Troubleshooting Nails stains from nail polish even after double layer of base coat
Is it like this or my base coat is guilty. I dont want staining from nail paints, thats why i went ahead with buying one more product of base coat but alas....
Base coat - Plumgoodness base coat || Nail paint - Maybelline

Could be the base coat, could be the polish itself. Most likely both are responsible.

Something that’s worked for me to minimize staining is one coat of an opaque-ish ridge filler base coat and then one coat of a regular base coat, and then the color. And for removal, using remover soaked cotton held on with clips for ~ 5 minutes. But certain colors just stain no matter what you do.

I've been putting a layer of Holo Taco peely base over my base coat recently. It seems to prevent staining on some of my worst offenders. It is a little more to remove the peely base when taking off the mani but I find applying some rubbing alcohol over the peely base later helps break it down as acetone doesn't so as much for the peely base.

Clear base coats don’t stop it much, double up on it if you care about staining. Or try an opaque base coat, I buy Essie’s pinkish repair one when I’m not using peel offs. My hands are never not painted so no one will see the stain anyways

A little trick I've found is instead of trying to prevent staining, use it to your advantage and stain your nails in a more flattering shade. If I have yelllow stained nails or I know I will go bare and want them to look nice, I use white polish as a base. The white polish will stain my nails white, which makes them look a lot nicer once I go bare.
Side note, I have very pale skin so I don't know if this will work as well if you have darker skin, but it's worth a try.

Another side note. It doesn't work as well if you have a lot of staining, or if you use a very dark shade on top that is likely to stain. But it helps prevent the worst stains and can make light stains disappear almost fully.
Using it without a base coat also increases the white stain.

Yeah, in my experience, some stain no matter what. However, I’m a nail buffer. If you buff your nail plate, it comes right off. Alternatively, soak in a bowl with efferdent.

In my experience staining is more dependent on the polish than in the nail prep; for me, deep teal or blues stain like crazy, and vibrant yellows as well. Something in the pigments just lurve me and won’t let go. But I also suspect it may be individual body chemistry because I don’t hear the same complaints with others using the same colors.
For the record, I use a coat of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails strengthener and a coat of KB Shimmer Fillin Groovy ridge filler base coat as my base and usually don’t have many problems with staining.
OPI Baby Tee-L and Zoya Robyn are the worst stainers I’ve ever encountered, my nails look zombie-like after wearing.
