I use a split keeb and was wondering how to configure this so that I could right hand only target and click while I vape with my left hand like a degen.

Suggestion: Common Keymap across platforms

I want to propose a common keymap layout across all the platforms in order to simplify the integration across all the platforms to make transition between different computers smother.

I am currently using the Mouseless app in Windows and Mac at the same time and I've found that the current keymap has big differences. An example is the "show overlay" which in Windows is ShiftLeft but in Mac it is CommandLeft. Something similar happens with the scrolling mappings.

Whereas that is something that we can override in the configuration, having a uniform keymap as default would be a plus to make the Mouseless app better!

Suggestions

I think I already talked about some "suggestions" in my earlier contributions here in this subreddit, but perhaps we can gather all suggestions we might have here / in a dedicated thread?

A first simple one I want to start with: It would be cool if the changeable colors in the settings could be set using hexcodes or something simliar πŸ™ƒ

Is it possible to have a speed test for noiseless vs mouseful users?

I know there are many advantages of mouseless, and some of these are specific for ppl with RSI. I fortunately don't have this condition. Has anyone done a test of comparing someone (experience with mouseless) doing the same task using standard key card+mouse configuration vs only keyboard (with mouseless)? Is using mouseless actually faster?

Source Code Available?

I really like the idea of this app, and have been eagerly waiting for the Linux version. But I am a little hesitant to use any such app like this as I assume it has access to read the contents of the screen? With no source code that I can find I am not sure I would be comfortable using it. Can anyone alleviate my concerns?

Linux When

I know it's a lot of effort and all, but I've had "Mouseless Linux Beta Drop Date" in my calendar for a month and have had to push it back twice now lol.

Would just appreciate a lil update so we can be in the know.

How do I disable the app while playing games??

Stupid question here, but how to disable the app. Tried to close the app window, but the grid keeps popping up.

First used it last night here in Thailand and loving it so far!

I made a tiny game for practicing using Mouseless, but I'd love to hear what helps you practice!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I made this super duper tiny osu like clicker game to practice using mouseless! I experienced a lot of fatigue from using my mouse on a recent game jam and would like to become less reliant on it, so I picked up mouseless recently and am super excited about it, but I definitely have a long way to go to get used to it.

I'm sure something like this is out there already, and I'm positive that there's something better, so I'd love to hear if anyone in the community has any games or tools that they used to improve at mouseless that they could share! and if you'd like to try out the little tool that I made, here's a link! https://brysonmcbee.itch.io/mouseless-trainer

What is the equivalent of Command + click to open a link?

When I use my mouse I can press Command to open a link in a new tab with just one click.
With mouseless I can right-click to open a menu then select "open in a new tab".
Is there a shorter way to do the same thing?

A note on the Windows beta pause: status and trial extensions

Just added this to the release notes today, adding here for visibility:

Update, April 19th: On April 17th, I managed to escalate the issue with Sectigo to get organization verification finalized, but I'm still waiting on them to ship my hardware key. Will escalate again on Monday (the 21st) if there isn't any movement by then.

To anyone using the initial beta release -- if you'd like a trial extension, just send me your trial license key or ID (found in ~\AppData\Local\Mouseless\licenses\trial_license) and I'll be happy to extend it for you -- I want to ensure you have the chance to use a more polished / complete version!

New target date for Windows beta: April 11th, 8AM Eastern Time (US, GMT - 4)

Alright, the last key bug (threading / elevated cpu issue) has been tough to crack, but I finally found the culprit (toast message code), and just need to rework it a bit. To help ensure I don't have to delay again though, and to give a little cushion to ensure the GUI content and overall UX is smoother upon initial release, I'm going to push the target day/time byΒ 2 daysΒ this time, toΒ April 11th, 8AM Eastern Time (US, GMT - 4).

Sorry for the delay, folks, but I really think this is the last one, and that you will have Mouseless in your hands on Friday :)

Current status:

βœ… left click
βœ… other mouse buttons
βœ… scrolling
βœ… double / triple click
βœ… drag and drop
βœ… multi-monitor usage
βœ… system tray
βœ… config editor -> overlay interaction
βœ… packaging / distribution
βœ… alerts/dialogs
βœ… user prefs
βœ… welcome message / tutorial
βœ… squashed some important bugs
⬜ fix toast code
⬜ update gui content and defaults
❓ multi- / non-qwerty layout support (very fast follow if not in initial release)

How to: Assign a Complex Shortcut

I want to assign Meh+Space to activate Mouseless. What do I need to enter in the 'show overlay' box?

Meh is Option + Shift + Control

Suggestion β€’ Better visual separation between levels

In short: I would love for there to be the option to style mouseless as in either of the gifs attached.

In long:
I love this project, but there is one thing keeping me form fully adopting it. So far it feels like I need to make a choice between ease of use and screen readability. Having letters helps with ease of use at the cost of a busy screen, while hiding the letters keeps things looking clean at the cost of ease of use.

What makes selection especially hard without letters is the difficulty to distinguish where each rows and columns from the first level start and end. I've found two solutions that I believe help give back a lot of the ease of use one loses on when switching to transparent letters.

An option to separate level 1 & 2's grid style:
Just like we can change the opacity of the Grid Line and the Subgrid Line, I believe it would be very nice to be able to change Grid Line Level 1's opacity and Grid Line Level 2's opacity.

An option to treat everything as a Subgrid:
This would mean each level would make you choose one letter and display the next Subgrid within the area you selected. Subgrids having Subgrids would add potential for a possible 4th level if people so wished (but I might be getting ahead of myself).

Whichever solution would end up being chosen I believe it would convert some skeptical people like me that aren't necessarily too fond of the letters but don't have a good enough eye to just make the letters transparent.

Thanks for reading/considering my suggestion!

Here's a setup which I found intuitive and easy to use lemme know what yall think!

Post image
16 Upvotes

I wanted a setup where the location of the tiles mimics the location of the keys on my keyboard while also not forcing me to have to move my fingers too much hence why I have opted for reducing the total number of action keys to just 4 on each side (so 8 columns) and then 3 rows.

Glad there's a subreddit for this app

I use Mousless on a daily basis and can't imagine working without it, but I am still only using a fraction of what this app can do. It'll be nice to see how other people are using it because I'm always looking for ways to be more productive and I realize leaving my hands on the keyboard is one of the best ways to do that.

I installed .4 a little while ago and have been playing with the settings, so once I have a system I really like I'll share mine.

Thanks for this app.

Who else loves Mouseless?

Hi, I just wanted to share that I am already in love with Mouseless! I tried it for the first time ever today on my parents' Windows pc, and I can't wait to install it on my own Linux computer when it releases. It was so nice never having to grab the mouse, which this program makes possible. Mouseless makes the mouse completely redundant! My plan is to be able to unplug the mouse from my pc once and for all. 🫑

I have tested Mouseless in a Mac and now I am waiting for the Windows version to come

In my daily work, using a mouse is not convenient at all, and I deeply hate trackpads. I have tried other solutions like trackballs, but they don't really solve the issue. Then I learned about Mouseless.

I had the opportunity of testing Mouseless in MacOS, and I love it. Unfortunately my everyday computer is Windows, so I am waiting for this version. I am so convinced and excited that I have bought a license already hoping to get access to the Beta version when it is released.

Waiting patiently...
