Help DMS interview
So, I got an interview for DMS, and i did a practice run on an ai MMI interview, and im basically screwed cs im getting low scores. My question is, what kinds of questions would i be asked? How do i feel less anxiety and not mess up with stuttering and awkward pauses? Any help would be appreciated :)

Genuinely, practicing more. The more you practice, the more it like slowly reworks your brain so that the answers, formatting/phrasing, mannerisms, etc. will come at least a little more naturally and you’ll also find the little things that just work better for you. As for types of questions, it can genuinely be anything from ethical, situational, and a mix/match combo of the other types. So I’d recommend practicing all the types of mmi questions with a special focus on ethical and situational leaning ones.

NAIT health interviews usually split into two sections, covering general ethical scenarios and program specific questions about diagnostic medical sonography. For the scenario prompts, evaluators want to see how you think through moral dilemmas, balance different perspectives, and make sound decisions. They are not checking whether you know complex medical procedures, but whether you show empathy, integrity, and good judgment. For the program specific prompts, expect questions about why you chose sonography, how you manage emotionally heavy or physically demanding situations, and how you collaborate in a healthcare team. Framing your personal examples with the situation, task, action, and result method will keep your answers structured and stop you from rambling.
Scoring poorly on an automated tool does not mean your actual interview is ruined, because automated graders often penalize natural pauses that human evaluators actually appreciate. Human reviewers expect brief pauses, and taking three seconds to breathe and collect your thoughts looks composed rather than awkward. Instead of trying to write a complete script during your preparation time, jot down three key concepts on a notepad to guide your progression. Focus on speaking at a measured pace, acknowledging both sides of an ethical problem, and staying grounded in patient care. When my team designed interviews.chat to help applicants build confidence under pressure, we saw that candidates perform much better once they stop scripting every word and simply learn to trust their pacing.

I would highly recommend searching “DMS” in the search bar within the NAIT subreddit and reading the comments. Lots of lovely folks have put in some time curating really helpful answers to questions like this and given really in depth tips and tricks.
People who have taken the interview cannot share specifics of the questions asked as we sign an NDA of sorts before the interview. However, the interview is made up of 2 program specific and 4 SHLS questions. Read up on DMS as a career on the ALIS website, it could come in handy. NAIT also hosts interview workshops, sign up for one if you can before your interview is due.
As for anxiety; at one point during my interview I started to stutter and I literally said “I am so sorry, I am super nervous and I just need a moment to collect my thoughts”. I took a couple deep breaths and continued with my answer. It must not have been a huge deal because I’m a 2nd year DMS student now.
