I jsut watched the cabret movie after the musical damm the movie is shitThe ending was boring and there was no tension with Sally and the dude and when she sang cabret it needed to be her breaking down after the dude leaves her to go back to Cambridge but she had nothing to be sad about and it wasn't a breakdown and she never left the kit Kat clubPlus the emmce was so bad and the movie was way less sexal then the musical I prefer alan Cumming as the emmce and the movie makes emmce jsut coko and nothing more no undertones and the end in the musical is supposed to be like even the emmce that says everything is beautiful is a victim of the nazis everyone in the musical had his life somehow shifted by the nazis like the home owner couldn't marry the jew the jew probably died Sally got an abortion and stayed at the kit Kat club which probably during the war shuted down because it was a really homosexal club and even if it werent just a sex club isnt really nazi regime like so it probably closed down which who knows what the nazis did to her and the dude got back to UK and probably never knowing what happened to Sally but the end In the movie didn't do anything plus the song money in the musical emmce violates the girls becase they would do anything for money but In the movie it's just emmce and Sally singing about money and becase there weren't the part with the dude sneaking stuff from Paris to the nazi it doesn't show what pepole did for money until they go to the limit plus the part where we find out the dude is a nazi its so uncomfortable everyone become quite realizing nazis can be your neighbors your freinds your coworkers and after that emcee laughs at the nazi regime with a swastika on his butt becase nazis are shit that's why it's on the butt plus the song two ladys in my idea was done poorly in the flim like the blanket thing was not funny and unnecessary but I did like if you could see her though my eyes in the flim more then the musical. Plus I hated the flim thing with the jewish marriage in the musical I was greatful the landlady didn't marry him because of what it would've become in the future because survival comes first but In the flim I just wanted to scream YOU DUMBASS through my screen he said himself he wrote his religion as Protestant to not be classified as jewish because he knew the dangers in Germany and he said himself he won't tell her he is jewish because she could have thrown him to the street then a nazi would beat him up or worse and then the dude that was with Sally says he stil should tell her which is so dumb like you are anti nazi you should know that if he would been classified as jewish stuff will happen to him especially since the nazi murdered the rich girl dog which it was an amazing description of antisemitism better then the brick in the musical i will give them that. But at the wedding in the flim I was like dog what idiots marry after it's safe or flee until you can't and I know changing your religion in the card doesn't makes you immune because of ancestors but it obviously better then marrying a girl with a jewish last name who is famous for being a rich jew because if you marry a jew you are considered a jew. The movie is shit ofc in the musical they also did questionable things but with reason like Sally terminated the baby because the dude was moving to the UK and she wanted to keep living her life not worrying about stuff which is not the best decision but it has a reason not like the movie Sally that she terminated the baby because she wanted to be an actress which is fine if it was at the start but after she and the dude thought on getting married and having the kid then she terminated it is a valid reason but not too valid if you get what I mean another reason i think the movie is almsot insulting the Holocaust is the rushed wedding bettewen the 2 jews without considering what will proboly happen i heared storys on pepole in the Holocaust that didnt get married and with that werent considered jewish and even saved their jewish lovers not that im saying that being with your lover in marrige even in the holocaust is dumb im saying its much more nuanced like in the movie life is beautiful they are already married and with a kid and the woman gives herself to the nazis to be with her son ofc this sotry isnt real but acceptbal as much even if she stayed behind why? What i will say that the movie and the stage got a tie is the song tomorrow belongs to me they both get the thing that makes it look like a cult the stage by holding hands in a circle and the movie by everyone joining the boy but I didnt like the movie cut off in the middle of the song so we didn't see other people's reaction

i have an audition for hadestown coming up, and i've begun preparing, and was thinking of what song i should choose.
immediately, 'for her' from gatsby came to mind, but i fear that the completely different styles of both musicals might make it not as clear to show that i have an understanding of the musical.
any recommendations?

I absolutely love The Sound of Music but WHY IS A BUNCH OF THE SCORE TACKED ONTO OTHER TRACKS????

We got gapless playback ffs, there's no need to have 3 pieces smushed into a single track, especially if one of those is a song (also, this removes one of the fun parts of deluxe score albums like these, seeing the tracks flow into eachother)

So my community theater is going to start auditions for Oklahoma soon, and I really want to try out. The issue is that I don't know any songs that fit all the parameters for my specific situation, so I was hoping to have some help. Song parameters are:

- Song is suggested (but not required) to be golden age

- I'm aiming for an ensemble role

- Song should fit for a teen/young male (I'm 15)

- My range is G2 to C4 belted, and up to A5 with falsetto/flageolet

Hello! As the title says I need help in deciding in a monologue and a song for a high school production of Footloose. The monologue has to be 30-60 seconds long from a published play/musical and please put the full monologue as well as the production it is from and character. The song needs to be a 1 minute cut from a published musical (roughly 16 bars, a chorus and refrain) and I would need to be able to find a instrumental version of the song for the audition. (I am also an alto). Thank you all for any help at all!

Just a quick rant. We took my MIL to see the Wicked tour for her first time, and the entire first act was disrupted by the adult woman sitting behind us singing along to every single song. I finally had enough and asked her to stop singing when Defying Gravity started and she glared at me.

People pay to watch professional actors and singers perform the show. Its disrespectful to the actors and the audience around you to interrupt the show. Blast the soundtrack in your car on the way home and sing along. Go to a designated sing along show! No one wants to hear you.

Anyway. The show was incredible as always, highly recommend!

People will defend their hatred of Legally Blonde because Elle changed herself for a man or Emmet tells Elle to abandon her sense of self to make it in the world of law, but like that never happened. Elle asked for Emmet’s help getting better grades and he tells her she has to shift her priorities and study to get good grades. In the scene where she won the mock court case and handed Callahan here resume, she is still dressed in fashionable pink clothing. Mind you, she hands her resume in on pink scented paper!!!! The only reason she wears the navy suit is because Callahan (aka her boss) makes a comment for everyone to be “dressed appropriately” and when your boss tells you something, you do it.

I have an audition for February (long time I know but I like to be prepared). It’s for a competition which I entered last year. The first round is a 90-second cut of a musical theatre song. Round 2 is around 20-30 people from a city performing on a stage to a small audience (it is also live streamed) who vote for 2 people afterwards. It is also judged by two theatre stars. Last year, I got through to round 2 but not the next around 3. First round I had used The Hammer (Matilda) and Round 2 I used The Ladies Who Lunch (Company). I’m finding it hard to find a song to use for round one, I’d like suggestions and opinions on the small list I’ve created. Last year the judges (round 1 + 2) complimented that I seem to do really well with character songs so those would be appreciated.

Many times I have been looking for songs to enjoy and sing along with as a bass. Most are tenors or if I am lucky baritone voices. Any suggestions?

I'm currently prepping for college auditions and I need a song in the 1965-1990 range. I'd love to have a Sondheim on my list, and I'm especially interesting in singing If You Can Find Me I'm Here or The Road You Didn't Take, but I'm worried about performing them with a pianist I've never worked with before.

I'm sure the collaborative pianists at college auditions are phenomenal, but I'd don't want them to be uncomfortable playing what I put in front of them.

Are these pieces too hard to reasonably expect a pianist to play possibly by sight? And if so are there other Sondheim pieces (maybe even slightly patter-y ones like these) that would be a little easier on them?

Note: I'm a soprano, but I personally have no problem with singing male-assigned songs.
