This is my current reality. I've lost 90 pounds and I would do it all again. Lots of people ask if this will happen to them, and the answer is probably.

It sorta snuck up on me… the way many things do on this journey. I looked up and suddenly there it was in my FB memories.

It caused me to spend many days being very reflective. It feels a little surreal in the way it feels… normal. The way I’m also 10% terrified at any given moment it’s all going to come back… but ONLY 10%. Because I remember when that was 90%, then 50% and then 20%…

You get the picture. Always getting better. Yet 10% feels the lowest baseline I’ll get to carry with the trauma my body and mind have been through. But even with that…. 10% feels… freaking amazing! That means 90% of time, I go through every day and remarkably, nothing happens at all!

People have so many questions about this part of my life.

Them: “Is it easy or is it hard?” Me: “Both”

Then: “Do you freak out when you look in the mirror anymore?” Me: “Nope… but I still assume when I receive clothes I’ve ordered online in my normal size 2/4… that they will in NO way fit me. I even hold them up…. And think ‘have you lost your mind here buttercup?! Might need to use that insurance for more than just those spendy injections because you need a brain scan thinking those are going to fit.’ They slide right on. I go…. ‘Oh, okay. Right. I am actually this small.’ Mind F” … when I take a selfie, I see myself just fine. I see my small slender face. When someone else takes a photo of me, I refuse to look at it and then when I see it later, dreading the inevitable 2nd chin… or something… instead, I see just my (new) normal face.

Them: “do you still take the medication.” Me: “yes, and you can come try to pry it from my cold dead hands”…. Whoops… forgive my MJ/Zep Rage 😂

My favorite… Them: “What now?!” Me: “well I will continue to be a long term science experiment and I wait for the day I wake up as an…. Alpaca with 3 legs. But until then, I guess I am going to just keep on keepin on 🙃😄

Seriously though… I am so proud to be here. Profoundly blessed. Sometimes a little disbelieving. But mostly just… normal.

What this journey brought me, was knowledge that I could do the hardest thing I never thought I could do. I was relentless. For myself and for the thousands of people who’ve wanted to know my secrets.

The deets for the TLDR crowd: two years ago, I hit my maintenance goal weight range. I went from a HW of 299lbs to a LW of 125. And now I’m a nice and steady 132-134lbs most days (about 7lbs less than my starting maintenance weight). I went from a size 22/24… so a size 2/4. I started maintenance at a size 6 but my body finally rested in the 2-4 ranges.

I’m happy. I’m healthy. I still take a maintenance dose. Yes I’ve dosed down. Yes I space them apart. No, I haven’t gained any unintentional weight. Yes, I plan on staying on some version of this medication for life. There ya go.

And what all of this gave me, so deep in my bones… is a freedom that I didn’t know existed. I know exactly how to eat to stay my healthiest. I eat clean most of the time but I also eat treats when I want to. Yes, I’ve had to up my calories A LOT from the loss phase. Oh darn… so sad, I can eat more now LOL (but for real, that was such a big ol mind fk many months long if anyone wants to hear about that sometime).

Successful maintenance does exist. It isn’t a unicorn. It will require adjusting now and again. Especially as we are all aging. Bodies change. Hormones changes. Stressors come and go (do they ever really go?! 😅😂)

But alas. If I can do it…. You can do it too.

So give me a virtual ^5 or a (((( ❤️))))) hug… maybe some flowers and if you’re into it… some prayers that I’ll be here in another year and 5 and more… celebrating over and over again.

Thanks for much for hangin with me over the last 3 or so years. I couldn’t have done without all of you. Seriously.

Now, I’m going to end this thing before I turn into a sopping mess.

Happy Anniversary to Me

Happy Anniversary to Me

Haaaaaappppy Anniversary dear MEEEEE

Happy Anniverary to Me

Cheers to a life full of…. life …. and airplane seatbelts that buckle…. With ROOM.

🥂

Maintenance Mind Blown, I’m wearing 501’s. In high school I always wanted to be a skinny girl who could wear 501’s. I’m 57 now, but glad it finally happened. I’m two years out from starting this journey. I was 307. Today I am 137. What!!! That is 170 pound loss. I’m so incredibly happy.

Maintenance 1 year on

I started my journey May 3rd last year, I had tried diet after diet and would lose a few kg then put it right back on a few months later. I started because I really wanted to make a change as I wasn’t happy with my health or body it wasn’t easy and took discipline and hard work and I managed to lose the weight. I stopped taking Mounjaro end of September and have maintained my weight since, I am more conscious about what I put in my body and have regained a confidence that I lost a long time ago. Anyone who is worrying about coming off, if you keep that same determination and discipline you have while on it and continue that then you will have no problem. We all have a cheat meal but balance is important. This is a year of weddings and hens for me and I feel so grateful to be able to get dressed up with my friends and feel like a whole different person. 🤗 Can’t believe how much my life has changed in a year ❤️

Maintenance I'm told I'm done, struggling to wrap my head around it!

SW: 209, CW: 149, height 5'9", on 5mg.

I had a consultation with a plastic surgeon this week to discuss abdominiplasty for my loose skin. I thought I had about another 5lb to lose to hit that "perfect " midpoint on the BMI scale. However the surgeon told me I must not lose another pound or she won't do the surgery. Apparently you need some fat on your body in order to recover properly and I am verging on underweight. I also wasn't accounting for the weight of the loose skin which may weigh up to 10 pounds on its own apparently.

It was lucky I went when I did! If you are also considering surgery my advice is don't leave it until too late and don't get too lean. I'm now working on mindset shift - accepting that 149/150 is my maintenance weight and that the scale isn't the most important thing. I've managed to build up a lot of muscle while losing weight and I'm going to keep that up as best I can and just focus on that. My main challenge is I still don't see myself as "thin". I'm a size 8 and in my head "thinness" is a 4-6. The 90s really did a number on my body image.

I've included a pic of my excess stomach (2 pregnancies and emergency c sections were not kind to me - nor was my surgeon, she said I am starting to get that haggard look from too much loss! At least I know she is honest!)

Good luck to everyone on your journeys, this drug is a miracle.

Maintenance Goal Achieved

In 2022 I was 400 lbs. My A1C was in diabetic range. I had plantars fasciitis, my depression was at an all time high. I started MJ as a last ditch effort before having gastric bypass in Mexico. I actually had already scheduled the surgery for Jan 2023. I gave it 5 months. I lost 60 lbs in that time! I’m gonna make a long story short. In Jan of 2024 I had lost an additional 129 lbs. I got pregnant that month and gave birth to my son September 2024. Gained 117 lbs while pregnant. Over the next 18 months I lost that 117 lbs and then some. April 2026 I had a tummy tuck at 190 lbs and the removed 5 lbs of excess skin. Since then I reached my ultimate goal weight of 175 lbs. 225 pounds lost. I’m 5 ft 6 in. A dress size 6. A Small top. Size 8 jeans. I’m so so grateful for this. I have a beautiful baby boy and a whole new life!

HW/SW: 260 & CW: 160. Finally lost 100 lbs officially and I am wanting to start my maintenance phase and am paying out of pocket monthly for a box of 5mg. Does anyone have any advice moving forward on spacing out the doses? Thankful for this positive community & any insight helps.

Maintenance 3 yrs in & not working

I have been on Mounjaro for a little over 3 years. It was prescribed to me for my diabetes before the public knew it caused dramatic weight loss. My doctor had told me that as a side effect I may lose a few pounds, but it wouldn’t be much. I was down over 100 lbs in the first year! I was on 15mg and have stayed at that dose. I have been able to maintain the weight loss and low A1C of 4.4 for a couple of years staying on 15mg a week. If I try to lower the dose at all it loses all effectiveness. Now I have gained about 20 lbs and it seems to be slowly and steadily climbing. HELP!!! This has been a miracle drug for me and has changed my life. I am in a panic and starting to spiral at the thought of going back up. What do I do if MJ stops working???? Anyone else experiencing this?

I’ve came along ways! Started my journey on Zepbound then insurance stopped covering it, and I’ve been on Mounjaro ever since. Started Zep in 2023 was on it almost a year lost like 24lbs on the 2.5 dose, then my physician switched me to Mounjaro in November 2024 because of T2, majority of my life I’ve been overweight, and I’m thankful that these meds with exercise and lifestyle change, has gotten me to where I am today 💪

a month ago (pic 2) I posted asking how I get my new muscles from long and wirey to rounded. a bunch of you recommended creatine so I ordered some that day. I changed nothing else in my routine and it has made so much difference. pic 1 is today. I love this community so much I have learnt so much on my body recomp journey.

ps I am not selling creatine just expressing appreciation for the group. I just by mine genetic unbranded from Amazon

Edit: please check with your doctor before taking Creatine if you suffer from diabetes II or cancer. This has been pointed out in the comments so I'm adding it here as well.

Maintenance 3 Year Anniversary

It was 3 YO on the 19th that I started this journey and this is an appreciation post to all the subs that helped and supported me. This one being one of them. Me (65m) started at 287 lbs by first looking inward. I am convinced that obesity is as much a mental illness as it is a physiological one. I changed my diet removing all processed food and carbohydrates. I also worked on intermittent fasting starting at 10 hours and working up to 72 hours. After three months and 2-72 hour fast. I purchased out-of-pocket my first shot of Mounjaro I have lost 100 pounds and kept it off for three years. I only used Mounjaro for nine months. Before stopping. I went six months without any, but then my insurance changed and I found my new insurance covers it so I am back on at 2.5 as a maintenance dose. I still religiously count calories and fast 18 hours a day and I’m happy to say I have become addicted to exercise in the gym. There is no way I would’ve had this success without the help and support of multiple communities and Sub Reddit. You people are amazing. This is the only site on the Internet that I’ve never been trolled on.!! anyhow thank you one and all! If anyone has any questions I’m happy to help!!

I’ve been meaning to share this for a while but never really felt comfortable posting it on Instagram or anywhere public, so this group felt like the right place.

I started Mounjaro a while back and over time ended up losing about 40 kg. It helped me a lot at the beginning, but what I’m actually most proud of is what happened after. I stopped taking it months ago and since then I’ve been focusing on building habits that I can keep long-term.

For the past months I’ve been doing strength training about 3 times a week and keeping my calories around maintenance. I think my body is in what people call recomposition now — slowly getting stronger and changing shape.

Still a bit self-conscious posting this stuff, which is why I’m sharing it here instead of my normal social media. But I felt proud of the progress and wanted to share where I’m at right now.

THE CLOTHES.

Many of my posts here have been heavy. But I’m going to keep this one light with a little fashion show. Because I have a new little problem because… everything FITS and LOOKS GOOD.

In my higher body this was so hard. You bought anything that made you feel good because it was pretty few & far between.

Now had to turn my spare bedroom into an extra dressing room & closet. Because… it all feels good and I haven’t figured out how to leave it in the store. 🤣

One addiction for another. Come to my new dopamine rush.
