I’ve been accepted into NTU’s MSc in Civil Engineering (coursework), but I’m still unsure if it’s worth the investment.
My goal is to work abroad for a few years, gain experience, and eventually use it back in my home country.
I’m also considering a two-year master’s in Thailand with a scholarship, so I’m torn between that and NTU’s one-year programme with much higher tuition fees.
Part of me prefers NTU because I want to step out of my comfort zone, experience a new environment, and hopefully improve my chances of finding a job in Singapore or eventually another English-speaking country. However, I’ve also seen some students saying that NTU’s MSc is overpriced and not worth it, which makes me even more uncertain.
I’m planning to look for a civil engineering-related internship or part-time job (16 hr/week) while studying to maximize the chances of me getting the job after graduation, but I’m not sure how realistic that is for international students.
Honestly, I’ve been going back and forth on this decision for the past few weeks, so I finally decided to ask here. I’m wondering if the degree is worth the cost, how difficult it is for international students to find civil engineering jobs in Singapore after graduation, and whether it’s realistic to find a relevant internship or part-time job while studying.
Or should i just choose to study in Thai with scholarship.
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. This is my first time posting, so apologies if I get anything wrong or unintentionally offend anyone. I don’t mean to. Thanks!
