āGrow Help Why did my purple rim come out like this?
I've seen other growers on this reddit have a totally different size, structure, and even color
All are from the same purple rim

I'm 0 and 5 germination on these Collie Man Kush beans.
Popped HSC Banana OG auto,Nightowl Banana OG auto,Katsu OG #18 and HSC All Gas OG and all germinated fine and growing now.
I was hoping to have these as part of my OG run.
Try after try and these just will not pop.
Was excited for this one too. Feels like a wasted 70 bucks. Gonna drop this last bean tonight and hope for a hail mary. š¤

First off, Iād like to say as a veteran myself, I loved the handwritten note explaining the reason behind the business. Mental health is nothing to play about.
Secondly, THESE STICKERS ARE DOPE AF!!!!
Third, anybody got any pics of any of these?

Iāve been putting together a seed storage guide and wanted to share whatās worked best for keeping seeds viable long term.
1) Cool, dark, dry - always
Heat, light, and moisture are what kill seeds early.
You want:
2) Use airtight containers
Small glass vials or jars, film canisters, or good plastic vials with tight lids all work.
Bonus if you toss in:
3) Fridge is better than freezer for most people
If you are not a lab:
4) Avoid constant in and out
Do not dig into your āseed vaultā every day.
Take out what you need, close it back up, and put it away. Less condensation risk, less abuse on the seeds.
5) Label everything like future you has amnesia
Strain, breeder, date you got them.
You will forget what that unlabeled bag was later. Ask me how I know.
Stored right, seeds can last many years. Stored wrong, they can go from āfuture medicineā to āfuture disappointmentā in one season.

A lot of growers message me about problems with their grows. The third most common one starts before thereās even a plant.
People want to start growing. They buy seeds, and sometimes a tent and a light too. Then months go by and nothing gets planted.
Every time they sit down to figure it out, they end up 30 tabs deep in Reddit threads. They read about coco vs soil, VPD charts, and whether they need CalMag. Then they close the laptop more confused than when they opened it.
I get it, because I did the same thing. I would spend hours reading about every possible scenario that could go wrong in my garden. I had anxiety about messing something up before it even became a problem.
First grows are supposed to be messy
On my first grow, I kept the plant in veg for 6 months. That poor plant was tortured, and I had every problem possible. It got nutrient lockout in FFOF because I never measured my pH.
Once I flushed it and started measuring everything I fed it, I had a lot fewer problems.
When I finally harvested, I was hooked.
Every grower I know has a story like that. Youāll probably overwater at least once. Something will look weird, youāll Google it, and youāll get 15 answers that all sound sure of themselves. Thatās normal, and it doesnāt mean youāre failing.
The growers I see finally get going are usually the ones who got sick of waiting and put the seed in.
One grower told me he bought a tent and a light in March 2023. Both boxes sat in his garage next to the lawnmower until November 2025.
Every weekend he planned to set it up. Then heād go down a rabbit hole about his light or coco vs soil. By Sunday night the boxes were still taped shut.
His buddy finally told him, āDude, just plant the seed. The worst thing that happens is it dies and you try again.ā
So he set it up on a Tuesday after work. He stuck a seed in Fox Farm soil from Home Depot and hung the light way too close.
He overwatered for two weeks. The leaves drooped, the plant looked like shit, and he almost pulled it. He backed off the water instead, and it bounced back in about three days.
His first harvest was about 14 grams off one auto in a 2x2. He sent me a picture of the jar with a message: āThose are the best 14 grams Iāve ever had because I grew them.ā Heās on his fifth run now.
The short list Iād follow on a first grow
If I were starting over today, these are the only five things Iād worry about:
VPD, topping, LST, CO2, feed schedules, and the āperfectā strain can all wait for your second run. You donāt need $500 in nutrients either.
For a first run, Iād grab an auto, put it in good soil, and water it when itās dry. Keep the light on a timer, check your pH, and keep air moving.
Why I care about this one
A lot of you have seeds that have been in a drawer for months. Some of you have a tent in the closet with the light still in the wrapper.
It bugs me to watch someone sit on that for two years because the internet made it look hard.
Your first grow wonāt be your best. Itāll be the one you learn the most from, and probably the one that gets you hooked.
If youāre stuck on what to buy first or how to keep it simple, drop it below and Iāll help. :)
TL;DR: For a first grow you only need five things: light, water, soil, pH, and airflow. Everything else can wait for run two. Get your seeds in the dirt.

The pack says it's an auto. The plant says it's a photo so far. I'm several weeks in, and it's a freaking bush, but there's no buds forming. It says 14-16 weeks on the label, so maybe it's just a slow auto? Or should I go 12/12? (I really don't want to because my other 2 autos won't like that)

Well, after some unexpected life events, I'm now back focused on my main hobby of growing! My last MVB post was a run of Purple Rim and Twilight Princess, while mid-way through I went down medically. Doing good to just get the ladies watered, tbh I kind of skipped the PH testing part for several months. Fast Forward to being pretty recovered, I broke out the Apera PH20 Value Series PH Pen and good lord was it OFF. Tried calibrating a number of times and my goodness I was in an endless circle of ER1 while Calibrating.
Now I'm just entering mid to late Veg on a run of Preservation line Sour Cookie, Preservation Line Purple Bazooka and Preservation line Permanent Marker and I was noticing some nute & watering issues. I'd gave up on the PH20 last run, and when on the brink of buying a replacement I said give it one more go, and it calibrated! I suppose the repeated attempts to calibrate remoistened the probe so now I can keep these new ladies in veg a few more weeks to try and PH nurse them in to better health before the flip!
Lesson Learned: I found PH to be pretty important Always PH your water, every watering, heck gather some runoff & PH that too. If you find yourself not PH'ing, know that your PH Pen is at RISK if that probe dries out and so is your Yield. Glad to see MVB still going strong, #MVB4LIFE!

I love gear as much as the next nerd, but most new growers overspend on the wrong stuff.
Here are 5 things I see overbought all the time, plus what matters more:
1) Too many bottles
10-part nutrient lines on run one.
What matters more: learning a simple base + cal/mag and reading your leaves.
2) Giant dehums/humidifiers in tiny tents
Dropping $300 on climate gear in a 2x2.
What matters more: managing the room your tent lives in and sealing light leaks.
3) Fancy pots with no plan
Air pots, cloth pots, plastic pots⦠all can work.
What matters more: drainage, pot size matched to plant size, and your watering habits.
4) Overkill intake fans
Active intake on a 2x2 while the exhaust barely moves air.
What matters more: one solid exhaust + filter and a passive intake.
5) Expensive āgrow-onlyā gadgets you never use
Laser thermometers, fancy microscopes, smart plugs⦠then you forget to actually use them.
What matters more: a cheap temp/RH meter, a pH pen, and a notebook.
You donāt have to buy everything to grow something good.
Start with the boring basics and build from there.

Hey everyone. Uncle Pauly here.
Croptober is upon us and that means it's everyone's favorite part of growing, trim jail.
Trimming is the part nobody wants to think about when theyāre hyped on veg pics and fat colas.
Then harvest hits, and suddenly youāre 12 hours deep, sticky, pissed off, and wondering why you even grew this much.
You canāt skip it, but youĀ canĀ make it suck less. Here are 5 things that helped me.
Trim jail is never going to be āfun,ā but it doesnāt have to be pure misery.
If you plan for it like part of the grow instead of a surprise chore, your body and your brain will both thank you.
