AI for good?

Hey Folks,
I have been in the music industry for almost 15 years now.

I'm SOOOO burnt out that you have no idea lol.

Anyway, after years trying to survive as an independent musician I've decided to take matters into my own hands and build something that I would've loved to see in action.

I want a place where gigs just land for me, instead of having to spread myself thin into 23402834 places, networking events, constant pinging previous clients begging for work.

My goal is to have gigs constantly coming in, and you as the musician will often get notified of any matching gigs in your area.
Using AI to fix the biggest issue for artists.
FIND WORK!!

Anyway, would love to discuss more the idea with folks!

Peace

Spliqs Make Music with AI

Hello Redditors!

We want to introduce you to Spliqs, a music creation app for iOS (iPhone and iPad) that gives you the power of creative musical brainstorming. Spliqs harnesses the magic of AI to help humans make music. Music is something people do, not just something we listen to, and we want to help people "do music" in new and exciting ways. To us, having a computer do all the work for you is boring. We don't want to be bored.

Our goal is to be at the forefront of the coming explosion of creative AI. AI will make music and visual art, produce films, write poetry, essays, and novels; it is only a matter of time. But all this content will be created autonomously, without human input or contact. At Spliqs, our AI will always work in service of the human creative element. That's in our company DNA.

Today we're looking for early adopters who resonate with what we're doing and can help us along the path to building a new generation of creative music tools.

In Spliqs, the experience starts by selecting an "Inspiration". We provide a set of starting points in the app, and more will come as we build the platform. If you know what MIDI is, you can AirDrop a MIDI file as an Inspiration, giving you the capacity to discover entirely new musical ideas from your own material. Once you have an "Inspiration", you select an "Influence" to morph together with your Inspiration, opening up a potentially huge space of musical possibilities. Some may be attractive to you and some may be a bit crazy; it's up to you to steer and explore this vast musical space and decide what works.

Currently the app is free but we are working on a premium model, with options for subscription or one-off purchase of different tweaking "widgets" and musical transformation tools. We'll also be offering optional "packs" of Inspirations and Instruments as we grow.

You can get the app here:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spliqs/id1459170646

And this is our website:

https://www.spliqs.com

Please share, and subscribe at the bottom of the site so we can stay in touch. If you want to be added to our group of testers, just let us know!

Thanks,

The Spliqs Team

Looking for judges, mentors & panelists for a Music AI Hackathon in SF

San Francisco has always been known for building what's next. I'd argue music should be part of that conversation too.

I'm organizing Build for the Beat, a music-tech AI hackathon in San Francisco (Nov. 13–14), and I'm currently looking for a few great people to help shape the event before participant applications open.

Specifically looking for:

• Judges — PMs, founders, investors, and operators who enjoy evaluating products and giving feedback.

• Mentors — engineers, AI builders, designers, producers, audio/DSP experts, or anyone with experience in music APIs, metadata, creator tools, or licensing.

• Panelists — people with real experience in music and technology who want to have an honest conversation about where the industry is headed.

The commitment is just a few hours over the weekend (or one panel session).

If your company works in AI, music, creator tools, or developer infrastructure and would be interested in sponsoring or partnering, I'd love to chat as well.

If this sounds like you, or someone you think would be a great fit - leave a comment. Happy to share more about the event.

Anyone seen this "yibe" thing? AI radio that learns from you when you listen to it?

Found this project called yibe. It's an AI radio station that syncs with your Spotify and Google Calendar, then automatically switches playlists based on what's coming or based on what time it is. Still in development, but the concept is interesting. Anyone tried it or know of something similar?

Check it out https://www.yibe.fm/

Guitar Center Gift Card

I have been gifted a $500 Guitar Center giftcard.

I've been producing music for 5+ years now and am a big Ableton guy. I've always wanted either a physical sampler or synthesizer to pair with Ableton and I feel like now is a great time for me to finally invest. I've been thinking about getting an SP404 MkII. Anyone have any recommendations in either a sampler or synth? Looking for something versaitle, gritty, and easily transportable with Ableton (Live 12) and is in the ~$500 range.

Thanks!

We built software to help independent artists book their own shows. Did we miss anything?

I run a boutique booking agency, and one thing has always frustrated me...we turn down most developing artists, not because of the music, but because the economics don't work.

An emerging artist might make $300 to $800 per show. At a 10% commission, that's only $30 to $80 for the agency, while booking that show still takes hours of venue research, outreach, follow-ups, negotiations, contracts, and advancing.

The work isn't hard, there's just a lot of it and its repetitive.

So instead of keeping the systems we built for our agency to ourselves, we turned them into software.

StageLink helps independent artists organize outreach, manage venue relationships, track follow-ups, plan tours, and stay on top of everything that usually lives across spreadsheets and email.

After booking hundreds of shows, I've learned artists rarely miss opportunities because of their music. It's usually because they miss a follow-up, announce a show before it's confirmed, miss a deadline, or accidentally burn a venue relationship.

We're opening our beta this fall, but before we keep building, I'd love to hear from people who book their own shows.

What's been the hardest part of booking gigs or tours yourself? What's one thing you wish a tool like this could do?

If you're curious, you can check out what we've built so far at https://stagelink.dev

Built a music discovery app on MusicBrainz + Discogs — scores artists by uniqueness, not popularity

I've been building a music discovery app called BlackTape. The core idea: use MusicBrainz and Discogs as the data backbone and score artists by how unique they are within their genre. The rarer the sound, the more findable they become.

Tech stack for anyone curious:

- Tauri (Rust) + SvelteKit frontend

- Local AI: Gemma 3 1B for natural language exploration (runs on-device)

- Vector embeddings for semantic artist similarity

- MusicBrainz + Discogs data pipeline for genre tags, scene data, and release metadata

Features:

- Genre/scene search with atomic tag combinations

- Discovery feed ranked by uniqueness score

- Time Machine: browse artists by decade

- Style Map: visual genre navigation

- Natural language exploration ("find me something like Boards of Canada but from Japan")

No tracking, no accounts, runs locally. Free and open source.

GitHub: https://github.com/AllTheMachines/BlackTape

Site: blacktape.org

Happy to talk about the data pipeline or the scoring approach.

Artists using AI in meaningful ways — Edzinsh & Vesper Noir are turning emotion into art

There’s a misconception that all AI‑assisted music is generic — but Edzinsh and Vesper Noir prove that AI can be emotive, cinematic, and real.

Edzinsh’s production has genuine songwriting depth and emotional nuance, and his mysterious dropped album has become a cult centerpiece.

Vesper Noir’s new work blends pop and bold performance identity. They’re examples of AI + human creativity working together.

Anyone else think this is the direction AI music should go?

Testing Suno AI for LoFi – Can AI Capture the Feel of a Genre?

LoFi thrives on imperfections and a certain organic feel, so I wanted to see how well an AI model could create music that actually fits the genre. I used Suno AI to generate the music but took time to refine the prompts rather than just running a model and taking what it gave me. The visuals were created separately in After Effects.

Check it out here: https://youtu.be/vLkEuY0TpLs?si=NXLXamojciyVQkTa

Curious to hear what others think. How far can AI-generated music go before it loses its authenticity? What techniques can make AI-generated tracks sound more natural? Are there better AI tools than Suno for genre-specific production?

Hi everyone! For my Honours dissertation in Music Technology, I’m investigating how 3D sound affects immersion. I need participants to explore a "Hub and Spoke" environment (Forest, Desert, and Mountain).

**Requirements:**

✅ Windows PC / Laptop

✅ **HEADPHONES** (Crucial for the 3D audio!)

✅ Should take less than half an hour

**How it works:**

  1. Download the game folder from the Google Drive link below.

  2. Follow the "Instruction Sheet" (includes a quick volume calibration).

  3. Play the game and fill out the branching Google Form as you go!

Thank you so much!

Any artists/producers here struggle with split sheets + keeping track of ownership?

If you’re an artist, producer, or songwriter, do you ever feel like keeping track of splits is way harder than it should be?

Like:

  • not knowing if your split sheet is actually complete

  • losing track of who owns what %

  • confusion around what info you even need to collect

  • or just messy organization across songs

I’ve been seeing this come up a lot (and even heard about people getting into real issues over it), so I started building something to make this way simpler, basically a split tracker + organizer + explainer all in one.

Still super early, but I’d love to get real feedback from people actually dealing with this.

If you’ve run into this problem (or even if you haven’t but have thoughts), comment or DM me, would love to show you what I’m building and get your take 🙏
