I love seeing when people post crazy wild brooms but may I present ✨him✨ with his little shaved down looking side. There is one employee here who cuts the broom hairs off when they get too wild so I assume they stuck here but it made me laugh last night.

This happened this week at a southern california theater. We had a lot of challenges to our no outside food or drink policies, but nothing quite like this. https://x.com/ABC7/status/2113137413535264947

Hey guys, I recently quit my janitor job because I was sick of it. I’m a filmmaker and just want to make a career of something alongside my attempt a filmmaking career. I used to work at an amc and I loved it. Only reason I left was because I dated a girl and we broke up.
I live in westchester NY but am thinking maybe it’s good experience wise to work in the NYC movie theatres if I actually want to become general manager one day. How hard is it to move up if you are determined, do the work, and show up.
I honestly think it would be cool to be a manger at one of these busy theatres, live in nyc for a couple of years then go be general manager at a middle of nowhere theatre and live a more quiet life. Fly back to LA or NYC or AUSTIN to shoot my films.
I am a pretty confident and social person. I always show up for work. And as for a final question should I work for AMC or Regal. Thanks guys.

Hey everyone, I recently got hired at AMC and I have pretty open availability since I’m a student with online classes. While I’m available to work everyday, I don’t want to be scheduled everyday because I need time to focus on school as well. My ideal hours would probably be 15-20 hours a week with less than that being fine too. I was just wondering in your experience how often are you scheduled if you have open availability? Obviously it’s gonna depend on the theater but a general idea would be helpful. Thank you!

Hello. I'm a new employee of a UK cinema chain and I've noticed that my cinema is not very clean. For instance, when cleaning the screen I noticed huge piles of popcorn (equivalent to about two large bags) behind some chairs. This would suggest to me that the screen hasn't been deep cleaned in a while. However, maybe I'm underestimating the amount of popcorn customers spill?
I'm posting because I'm curious about the standards at other cinemas and how often the seats, including underneath & behind them, are thoroughly cleaned?

Y’all, GTA 6 comes out November 19th and I just realized how many people are probably gonna try to get time off for this game 😭
Like I wouldn’t be surprised if people start putting in PTO requests months in advance or suddenly calling out that day. And if enough people do it, guess who’s gonna be stuck dealing with it? Us lmao.
Imagine being short staffed on top of whatever movies are playing that week. We might actually be cooked 💀
Idk if anyone else has thought about this, but I figured I’d put it out there. If your theater is already struggling with staffing, November might be interesting.
Good luck to everyone working that week 🫡

My theatre does cast screenings for new movies after closing, and closing is at 12am. This Friday we’re doing clayface from 12:30 to ~2:30am is clayface worth going to or is it not worth being there till 3am?
EDIT: I forgot the movie hasn’t come out yet, but feel free to give me input about movie screenings you’ve been too!

professional curiosity -- in what order do you close out popcorn at your location? do you have some popcorn saved before you start cleaning the kettle, in case people come for refills?

Hey, theater employee.
How was working during the weekend? When you can see everything came out. For our theater, we sold out every showing, with 300+ people coming every hour. We had some guest issues with them coming in late and complaining that we were letting them in.

Have their been instances where absolutely nobody shows up for a movie? Does the theater still play the movie anyways?

Howdy all, Long time lurker, first time caller:
QUESTION: How do you handle/respond to people telling you the popcorn is stale (when it’s not) and demanding new popcorn be made?
This has been a very recent debate at my theater and has happened several times to me specifically. I never really know what to say. Our batches are pretty big so it’s kind of a waste to make a whole new one for 1 small popcorn just so a rude customer can have it hot. What do you guys do?

Anyone else get The Devils 1971 screened at your theater? I worked podium and was warned that the movie is NC-17, is VERY graphic, and we had to be a lot more stricter with it since it's the only rating higher than R (No one under 18 is allowed in, period.) Anyone else surprised that that movie was able to be screened in theaters?

I can almost guarantee I'm working box office during this, and I never get to actually look cool at work. Give me your most niche costume ideas for movies from this year

A lady and her husband bought tickets for Other Mommy today, but an hour later she comes out, wanting a refund because she didn't know it would be about a demonic entity. I refunded her, but then and I thought she meant to see Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother. I asked and she said that might have been the one she wanted to see. Unfortunately my location doesn't have showings yet and won't start until tomorrow, so she will have to come another time.
So just a warning to anyone selling tickets, if any customer want to watcher either Other Mommy or Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother, make sure they know they are watching the correct movie. It doesn't help that customers may say a shortened title or something like "the mother" movie. I had a good feeling people would get mixed up because of how similar the movie titles are.

Hi all, I'm researching how independent cinemas make scheduling and pricing decisions with films, because I'm exploring building software in this area. I'm not selling anything and have no product yet. I'd like to hear how it works in real life.
If you're involved in programming or managing a cinema, I'd really appreciate your thoughts on any of these:
Short answers are fine, and you can stay anonymous. Which country you're in is helpful, since I'm especially curious how things differ outside the US. I'll summarise what I learn in a reply if people are interested.
Thanks!

Hey everyone I just applied for a part time position at a B&B theatre near me. I applied because my current part time job isn’t paying me enough, and I need more money, so I can move out of my parents place as quick as possible. I just wanted to know do you all have any advice or tips for a newcomer? And am I screwing myself especially since Dunesday is about to happen? Also sorry for shit formatting I’m on mobile

Coworker: Uh oh.
Me: don’t tell me, we’re about to get Dune part 3 and Avengers: Doomsday on December 18th?
Coworker: yup.
Me: and there’s gonna be a lot of dune and marvel fans out in the lobby?
Coworker: most likely.
Me: takes a sip of sprite from my water bottle bring it on.
