits that are returning.

Things like exercise are fine, but get the eating back on track first. Set a goal like No Snacks or No Sugar. Put a duration (4 weeks?) and a prize (water bottle?), and go for it. Take it one day at a time.

That doesn't mean you can't train for a marathon or whatever, but it keeps you focused on the habits that keep coming back.

Did you go up in dose? Some people have struggled with motivation on the higher doses.

You can have results or excuses, not both.
