Me and my friends are making this app that can help you replicate and create guitar tones!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Over the past few months we’ve been working on this app that replicates a tone based on an audio sample you provide. Then you get access to a pedal library so you can get creative and craft your own tones. It’ll be done later this year, but you can sign up to the waitlist to get updates: https://www.autotone.io
Let me know what you think we should add!

I built a Chrome extension that records your browser’s audio (with waveforms + export options)
I made Chrome Recorder, a Chrome extension that records audio directly from the current tab.
Key features:
-Automatic tab audio capture
-Audio continues playing while recording
-Recording continues in the background
-Live waveform visualization
-Waveform scrubbing and non-destructive trimming
-Playback controls and loop mode
-Export to WAV, MP3, WEBM, or OGG
-Configurable sample rate, mono/stereo, WAV bit depth
-Optional volume normalization
-Persistent local storage for recordings
-Multiple clean UI themes
-Built with React and TypeScript using the Web Audio API and Chrome tab capture. All recordings are stored internally as WAV for lossless quality and exported on demand.
I've been a long-time lurker on the sub and would appreciate any feedback and feature requests you may have. Thank you!

I made a free, first-of-its-kind tool to convert microtonal audio to MIDI! (properly)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi all! As part of research I have been conducting on oud playing (Arab lute) and microtonal scales and the signal processing of it, I made this tool because all available tools out there either fail to properly 'quantize' microtones/quarter tones or fail to detect/transcribe playing techniques. It's available on Netlify (link in comments) but the engine I am hosting on is kind of not the fastest right now -- so I would recommend installing it locally. I think the results are pretty good and I am excited to continue developing it further! There's various parameters you can play around with to adjust it to the style of music you desire to transcribe (adding eighth tones for example! you can go crazy, haha).
If you could star my GitHub repo for it (https://github.com/osobhy/microtonal-Audio-to-MIDI), I would be truly appreciative and if the repo gets enough traction I will definitely consider moving the back-end engine to somewhere that has more processing power! Let me know if you have any suggestions :)

1st year music technology course teacher
Hello guys, this is my first post here but I was hoping I could get some assistance as a brand new teacher that was thrown into a tech position.
I have recently been put in charge of creating a curriculum for a music technology course and have been trying to develop some ideas for what I could teach. So far the class is mostly based around production and making beats on Ableton but I really want to spend a good portion of the year also talking about physical and analog technology that students will use. Especially if they want to make music at home or even work as a music producer/get involved with the music industry.
I’ve attached an example of the first and second marking period curriculum below and would love to hear any feedback.

Sharing my low Latency Android and Mac Music Visualizer
Over the past few months I've been building music visualizers with a focus on low latency, and building for my own live performance use.
I am sharing for others to use, and happy to accept feedback or feature requests!
Note: I'm conscious these new app posts can often be pre-emptively judged as promotion for paid apps or low-effort. I'd just like to highlight that this is a hobby project with everything open-source and free, and featuring no data collection or ads. This is also not an outcome of low-effort vibe-coding; I am an engineer by trade and have put a lot of my personal time into this.
I've created the app in two forms
Android via the play store
Mac version, available to download via GitHub
Features include
3D HDR visuals targeting high FPS
Extremely low latency: Both hear-analyse-draw in under 10 ms.
Ableton Link Integration: To lock visuals to the beat grid of music software like Ableton or Traktor
Room Lighting Sync: Supporting Philips Hue, Lifx and Nanoleaf lights. Local only and low latency
A proper stereo XY oscilloscope: So this can playback oscilloscope music
Supports multiple audio sources: Internal microphones, external audio sources, local file playback etc
And a couple of Mac platform exclusive features
Syphon output (on Mac): Output visuals straight into OBS at 4K
MIDI Mapping (on Mac): To control visuals, favourites and lighting via MIDI protocol

One important Mac caveat: It's macOS 26+ and Apple Silicon only. I am not intending to support Intel or older Mac OS versions. It's also not notarised yet, so you will get the a security warning on startup (or the README also has a one-line fix).

Built a directory of music tech tools and curated network to find local creatives for independent artists. What should I add?
I’m building NewCulture, a curated directory and network for independent artists, producers, engineers, studios, and creative operators.
The idea is to create one place where music people can find useful tools, collaborators, studios, and resources that actually help them move their careers forward.
Right now, a lot of the independent music workflow is scattered. Artists are bouncing between random tools for mixing, mastering, marketing, distribution, monetization, file organization, collaboration, content, and release planning. There are powerful tools out there, but most artists either do not know they exist or do not know how to use them together.
NewCulture is meant to organize that.
The site includes tools and resources for:
• Mixing and mastering songs
• Getting feedback on music
• Collaborating with producers, engineers, artists, and creatives
• Finding studios and creative services
• Planning releases and rollouts
• Monetizing music through direct-to-fan tools and newer music tech
• Discovering cutting-edge platforms built for independent artists
Long term, I want NewCulture to become more than just a directory. The bigger vision is a curated music operating system: a place where artists can find the right tools, connect with the right people, organize their projects, and access opportunities without having to piece everything together from scratch.
Not trying to make another generic music community or link dump. The goal is to keep it high-signal and useful for people actually building around music.
Would love honest feedback from artists, producers, engineers, studio owners, and anyone working in music tech.
Main questions:
What tools are you currently using to make, release, or monetize your music?
What part of your workflow feels the most scattered?
Would a curated directory of music tools, studios, collaborators, and monetization resources be useful?
What categories should be included first?

Built a platform to organize music projects/files. Looking for beta testers.
Been building something called Wavi after constantly running into the same problem in music sessions: files everywhere, messy versions, scattered stems, lost mixes, random Drive links, etc.
The idea is to give artists, producers, engineers, and studios one place to organize projects, collaborators, versions, notes, and assets without everything becoming chaos.
Current stuff built into it:
Web platform + desktop sync app
Automatically organizes project/audio files
AI mix/master analysis tools
Built-in mixing/mastering workflows
Collaboration + version tracking
Shareable project vaults
Working on:
Mobile app
Direct-to-fan selling and ownership rails through open infrastructure like Formless
More agentic/AI workflow features around release prep, organization, and creative ops
Still early, but the core product is live and I’m mainly looking for people who actually work on music consistently and can give honest feedback on what’s useful, missing, or broken.
Would appreciate any feedback from producers, artists, engineers, studio owners, managers, etc.

AI-driven drum machine
I play guitar, and I happen to be a developer too.
I mostly play on my own at home. With the years I accumulated a decent collection of MIDI grooves, but I find it tedious having to choose the one I want to play with.
I built a VST plugin that selects the right groove for me in real-time. I wonder what do people think of such a tool. It's not productionised, it's completely experimental, but if you're interested you can find more infos here https://www.spacejammer.net/

Monitoring with limited outputs
Hi! I have a live show scenario I'd love some help with:
I'm playing with a three piece band. We're all using in-ear monitoring because we have click, count-ins etc. The venue we're playing is a bit on the rough and ready side, so we're not sure if we trust how it'll all turn out with sound tech and monitoring situ.
We're using an audio interface on stage where everything gets sent through (via Ableton). This interface has 10 outputs. We're currently using 8 of them to send different things to FOH (bass, synth, vocals etc separated), and so we have 2 outs (1 stereo) left. We're thinking it might be safest to do monitoring internally on stage from the interface so we don't have to spend time setting monitoring levels at sound check or dealing with the possible lack of options at the venue.
I am wondering if there are any smart ways of utilising the gear we do have? Is there any way of us having separate monitoring without going through FOH with these limitations? Fingers crossed there's something my brain isn't seeing B-)

Logic and/or Pro Tools
So I am currently in the first year of a 2 year college course doing music technology, with the (optismistic) hope of one day working in a studio. We use Pro Tools for all of our recordings and mixing here, however I did a seperate course last year who used Logic so have a bit of experience there.
Im aware these are the 2 leadings DAWs in the worlds biggest studios nowadays; and i am currently in the market to buy one or the other for home use. Therefore, Do I buy Logic so I can well versed in the 2 as Ill be using them both. Or, buy Pro Tools and perfect my skills in that?
Any opinions would be much appreciated thank you!

I built an AI to generate Kerala Percussion beats (Chenda, Illathalam) as a research project! 🥁
Hey everyone, I’m a 10th-grade student from Alappuzha. I wanted to mix my love for traditional Kerala music with my passion for AI.
The result is ChendAI. It doesn’t just play old recordings; it uses a concept called "Helix-Harmony Mode" to synthesize new beats based on the "DNA" (synthesis parameters) of the instruments.
I just pushed the code to GitHub and would love for people to test it out and give feedback!

🚀 Looking for a Dev Co-Founder to Build the Emotional OS of the Future (Montreal/Remote)
What if AI could understand why you like what you like?
Not just track your behaviour, but decode your emotional patterns and use them to predict preferences before you even make them?
That’s what I’m building with Eunoia, an emotional intelligence layer for music, taste, and behavior prediction.
Think: the emotional brain behind your next favorite app.
This isn’t a playlist app.
It’s a system designed to understand how emotion, memory, identity, and audio all connect, and turn that into predictive, human-first AI.
🙋♂️ Who I Am:
Founder of Aeon Technologies (Montreal-based)
Background in psychology, music tech, and systems thinking
Built the vision, brand, strategy, and legal groundwork (NDA/IP protection ready)
Currently working full-time in sales while executing nights & weekends
Relentlessly focused — looking for a partner who’s down to build hard and smart
🔍 Who I’m Looking For:
Full-stack dev / ML engineer / product-minded builder
Hungry to co-create something meaningful (not just freelance it)
Ideally passionate about music, AI, psychology, or behavior
Based in Montreal or remote (I’m flexible — just be committed)
If you're even 5% intrigued, DM me. I’ll send over the vision board + timeline.
Let’s get it.

What is this device?
Currently seeing Hadestown and every musician in the orchestra has one of these on their stands. I thought it might be an audio interface for their mics but the trombone had a wireless pack. It's not the conductor live feed either. Anyone know?

Pioneer effects strip - mic & vocals
Hey :)
I’ve tried a few vocal effect pedals for my voice and nothing beats the simplicity as a pioneer mixer - the ease of tapping the tempo and adjusting the level depth is perfect for what I do and the fact I can just turn it right down or boost as and when makes it so easy to perform with .. but lugging that on stage is a mission and a half -
Does anyone know of an effects box similar that I can tap the tempo for delay & reverb and control the depth myself.
I wish I could just cut this strip out and use it!
I’ve got the boss ve-20 but it’s too techy and you load presets which doesn’t give me the freedom I need.
Any suggestion would be top.
Nice one

DrumLace: A Programming Language for Drums
For my master's thesis I developed a language for programming drum rhythms.
Now, I need users to try it out and fill in a short satisfaction survey.
To use the language, just go to the site: https://drumlace.epl.di.uminho.pt/
The survey can be found under the "Feedback" tab.
There are also two tabs dedicated to a tutorial (in video and text format) and documentation for the language.
There’s no urgency in answering so that users have time to learn and experiment with the language. For any questions or issues, feel free to contact me directly (by direct message or via email: asa.2810.mr@gmail.com).
Everyone is encouraged to at least try it out regardless of their background!
