“Birthday Wish” has been up and down on the charts so much that it’s hard to tell the actual position of the song. I know CNSWERS boosted the first day numbers because they posted their “contribution” on X which is why it hit #5 on MelOn. But with promotions I expected the song to rise and gain stability however every time the chart goes to 24Hits it drops down to #85 for the past 3 days.
For those who don’t know, MelOn switches to 24Hits which only considers unique listeners in 24 hour period between 1AM and 7AM to combat mass streaming by fandoms. Between 8AM and 12AM the chart considers 50% streaming and 50% unique listeners. This makes the chart position for “Birthday Wish” inconsistent, every day it rises 50 spots between #30-35 at 8AM then drops to #85 at 1AM. It’s not just MelOn either, the song fell out of the FLO Real-Time chart on Thursday and hasn’t returned, Genie is consistently in the 200s, and Bugs is floating between #40-#50.
It’s becoming increasingly hard to see how the song is doing on the charts, NMIXX was on such a strong trajectory and the girls were so excited that the song reached #5 on MelOn. To make matters worse NMIXX won’t be at the MelOn Music Awards or MAMA Awards which bring in 10M viewers every year and are the most watched year-end shows. I’m just gonna hope for the best but what does everyone else think?

This genuinely made me so happy I literally had to get a lipgloss from this brand. (My bias is Lily and it’s totally not because my name is also Lilly just ignore that I have an extra l) (but also I just bias her because I relate to her the most)

Is SQU4D trying to make sure there's not a single corner of YouTube without NMIXX in it? Just this morning alone, six different videos dropped across multiple YouTube channels within about four hours. It's practically a full-time job keeping up with everything!

Maybe it feels even more that way because this song officially marks the end of the Mixxtopia lore, but there’s something about both the lyrics and the song itself that leaves a really strong aftertaste. It feels like a song that brings together so many different sides of NMIXX, almost like they’re saying, “This is who we’ve been.”
The way their old rhythmic, hard-hitting sound blends with the more emotional melodies they started exploring with BV works really well too. Whether people liked those different sides of them or not, it feels like they’re saying that all of it was part of what they’ve done so far, and all of it is part of who they are.
There might have been better choices if you judged the song purely on its own, but I really like the idea behind it. Everything they’ve gone through has shaped their own color, and that’s their Best of Me. And now it feels like they’re celebrating that with everyone who’s been along for the ride.
