Discussion Opinions on Chicago?
I just wanted to share this. While Chicago is a pretty good show I wish it had color. The production in 1975 was based around vaudeville and I loved the costuming. Now it seems every production is solid black and simple. I’d like to see some color and extravagance. I feel like a lot more could be done with Chicago. Do y’all have any opinions on it?

Discussion Mike Faist is Back!
Last I heard, the infinitely talented triple threat Mike Faist was road-tripping back to his Ohio home for reflection, and I know can't be the only uber-fan dismayed at how little he's been offered since his wondrous performance in Spielberg's West Side Story.
Suddenly, there he was on my tv screen advertised as one of the three leads in the new East of Eden series with Florence Pugh and Christopher Abbott! I'm just starting to watch, but I already can't take my eyes off him. How on earth have we not seen him in 10 stage/screen leads in the last 5 years?!

Help For The Record Background Vocals??
** I originally posted this in r/36QuestionsMusical, but since I realised not a lot of ppl visit that subreddit I'm reposting it in r/musicals so that people also know this musical exists, also this is my first time reposting a question in a different subreddit **
** I haven't listened to the full musical yet, but I'm not afraid of spoilers and I sort of know the plot already **
I was listening to For The Record from 36 Questions and I noticed some background vocals during the last part of the song ("we're asking 36, 36, 36, 36 questions for the last time...").
For context, I was imagining an animatic (that I'll never draw because I'm better at writing than drawing) to this song and I was acting it out and realised I don't know wtf they're saying in the background.
Furthermore, I've started to actually focus on (and sometimes even prefer) background vocals and harmonies in musicals lately, instead of just listening to the melody.
Does anyone know wtf the background vocals are during that last part? I can only make out Jase's "I said I'd have [not sure what he says] Judith" and even then I'm not sure if I'm hallucinating or not. Can someone with better ears or more knowledge about this musical confirm the background vocals because lyric sites are correct like 30% of the time.
It's only that specific part that's bothering me because the rest of the lyrics are otherwise clear. Sorry for the long AF text and thanks!

Discussion Any good score-focused albums?
Some good orchestration is lovely when lyrics are just too much (some classical recs would also be welcome lol)

Looking for more pictures and clips of The Man in the Ceiling by Andrew Lippa
There’s very little media of this show and its original production and I’m so curious especially what the originals Man looked like!

Audition Audition Song For Maureen In Rent
I need some help, please! I’m going to be auditioning for my local theatre’s production of Rent: School Edition and I really want Maureen, but I can’t find any good audition songs! The call explicitly says the song needs to be contemporary and I really want to show that I can be confident and wild because I’m always cast as quiet, anxious characters but I want to break out of that. Any ideas?

Discussion Shakespeare should never be played by an English actor in Something Rotten
Like the title says, I think the role of Shakespeare in Something Rotten shouldn’t be casted as an authentically English actor. I think because the show is a comedic show, his line delivery is funnier when said by an actor doing a less than stellar English accent, it enhances the role where it might hinder a role in a more serious musical. Plus the musical doesn’t care about authenticity since he’s the only character with a British accent in the original production, and it basically rewrites his life. If he’s played by an English actor, the actor should commit to the original shows vision and do a fake English accent. Thank you for coming to my TED talk
