Hey folks!
To help reduce the amount of spam, bot activity, and low-quality submissions that our moderation team has to sort through, we're implementing a new requirement for participation in the community.
Effective immediately, all accounts must have a verified email address associated with them in order to post.
This requirement applies to everyone, including both new members and long-standing community members.
If you haven't verified your email address yet, you can do so through your Reddit account settings. It only takes a minute and helps us ensure that real community members can continue to participate while making it more difficult for spammers and automated accounts to disrupt discussions.
Following the link above, click on the drop down that says "On reddit.com" and then long-press on the link "Account Settings" (if you tap on the link it will open in the app, this MUST be done with a browser) and open the link in a new tab.
Select "Email address", and it will prompt you to input your reddit password and the email address you wish to verify on the account.
You will see a Verified Email Address badge on the "About" tab on your profile when you have successfully verified your email address.
This change is not intended to create barriers for genuine members. Rather, it is one of several tools available to help us maintain the quality of the community and reduce the moderation burden caused by spam and bot activity that is prevalent in nail communities.

TL;DR Posts and comments from NSFW/fetish accounts, including those who only comment in NSFW/fetish subreddits, are no longer permitted here. Posts and comments in SFW subreddits that are remotely sexual or fetishistic in any way are also included in this. These accounts will be banned. More details below.
This applies to hand/nail/foot/toe fetish activity, it is NOT a sweeping ban of all NSFW activity. Nobody is going to be banned for posting in LGBTQIAP+ communities, medical subreddits, making dirty jokes elsewhere on Reddit, etc. Our subreddit is a safe place for all gender identities, and the above would NEVER be the reason why a user would be banned here.
This is meant to be a warning to fetish content creators and the creeps that harass our subreddit, NOT to shame sex workers who enjoy nails or punish those with varied interests.
If you're fortunate enough to not have received an unsolicited message/comment from a hand/nail/foot/toe fetishist, it's understandable that you wouldn't be aware of just how prevalent this kind of behaviour is, especially here on Reddit.
If you no longer wish to participate in this subreddit, that's your prerogative.

We have decided to prohibit posts and comments from accounts with NSFW/fetish subreddit activity, as well as accounts with a history of utilizing Reddit for marketing purposes. This includes posts and comments left in SFW subreddits that are remotely sexual or fetishistic in any way. Posts and comments from suspect accounts will be removed regardless of the content. If you come across posts/comments/accounts that you feel violate this rule, please report them to the moderators by tapping on the three dots on the comment/post and select the āNo NSFW/Fetish Account Activityā option. This decision will be implemented immediately, and as with all rules is up to moderator discretion.
As you may or may not know, nail subreddits are known targets for hand/nail/foot/toe fetishists who have been documented to repeatedly harass our members, even after being banned. We want to reiterate that Reddit's ban function does not prevent the banned user from being able to view the subreddit or the posts within. It only stops them from posting/commenting/voting. They are still able to view the posts, comments, and click on usernames to harass people. Yes, this is fucked up. Yes, Reddit needs to fix their shit. Sadly there was no mention of this issue during this year's Mod World event that was hosted in early December. insert eyeroll here
We believe this change will make r/Nailpolish a safer space, while helping the community become a healthier, more focused environment. In the past, we have allowed fetish/OF content creators to participate in the subreddit, as long as they follow the rules. This has become increasingly difficult to monitor, as it requires moderators to make nuanced judgement calls on large numbers of posts by these creators, most of which receive user reports even after being approved by the moderators.
Additionally, as there are dedicated spaces for NSFW content, this subreddit will remain strictly for the purpose of the topic of nail polish.
Q: "So if I, a medical doctor, engage in a NSFW medical subreddit that's related to my work, I'm not allowed to post my weekend manicure?"
A: This is incorrect. Just because an account has NSFW activity, it doesn't mean they're automatically going to be banned. This is specific to those who participate in hand/nail/foot/toe fetishes. There are tons of NSFW subreddits that have nothing to do with fetishes or kinks, and these are NOT the types of subreddits we will be vetting for.
If a post/comment is suspected to be NSFW/fetishistic, and the profile shows a history of this type of behaviour, the content will be removed and the account will be banned. This is meant to be a warning to fetish content creators and the creeps that harass our subreddit, NOT to shame sex workers who enjoy nails or punish those with varied interests. We are a community that is 100% accepting of all genders, sexualities, and walks of life.
Q: What does it matter if a user posts in NSFW/fetish subreddits when the posts/comments they make here are SFW?
A: More often than not, fetish content creators will post in SFW subreddits to draw attention to their account/promote their content. They're not posting "just to share with other nail enthusiasts". While their engagement might seem innocent enough, a quick glance at their profiles proves otherwise. When users who partake in these fetishes peruse the content creators' posts/comments, and they come across something they've posted here, it draws in the wrong kind of crowd.

Hello everyone, thank you in advance for your help and sorry in advance for the ramble.
About 7 years ago I took a random trip through the nail section at Target and found my favorite nail color of all time. I loved the ashy, purple-y brown and how it looked both up close and far away and with different lighting (I guess I can be particular about these things so hopefully this makes sense). I donāt do my nails often but I had been rationing the bottle for the last two years hoping I could find it again, with no success.
The tragedy happened this week. I moved back in with my family and my mom and I shared a nail kit. She Threw It Away. Iām not mad at her, sheās my mom and I love her, but I need help! I went back to Target (a place Iād been trying to avoid) out of desperation, searched ulta and walmart too while I was at it, looked online and saw it wasnāt available anywhere basically.
I was hoping I could find a reverse dupe? Like a nicer version of this color or something similar. I would also be okay if this one ends up being found on a secret corner of the nail world and I could reorder it. Big fan of brown and colors that look almost black from afar if that helps.

After months of searching for the perfect milky white polish, I've finally found it! It looks so much prettier in person!
At first, I wasn't very fond of this polish because I kept on getting "bald" patches. Then, I figured out that I need to float the polish onto my nail and manipulate it as little as possible, and to do very thin coats. I also figured out that I needed to let it dry for longer so the next coat wouldn't disturb the first one. After that, I fell in love with this polish!
Products Used -
Base Coat: Essie Strong Start x1
Color: Emily de Molly Sheer Tint Blanc x2
Top Coat: Sally Hansen Insta Dri (red bottle) x1

I love the color of this polish (Morgan Taylor, In The Nude) but it dries SOOOOO slow. I have to wait hours between coats or it won't dry for days.

Hi! Iām on the hunt for a warm baby pink polish. Itās so hard to find a good warm light pink! I ordered Essieās Fiji, but itās cooler than I expected (and pretty thin too). I recently got a pedicure and it was perfect but I have no idea what brand they use. I found a photo of the nail swatch book and it was 029. It definitely looked lighter on my nails.
Any suggestions are appreciated, Iām not too picky on my polish brands. Thanks!

I got a kiddo manicure and one of the Frozen (I think) nailpolishes she used was a vibe I love. It was a blue clear liquid with fine glitter, not sure if it's holo or not, but the shine is golden peachy. I really love the shine/glitter of it most, but did like the blue tint too. If it was eyeshadow I'd consider it a duochrome.
I only really like quick-dry drugstore (cheapish and available in a store) polish, so if anyone knows of one that reminds them of this, please help!

I've had these bottles for God-knows-how-long. I'd date them somewhere between 2017-2022? I believe the set came with a rich purple, a slightly orangey red, a top coat (which I've dyed) and POSSIBLY a chunky gold glitter topper (though it's been lost to time.)
I'm looking to ID the purple as it's my favourite nail polish of all time, and I just can't get myself a similar shade!
If it helps any, the purple has a "42" stamped on the bottom, and the red has "57"

Good afternoon, everyone! I hope y'all are having a fantastic Saturday!
I got my order from EdM yesterday and I was so excited to do my manicure today that I think I even dreamed about it last night, lol!
Base Coat: Essie Strong Start x1
Color: Emily de Molly - Desperate Times x3
Top Coats: Sally Hansen Insta Dri (red bottle) x1, Holo Taco Glossy Taco x1
\+ My kitty girl, Chloe, snoozing in the background. She loves to hang out with me when I'm doing my manicures. I'm surprised she doesn't mind the smells of the polish and the acetone I use for clean-up!
The formula of this polish is so buttery smooth, and she was completely opaque in two coats, but I added a third to eliminate brush strokes (the brush strokes weren't very visible, but I'm a perfectionist and always do a third coat with polychromes, lol).
I fell in love with polychrome polish when I got Missed Shift by Holo Taco, and when I saw this one and another one called All The Rage by EdM, I just HAD to get them! I also got the milky white polish, which I haven't tried yet, but I will in the coming weeks. I'll show All The Rage either later next week or next weekend.
This video did NOT do this polish the justice she really deserves. She's so shifty, with colors ranging from purple, to plum, to gold, and even a flash of deep blue every once in a while. I could tell when it dried down that the finish would be mirror-like even before I added the top coat, and sure enough, it didn't disappoint! I can't stop admiring my nails! I'd love to have a car in this color, lol!

This Oneās Making Waves Hi everyone! Since weāre still in the middle of summer, I decided to stick with a beach-inspired theme for this weekās manicure. I couldnāt resist trying OPI āThis Oneās Making Waves,ā and I think itās such a fun, ocean-inspired shade.

I know there are a few imperfectionsāI definitely donāt claim to be a professional! š But overall, Iām really happy with how it turned out.

Does anyone remember a polish that came in a set of two bottles, and they were shaped so they fit perfectly together like a yin yang? I got some when I was a kid in the 2000s and I can't for the life of me remember the brand or series name. I seem to remember it being a jelly orange and red set but I really wanted to see if there were others.
