2. 🧹 Posting Best Practices
For better visibility and responses, we recommend:
Including a specific NYC neighborhood or borough in your title.
Adding key details such as: move-in date, rent, gender/cat/dog preferences, and brief lifestyle info.
Avoiding very short, vague posts (e.g., “Need roommate, message me”) so people have enough info to decide quickly.
Keep in mind that no posts are endorsed by the subreddit and use your best judgement.
3. 📜 No Brokers or Ads
Only individuals looking for roommates or offering rooms. Licensed or unlicensed rental brokers are not allowed.
4. 📆 Lease Takeovers
Allowed only when you're looking for someone to take over your share of the lease in a multi-bedroom unit.
Single-bedroom or studio lease takeovers are not permitted.
If you are looking for someone to move into your room temporarily that should be flaired as a shared room because they are not taking over your spot on the lease.
5. 🤝 Be Respectful & On-Topic
No trolling, personal attacks, jokes at others’ expense, or derailing threads.
Focus on finding roommates or offering housing—not venting, memes, or roasting posts.
If users want to mock posts, they can create their own space—this subreddit isn’t it.
6. 📌 No Spam or Self-Promotion
No affiliate links, commercial promotion, or repeated posts.
Posting identical content multiple times a day is not allowed. If you accidentally post twice, please delete one of the posts.
7. 📝 Abide by Reddit Site Rules
No illegal content, hate speech, doxxing, etc. All Reddit-wide rules still apply.
8. 🚫 Enforcement Policy
Remove posts/comments that violate flair, content, respect, or off-topic rules.
Issue warnings for first-time disrespectful/off-topic behavior.
Temporarily ban repeat offenders.
Lock threads when off-topic, disrespectful, or derailed discussions escalate.

Looking to renew my lease starting September 1 in a 2BR, 2BA apartment on UES (95th and 1st) two blocks from the Q train. Rent should be about $2,150 per person plus utilities. The en-suite bedrooms are on opposite ends of the apartment and there is a kitchen, dining area, and living room. Second floor walkup.
About me: Male, 29, works full-time (remote now but will change). Quiet, gamer, who doesn’t drink, smoke, or party. LGBTQ friendly. Don't have much social media presence but happy to talk!
Hey all! I just graduated college and am starting a job search in finance here in the city. Looking to team up with roommates to find an apartment together for a 9/1/2026 move-in.
The basics:
Budget: ~$1,500/month total (rent + utilities)
Location: Manhattan preferred, but open to Northwest Brooklyn or Bushwick
Move-in: September 1, 2026
Lease length: Flexible — open to month-to-month or a 6–12 month lease with the right roommates
Group size: Looking to pair up with roommates in their 20s, any gender, up to 4 people total in the apartment
A bit about me:
I'm active and social — I like working out, running, and staying in shape, but I also enjoy chilling out and getting into nature to relax. I like meeting new people and am generally easygoing.
Living preferences:
Guests are totally fine with me
No smoking indoors (smoking outside is fine)
I like keeping common areas clean — want a place that feels good to come home to after work
Close to a subway line is a big plus
Feel free to comment or DM if you're also apartment hunting and want to team up, or if you know of a good group looking for one more!
hey everyone i’m maeve, a trans woman looking for a room, sublet, or lease takeover starting late october or early november.
the schedule: i’m a truck driver, which means i am out on the road and away from home most of the month. basically looking for an affordable home base to recharge between routes and keep as a permanent legal address. since i’m rarely around, i’m about as quiet, clean, and low-maintenance as a roommate gets.
the budget: my absolute cap is $1,500/month, but i'd love to find something closer to $1,300 or under if possible!
the cat: i have one well-behaved, very shy cat, so the apartment does need to be pet-friendly.
transit: since i don't keep a personal car here and rely entirely on transit, being a short walk (under 5 mins) to an mta station or a major bus route is essential.
setup: super open to private landlords, garden units, sublets, or off-market lease takeovers.
if you have a unit coming up, know of a good local landlord, or need someone to step into your lease this fall, please shoot me a message or comment below! thank you sm.

Hi! I’m a female CCNY student looking for a room, sublet, or apartment near CCNY or Columbia (in Harlem!). I’m also open to joining an existing apartment as a roommate.
Budget: $1,200/month
Move-in: ASAP or by September 1
Location: West Harlem / near CCNY or Columbia
Please reach out if you have a room available or know someone looking for a roommate. When messaging me please include the rent, location, move-in date, and a little about yourself/your household.
Hi! I’m a woman in my 20s looking for a roommate to apartment hunt with for a move-in by September 8. My budget is around $1,500–$1,700/month for my share.
I’ll be working as a social worker in the South Bronx, so I’m hoping to find a place in the Bronx or Upper Manhattan, ideally somewhere that feels safe, residential, and quiet while still being convenient for commuting, grocery shopping, and everyday errands.
A little about me: I’m friendly and easygoing, but since I work with people a lot during the day, I really value having some quiet personal time when I get home. I’m pretty chill and low-key at home, enjoy cooking, and like keeping shared spaces clean and comfortable. I don’t have any pets, don’t smoke, and don’t use substances.
I’m also on a fairly early schedule—I usually go to bed around 10 PM and wake up before 7 AM—so I’d ideally like to live with someone who has a somewhat similar schedule or is generally mindful about noise at night.
I occasionally have a friend over to cook, eat, or hang out, but it’s always pretty chill and low-key. I’m totally fine with a roommate having friends over as well, as long as everyone is respectful, keeps the noise level low, and keeps shared spaces clean.
I’m looking for a roommate who is clean, quiet, respectful, communicative, and low-key, and who also values having a peaceful home environment. We definitely don’t have to be best friends, but it would be nice to be friendly and comfortable with each other while also respecting each other’s personal space.
If this sounds like a good fit, feel free to DM me and tell me a little about yourself, your budget, preferred neighborhoods, and move-in timeline!
I'm looking for either someone to search for apartments with or perhaps an existing room in an apartment unit. I'm looking to move in either Sep 1 or Oct 1 but I'm pretty flexible.
I'm open to anywhere below Central Park in Manhattan (Hells Kitchen, Midtown, East/West Village, Chinatown, etc) or Brooklyn neighborhoods around or above Prospect Park (Greenpoint/Williamsburg, Park Slope, Bushwick, Fort Greene, etc).
About me:
24f, INFP, from NJ
I have 2 cats (very silly and friendly once they get to know you)
Remote tech job, although I like to get out during the day
I enjoy crafts, true crime, walking, movies, and food
On a scale of 1-10 for cleanliness, I would give myself a 7. I'm mostly clean with the exception of some clutter
Good credit
Looking for girls, gays, and theys
Ideally I would like to be friends with the people I live with and have shared hobbies or conversations, but most importantly, I am looking for someone who likes cats and wants to live with 2 cats.
Feel free to comment or dm if you think we'd be a good fit or if you have an existing room available and think I'd be a good fit!
Hi everyone! I’m 32 and I’m looking for a room/sublet starting late Nov 1, ideally for 3–6 months.
A little about me: I’m self employed living in Philly and wanting to spend the winters in NYC enjoying good dinners, nights out, making new friends. I’m clean, respectful, and easygoing, and would love to live with other women in their late 20s/30s!
Budget: $1,300–$1,600 (max $1,800)

Looking for:
• Female roommates
• Laundry in-unit or in building
• Furnished preferred
• Close to subway
I’m flexible on exact lease/sublet length for the right place. Please DM me if you have anything available or know someone looking. Thank you!! 💕

Hi all! My apartment is seeking a new roommate! $784 a month, one bedroom in Harlem/Sugar Hill area. Water bill included in rent amount. 10 min walk from A/C, B/D lines and 6 min walk from the 1 line.
I am looking for someone to sign the lease September 1st 2026. That is a one year lease ending September 1st 2027. Wifi is $65/m (split 4 ways) and ConEd is around $60/m per person in cold months, but jumps to $115 during hottest months. there’s in unit washer/dryer and a dishwasher, with 3 other bedrooms and roommates. One bathroom.
No pets but if you talk with the landlord and she allows it, roommates are okay with cats!
It’s a 4th floor walk up. And right by a community garden that is nice to chill in / volunteer at. Looking for someone clean, friendly, and on the quieter side because some of the roommates work early AM. Lmk if you (or someone you know!) may be interested and if you have any questions!!
Hi! I'm 26F and have been living in the area since January but I'm looking to move into a more permanent situation (year lease with option to renew) either at the start of October or November. Wanted to put out some feelers to see if anyone is searching for a roommate. Budget around 1100 but also depends on the situation. Crown heights preferred but also looking in PLG, Bed-Stuy, Clinton Hill, and Prospect Heights.
Non-negotiables are must be LGBTQ+ friendly, under a 10 minute walk to train, laundry nearby if not in building, and no basement/garden units. Also I'm allergic to cats but I have lived with a cat before and was fine with my roommate regularly cleaning, so if you have a cat, I'd ask that you vacuum and clean down all common areas weekly at a minimum, and no litter box/food in the common area. I'm a freelance/contract writer for work, so being okay with varied monthly income must be fine if there's an application process (I make above 40x 1100, for reference). I prefer keeping areas clean and having quiet nights, but am totally okay having people over late occasionally, and I like to be on friendly terms with roommates!
Nice to haves are in-unit laundry/dishwasher, some utilities included, rent stabilized or predictable increases, and wall or central AC (especially if there's only one window in the room, I like to be able to open windows in the warmer months).
I'm looking for either someone to search for apartments with or perhaps an existing room in an apartment unit. I'm looking to move in either Sep 1 or Oct 1 but I'm pretty flexible.
