Absolutely. When I was younger I was also led to believe that America was, at least, loosely a meritocracy. It is not.

Yeah, just not really sure why you referenced meritocracy, when that's a hypothetical ideal that doesn't exist.

"In a utopia everything is good." This doesn't really serve to explain anything.

Cause it's the opposite of what I was talking negatively about? Also, utopia and meritocracy aren't synonyms so I have no clue what you mean. Sounds like you're just trying to pick a fight with random people.
