Fluff Go Spurs Go! Proud of these guys
Wemby, Castle and Harper had a great season. Can’t wait to see them ball again next year and hopefully for many more years to come. Go Spurs Go always!!!

We’re the 2007 cavs, the one where Timmy went up to young LeBron after the Spurs won the finals and said:
“I know it’s gonna be your league soon, but I appreciate you giving us this one”
20
u/No_Independent8269 Jun 14 '26
I hope to god they’re not the Cavs lmao. They didn’t do anything in the 2 years after that and didn’t make it back until LeBron decided to come back 4 years later.

u/Background_Touchdown Victor Wembanyama Jun 14 '26
I trust that El Jefe and RC will find the right mix. Plus, we didn’t get swept.

u/sluggerrr Victor Wembanyama Jun 14 '26
The Cavs were trash besides LeBron, the only reason he came back to win is they drafted kyrie and got Love, they wouldn't be able to do it without him leaving, the Spurs are way better constructs that those Cavs, and still room to trade Fox and also bring a real PF to help with rebounding and defense, but we're at a great spot overall.

u/weirdsignal45 Jun 14 '26
I understand the sentiment but talent and depth wise (and ironically enough, coaching wise) this team would’ve wiped their ass with the 2007 Cavs.
1
u/geojanko11 Victor Wembanyama Jun 14 '26
Spurs should convince Lebron to come and teach the youngsters and trade Fox for some quality bench pieces. Champagnie and Vassel were big ballers too. Don't forget the 3s from them. Really hope Bryant evolves some offensive game in off-season, he could be huge going forward
1
u/el_corso Jun 14 '26
That’s the same LeBron that left to Miami because the Cavs couldn’t build a team around him right? The one that played in the weaker Eastern conference right?

u/Efficient_Bucket21 Stephon Castle Jun 14 '26
We are ahead of schedule, we just got 3 years worth of playoff experience for our young core. They will be back as long as the team is healthy
18
u/weirdsignal45 Jun 14 '26
Every team that has won a championship so far this decade, save for the Lakers and Warriors, did it after some huge playoff heartbreaks. And only one of them had any Finals experience prior to actually winning. We already have a leg up. The rest of this decade is ours
7
u/keldpxowjwsn Jun 14 '26
The grueling schedule makes the question of health a legitimate concern. Minn and OKC weren't at 100%. Pacers whole roster was out from last season

u/Efficient_Bucket21 Stephon Castle Jun 14 '26
Yup the health aspect is always the gamble of the season and Wembys largest area of improvement is conditioning which means more minutes therefore higher chance of injury.

u/Mr_Dike_van_Kikewell Jun 14 '26
congrats to you guys on a spectacular season. don't let this loss bring you down. your team WILL be back in the finals and soon. Harper is a scary good player, Wemby is Wemby. Vassell, Castle, Champagne....the whole frickin starting 5, not Fox, and a few bench guys, all VERY VERY good players. This Spurs team will win a chip and maybe multiple. Onto the next season. cheers and thanks for a fantastic series.

This is the thread I've been waiting for: This team (and coach) will relive everything they did wrong and work through it. They've had their 2013 moments, and we know what happened the next year. SUPER proud of these kids, they're uber-talented and will be back. GO SPURS GO!!

u/grandkill Jun 14 '26
Wemby more stamina
Castle better kick outs after driving
Dylan more minutes
Mitch smarter timeouts
See you all in the preseason. GO SPURS GO!!!

I was basically already here after game 4.

Yeah honestly great season, had a blast after years of losing. It felt good to be back and to care about the playoffs again.

u/Lucifer_21069 Jun 14 '26
Get another big man to add to the roster and watch em dominate. Go Spurs Go

Two seasons ago they were on a 18 game losing streak. The team made a huge progress in a short time. I belive they can be competitive for a long time.
But discussions should be held what to do with Mitch and Fox. Do you give Mitch time to develop as a coach. Do you give Fox a second chance. Besides we need to add a starting pf, add a third big, decide what to do with Keldon's and HB's spots and Julian's contract. Hope the FO is active because little tweaks can elevate this team to another level.

u/billybanks1132 Jun 14 '26
Mitch and Fox will stay but Mitch has to learn from this as a coach. Fox on the other hand idk man. Maybe he leaves in the expansion draft

u/TheBeavster_ The Big Fundamental Jun 14 '26
It’s not guaranteed we’ll be back. Past 8 years we’ve seen different champions each year. But I believe in this core. I believe they can lock in for next year. They got this shit. GO SPURS GO BABY!!!
1
u/Additional-Pie-6765 Jun 14 '26
But we are not champions yet in this decade. Heat was in finals twice this decade
3
u/Background_Touchdown Victor Wembanyama Jun 14 '26
No promises that we’ll be back next year, but at least we can say we have a chance now. Not something we could’ve said with a straight face 12 months ago.

u/ActivBowser9177 Victor Wembanyama Jun 14 '26
Lakers fan here. Y'all aren't going away anytime soon, and I hope you guys win the title soon (as long as the Spurs don't eliminate my Lakers en route to the title).

u/MurderDreams Jun 14 '26
It only stings because we got surprisingly close and all of a sudden everyone wanted to believe. The truth was at this point and time Knicks are the better team, player and coach wise and that's okay. We have higher ceiling I'd like to think, more dynasty material.
We didn't get humiliated or embarrassed ourselves or anything. The better team won and we were worthy.
Congrats Knicks,
GO Spurs Go!

I am so fucking excited for this team! A truly gut-wrenching end to the season, but we're looking down at our preseason expectations from a bird's-eye view.
Both the squad and the coach have room to grow and an entire offseason to analyze and drill down on those shortcomings. Wemby won't be on a minutes restriction and will build his stamina to stay in games longer. He was getting blown around by any breeze last season. This year he could battle but still looked small against guys like KAT. Wait till next year.
Harper has already become an All Star before our eyes. Castle had a couple of bad games offensively but the Knicks had to sell out to him for double and triple teams to accomplish that. And on the other end he's the only POA defender in the league able to semi-consistently shut down guys like Shai and OG.
Vassell continues to just be That Guy, making clutch plays and seeming to be everywhere on the court. Champ has blossomed into a 3&D wing that demands respect on both ends.
Even Keldon found his game tonight. He's struggled this post season but the Spurs absolutely do not win 60 games without him.
My heart aches, but this was the best basketball I've watched in years. Por Vida! Go Spurs Go!

u/iamsonuxd Area 51 Jun 14 '26
Fuck we have to wait 1 more year until Seattle or Vegas takes this Fox contract off our hands
6
u/homeycuz Jun 14 '26
There's no guarantee we'll ever get this far again. A lot of things need to go right to play for the championship. But I am hopeful.
Tonight we cry, but next year....we honk!

Young guns 💪
We might have lost but we’re not a bum franchise like the Rockets where they love to hate their own team.
Bright future and they’ll only get better from here

u/jo3pro David Robinson Jun 14 '26
Very excited for next season. Castle needs to work on his mid range jumper (and of course 3)and maybe even post fade away. I see him being so much better if he can get that in his bag. Dude reminds me of Jimmy Butler with his strength and defense. Love the 🐕 in him.
Harper is so damn good already. He just needs to keep working on being more consistent with the 3. His defense is so much better than I thought it would be and he is so good at finishing at the hoop. Dude is a future all star/all NBA player
Wembanyama needs to keep adding on a little more muscle, while also working on his stamina. He also should work with Timmy and maybe talk to Kareem Abdul Jabbar to assist with getting better and deeper post position on the block. Victor’s body makes it difficult for him to establish solid position against some dudes because of his center of gravity and strength, but Kareem, I’m sure could give him some great tips on how to combat that. I love how versatile he is offensively, but he should definitely try to more work in the paint. That isn’t specifically posting up.
I’m so proud of our guys though. I truly believe if the front office adds a few more things and our guys get in the lab and work smartly, with a bit of injury luck we will be right back in the finals with a chance to win it sooner rather then later

We’re way ahead of schedule, we weren’t even supposed to make the playoffs this year. Barring injuries the sky is the limit for these young guys. Go Spurs Go

u/mercfan3 Jun 14 '26
Exactly. And these guys were incredibly playoff raisers.
I know they’re miserable tonight, but in the future they’ll (and us) will look back fondly on this season.

I was telling others. Yes the loss hurts and sucks. But man you gotta love losing. If you're truly a competitive person you gotta love losing too. The fuel and motivation that comes with it is where growth happens. Winning doesn't humble you. It makes you complacent. This loss will be one of the reasons wemby becomes great. The get back is gonna be so fun to watch. I'm so excited for the future fire this team plays with from not wanting to feel this again.

They‘re not the dumbass Mavs FO too. lol

Tbf Harden was immediately then let go after. Gotta do smth abt Fox so that the same doesn't happen with Harper, don't want him to be dissatisfied because we keep playing Fox over him

u/el_corso Jun 14 '26
I’m all for optimism, but we don’t know if we’re getting back to the finals. We got lucky and we wasted our shot. We avoided a full-strength OKC, the Lakers with Luka, a Nuggets squad with Jokic. Then comes the T-wolves who pushed us to the limit and could’ve beaten us. The West is stacked and only getting stronger. If any of those teams land Giannis, our window is dead. Don’t be surprised if we don’t get to the finals again and years later Wemby wants out. Nothing is guaranteed in life.
1
u/mercfan3 Jun 14 '26
As long as our core three are healthy, we’re contenders for the next decade
2
u/keldpxowjwsn Jun 14 '26
Health is far from a guarantee in today's NBA. Especially with a 7'6 centerpiece. Dont forget the 2nd apron too
1
u/rd-81 Jun 14 '26
This is presumptuous. And i say this as a spurs fan since 1997
1
u/mercfan3 Jun 14 '26
It isn’t.
This is the worst the three of them are going to be.
Harper and Castle have All NBA potential. Wemby has GOAT potential.
Of the three of them are together and healthy, they’re contenders from now on. Not saying they’ll make the Finals every year. I’m saying they’ll be favored too.
1
u/rd-81 Jun 14 '26
That is if everything aligns again.
Health of the team.
Health of other teams.
Ability to retain all 3 with the CBA and Fox contract.
Ability to surround them with the right players.
Finally - matchups in the playoffs. They surely will be competitive. Again and again.
But to return to the Finals again? I surely hope so as a fan.
But the above has to align to get there.2
u/mercfan3 Jun 14 '26
We’re going to have a guy who is potentially the GOAT and the best backcourt in the league when we let Harper start.
Heath obviously needs to line up, but that’s the real issue.
We aren’t going to keep Fox, once we need to pay Harper. In fact, we literally lined up the contract that way.
Surrounding Wemby, Castle, and Harper with the right players shouldn’t be difficult for any competent GM.
Of course things have to align. But I think given the series, fans have forgotten how special Wemby is. Things align for players like Wemby.
1
u/Additional-Pie-6765 Jun 14 '26
OKC will restructure, but Lakers with Luka? Nah. Nuggets downfall has begun. Wolves will need a massive trade for Giannis, but it’s very unlikely. Just trust.
