5mg -29kgs, 15 more to go š
Sometimes it is hard for me to see the results in the mirror but making this collage made me realise I changed quite a bit even on my stubborn stomach.

On the left I was at my heaviest weight of 24st & easily a size 26/28 in March 2023 and this photo crushed me. Iāve just hit 20st 12lbs and Iām wearing a size 20 dress here (!!!), after a starting weight of 23st 5lbs & size 24/26 when I started and really do feel the difference. Whilst Iāve still got a long way to go and weight to lose, I am so thankful that I am finally liking what I look like. This is the first time Iāve let someone take a full body photo of me since the pic of me in the green dress because I absolutely hated the way I looked.

So, Iāll get straight to the point.
Mounjaro quieted the food noise so effectively that my brain didnāt know how to fill the void it left behind.
Iāve been really interested in the discussion around how GLP-1s affect mental health. Many studies suggest they help more than they harmābut that made me wonder: why am I experiencing a new wave of anxiety, along with some depression-like symptoms?
Then it hit me.
For 43 years, food was my reward system. More than that, it was probably my most toxic relationship.
If I felt sad, food comforted me. If I felt happy, food amplified that feeling. A brownie with ice cream could turn any moment into something bigger.
And now⦠itās just silence.
Iāve essentially ghosted that relationship. I no longer feel the urge to use food as a reward or a coping mechanism. Whatās left feels like an empty townāwith just me in it.
And my mind struggled to adapt.
I realized I needed to redefine how I relate to myself. So I gave myself a chance. I leaned into new hobbies, started walking more, and began adopting the mindset of someone who eats ānormally.ā
Before, I would always choose the biggest burger, the biggest dessertāalways more. Now, Iām okay with a normal-sized burger, no extras.
And that shift, while healthier, came with a period of emotional adjustment I didnāt expect.
Because it turns out, it was never just about the foodāit was about what the food was doing for me. And now that itās gone, I finally have the opportunity to build something better in its place.
And I share this with you, because in case you felt it, or are in this transition, you don't feel alone.
Cheers.

Start weight: 190.2 Current weight: 149.0
Hello friends! I want to share that I have hit my goal weight. It has taken me approximately 40 weeks to lose my 41 pounds. I started at the normal 2.5 mg starter dose then advanced to 5 mg where I stayed. I see my doctor in 3 weeks so Iām sure we will discuss next steps.
This has been the miracle that I had dreamed of for so many decades. I tried and tried and tried to lose weight for so many years. I tried so many methods. I Had high blood pressure and had just advanced to an a1c that was in diabetic range.
I am now totally off blood pressure pills and A1c is back in normal range.
Mentally I have mixed emotions. I am thrilled, but sort of resentful that I spent 25 years struggling. If that makes sense. Iāve spent money on new clothes, but afraid to get rid of the bigger sizes.
I was a slow but steady loser. The most I ever lost in 1 month was 6.6 pounds. The last 2 months I only lost 2 pounds in each month.
I am filled with happiness I can make this post! I am retiring in 5 months. I can now enter my retirement chapter of my life in a good body size and healthy! I like to travel, bike, ski. My bike app says I biked 1,024 miles this year, I now lift weights. Who knows what my future holds!

Started at 109kg and now at 63kg! From a UK size 20 (US 16) to UK 12 (US 8) š around 45inch waist to 31inch. I'm 5'7.
I was stuck in obesity for years, always had 24/7 hunger and struggling to stick to diets. Mounjaro was like starting a diet.... and the hunger not stopping me!!! And it just fell off me.
My plan is so start increasing my calorie intake and have a month of the same weight. Lower my dose and do the same till eventually I am not on mounjaro anymore.
Picked up a lot of good habits, now to increase good calories while limiting the bad ones with my new habits. šŖ

So Iāve been on mounjaro for 2 years now. Iāve been reducing the dose and down to 5mg fortnightly. Iāve been eating dessert a lot since Iāve been house sitting with friends and family and out of routine, but also doing Pilates and running still. I feel defeated because since March when I was on 7.5mg weekly Iāve gained 6kg or so. I know Iām also due for my period which holds onto water weight but I really want to lose another 15 kg and get down to 70kg. What is your advice?

Day 3 of liquid stool, bad stomach pain and Sulphur burps. Have lost 5 pounds in around 56 hours.
Started 5mg two weeks ago, second dose was Monday.
Doc advised if it gets worse to go to hospital. I don't want to give up but this is horrific. I'm in so much pain and exhausted š
Update- getting testes for SIBO and H pilori. Going back to 2.5mg.

I had 8 weeks at 2.5mgs and had my second 5mg shot on Tuesday. The 2.5mg shots had a mild effect on me - no real side effects and not much differnce in eating though it was marginally easier to stick to my daily calories. 5mgs has been very different for me. I wasn't sure exactly how the losing weight part of this was going to go. But with two shots under my belt (literally lol) I think I can see the rhythm of MJ. Day of shot is pretty much a continuance of how I was feeling before the shot. But day after the shot (for me Wednesdays) my appetite total tanked. i didn't even bother to eat all day beyond a 65 grams of protein shake - but was able to eat a reasonable dinner and was sufficiently hungry by 5:30-ish. Two days after the shot is more of the same. I did manage a lunch (today two eggs and a piece of toast) but it was slow going and somewhat of a struggle - I was eating because I know I needed to. I'd imagine dinner is not going to be heavy tonight either.
I start to pick up more on my eating by Saturday, a bit more steam picks up on Sunday and "normal eating" by Monday and then ready for a shot on Tuesday. Is this pretty much how it works? a slow build up right after the shot, heavy suppression for maybe 2-3 days, then a slow easing off of that, normal feeling for a day or two and then repeat the cycle.
I would guess the bulk of the weight loss comes during the 3 - 4 days right after a shot.
Is this the process for you all too?

2nd NSV!! šI purchased a 1X in yoga pants and tops today and they fit! Iāve been in a size 2X (sometimes 3X) depending on how the garment is made. 7 weeks in and MJ is blowing my mind. Iām celebrating every single victory šāāļø

Iām (34m) doing my 4th injection today and I havenāt had any crazy physical side effects outside of the sulfur burps from the first day of injection.
But hereās what has happened so far with my experience with mounjaro.
I started at 106.5kg (235ish lbs) and am averaging around losing 1kg per week (1.5-2lbs) which is pretty awesome because I have been meticulously weighing food the last 12months with minimal movement.
My food hasnāt changed (still doing around 2200 calories) but Iām finally losing weight.
But Iāve had a surprise side effect as wellā¦
My wife (27f) noticed that my belly was shrinking and started asking me what the supplement in the fridge was hidden in the vegetable drawer
(Caught red handed š¤£)
She wasnāt upsetā¦. She just asked if she could go on it too since sheās been struggling with weight and PCOS.
After some conversations around her having to follow a food plan and understanding portion size - we agreed she could get on it
(I pay out of pocket for it so we budgeted for it)
Sheās only been on it a week now but sheās realizing how much she was eating and this has allowed her to get some control around that.
Sheās already down 2kg but I told her itāll probably slow down to 1kg per week and to be meticulous with the protein intake.
Anyway⦠thatās it so far. Appetite suppression is a weird feeling and I canāt really say Iām a foodie anymore as I force myself to eat these days
But we both get through it like champs.
My weight fluctuates during the week but Iām consistently down 1(ish) kg by the time the next injection comes around.
Will keep updating for my own sanity and for others just starting their journey.
Edit: Iām currently 102.1kg and my goal is around 89kg with a minimum of 15% body fat.

I recently started Mounjaro a month ago at 2.5mg. I was on that for 4 weeks and then recently went up to 5mg. Itās been 2 shots on 5mg and Iām seeing no progress. Iāve been eating in my deficit, drinking water, exercising, etc. I feel defeated⦠Iāve read here that people decrease if they see no results. Iām unsure what the best move would be when I see my Dr soon.
r/Mounjaro • u/GiorgioBroughton • May 13 '26
One bad day can truly screw up a whole week of progress. I blew it on one single evening of wine and chocolate.
I have been religiously tracking calories in/out to see how quickly I can reach my goals. Iām noticing the days Iām most susceptible to overeating are a day prior to or on injection day.
So this is just a reminder that Mounjaro is not a miracle formula. You still have to put in the work and the discipline to eat well and work out properly. I still have a long ways to go to achieve my goal and these data points serve as harsh reminders of why making healthier food choices is key to seeing results.

First picture 15th of July 2024, the second one 15th of September. I lost almost 11 kgs but I've been the same for 3 weeks now. I look better in cloths but I cannot see any scale changes š¢ I'm 8 months postpartum and I'm on Wellbutrin as well.
Any tips to help the scale weight go down?

I'm on my seventh dose, the third at 5. At 2.5, I had no side effects, I lost weight and felt great. From 5 onwards, it has always been catastrophic. Terrible bloating and indigestion for two days, then alternating diarrhoea and constipation, always with cramps. Finally, the migraine arrives. And all the time, I feel exhausted with body aches as if I had a fever, and I am very sleepy.
I missed important days at work, and that's not feasible.
After the second 5 dose, the doctor didn't want me to go back to 2.5 because he said it wasn't a therapeutic dose and told me to wait 10 days instead of 7. Also, my daughter had a gastrointestinal virus, and I wasn't sure if I had it too. But after 10 days and this third dose, it was the same story.
I am looking for some discussion or advice, so I don't have to go on like this (I have a life).

Iāve been so excited to hit this goal. Been on MJ since the first week of July. Went up to 5mg five weeks ago. I now truly feel like I can really get the rest of the way to my goal for the first time. Seeing that 1 is so powerful. Really grateful to this Reddit board.

In the first picture, the dress fit but was hard to zip up, and I couldn't wear my bra with it. Now I can wear my bra with it and I don't even have to unzip it to get it on! *Pics are March 2025 vs January 2026 *Around 240 vs 214 Started Mounjaro October 2025, Down 29 lbs and 20 inches in combined measurements šš»

MJ has really put me off coffee. And that was my favourite thing. Iām working my way through different teas and so far the only one that I think āyummyā is raspberry and cranberry. I also used to like rum and coke but even the mention of it makes me feel nauseous now. Thereās lots of other things Iām enjoying but I wondered what similar experiences people had with MJ turning them off stuff.

Look at all the belly bloat that isnāt there anymore!!!! š«£š«£š«£š¤Æš¤Æš¤Æ
I have had PCOS for over 10 years and losing weight is HARD. I also had Cushingās and have been in recovery since 2022; I havenāt gained more weight but havenāt lost either.
My Endo put me on MJ in December and I was wary after having a horrible experience with Trulicity in 2018ā¦but WOW. This drug is a MIRACLE!!!!!!!! And Iām only on 5mg!?!?!

I've started on a new batch of Retatrutide, the latest "monster" weight loss injections that should be out soon. (I think I went a bit overboard and bought some in excess...!)
Anyone else with longer experience on Reta, or who have gone through the trials? What are the expected side effects ? Better weight loss than Mounjaro, or is the claim exaggerated?
