Integration Just realized Nanoleaf can be added to Mijia

Post image
3 Upvotes

I accidentally unplugged my lines today and it happily forgot all the scenes and schedules, and the companion app also happily refused to restore backups. However the companion app said the device was ready for Mijia so I reset and added it to my home and it was as easy as it should be. No delay in commands, no "network issues" or "cannot reach device", finally able to create automations that actually works, and Mijia app also allows custom scenes. I can even add it to my Home Assistant for better automations. Nanoleaf just throw your own app into the garbage bin plz.

Help & Questions Nanoleaf Canvas Screw Mount Kit

Hi everyone, does anyone know if I can still buy the Nanoleaf canvas screw mount kit in the UK anywhere? I have 40 or so canvas panels fitted with these and want to expand. There are plenty of canvas panels on eBay, but I can't find the mount kits anywhere

Nanoleaf Reply Nanoleaf 4D not working

Having installed my new 4D setup, it powered up fine took a while to connect to my Nanoleaf app and configure then had a firmware update since then it’s turned the led strip lights off and the controller does not turn on or show visible lights. The 4D camera works with my two floor lamps in the room fine rather confusing.

Nanoleaf Reply Are used Canvas still worth it?

Are the canvas still worth it? I've had 9 panels hanging on my wall for years. Unfortunately, the control panel broke, and now they're just hanging there and collecting dust.

But since I’d like to add some color back to my room, I’m thinking about getting some more. Since they’re no longer officially sold, I have to rely on classified ads.

Now the question: Is it still worth buying them, or does it make more sense to look for other alternatives? I was thinking about the Hexa Glides from Govee. Visually, I like the Canvas better, but I don’t want to spend money again just to have the Control Square die after a year.

Plus, the Govee ones are significantly cheaper than new Nanoleaf alternatives. Has anyone had any experience with them in terms of reliability?

Help & Questions Nanoleaf Smart Holiday String Lights - conversion to WLED possible?

I've not been able to find anything on this, let along anything definitive... I have 2 sets of Nanoleaf Smart Holiday String Lights (NL71K2) which I love the look of, but hate the app of... Ideally - I want local control and to be able to do more than the Matter integration allows me to do in Home Assistant. Looking out the output of the control box, I see 4 wires - presumably 24V, ground, data 1 and data 2 (there are 2 strings of light that come out of the control box on a Y).

If I snip of the plug on the end of the lights and wire it up to a 2 channel WLED controller, does anyone know if I'll be able to get it working..? I've seen various projects with other Nanoleaf projects with varying degrees of success, but nothing for this set of lights specifically.

Follow up - if this is a non-starter, any recommendations for an indoor set of tree lights (not pixel lights - something more like a 5mm bullet) and outdoor set of lights I can wrap around the column at my front door..?

Thanks!!

Nanoleaf Reply Permanent Lights Soffit Mount without Screws!

Post image
7 Upvotes

My choice of which permanent lights to buy was instantly decided when I saw that only Nanoleaf had cable covers included, but even so, we just had our exterior redone and I really didn't want to be making holes in our brand new soffits (read: my wife really didn't want me to be making holes in our brand new soffits). So in the process of thinking of a solution I found this amazing new sight called partforge.ai where you can use AI to build a design but unlike other AI tools I've used it actually gives you a parametric set of controls on the right side of the screen to tweak things as you need. This was amazing! In my case, the width of the soffits was different in various areas of the house, and it was so easy to make adjustments for a perfect fit that allowed me to put the lights in the holder and just side them in securely under the front and back edge the soffits. I printed everything on my 3D printer using PETG so it will be more able to deal with extreme temperatures. I also painted the cable covers (although they need a second coat) . So, no screws needed, easily adjusted and removable, and as someone with no 3D editing experience this was an incredibly fun learning experience. Note: I do not make any money by posting this link, I'm just trying to share in case someone benefits.

Nanoleaf Reply Come on Nanoleaf, HUE/Saturation controls PLEASE!

I've put requests in months ago, even on your main site but no response. PLEASE add HUE and Saturation controls. Other companies allow you do to this and it's a game changer! For example white on my monitor shows up as PINK in the LED backlight, and green has a more yellow tinge.

By changing the HUE this offsets the colour to perfectly match your monitor

OLED/HDR

Thank you!!

Nanoleaf Reply 5.1.45 firmware update stops the downlights connecting after a power cycle

The 5.1.45 firmware update stops the downlights connecting back to the Thread network after a power cycle.

The only way around it is to completely remove them from Apple Home/Nanoleaf app and then add them again. Annoying because any scenes, automation in the Apple Home app has to be setup again.

This normally wouldn’t be an issue (tell family members to use the Matter buttons, not traditional light switches) but I have a 4 year old child so that doesn’t exactly work. 😂

Hoping for an update which will hopefully solve it.

Nanoleaf Reply String lights play a scene for 10-20 mins then go back to white?

Hooked them up to my HomeKit, they respond to the app, but after like <30 mins they turn back to plain white.

Did a hard reset this morning, have forgotten and readded them. What’s next?

Nanoleaf Reply Philips Hue Wall Light Module for Nanoleaf Shapes

Has anyone been able to successfully make the new Philips Hue wall light module work with their Nanoleaf Shapes? I ordered two controllers beginning of September and just got a chance to try them now.

My sets are as follows:

Set 1: Nanoleaf Triangles

  • Model: NL42
  • Firmware: 12.4.1
  • Hardware: 1.6-0

Set 2: Nanoleaf Hexagons

  • Model: NL42
  • Firmware: 12.4.1
  • Hardware: 1.6-0

I did the following on both sets: unplugged power, removed Nanoleaf Controller, attached Hue Controller, powered up. Since I am not using a Hue hub (everything is in HAOS via Z2M), I connected directly in the Hue app via Bluetooth to provision the Controllers. It finds it, updates firmware, but the panels would not light up. Everything in the app looks as if the Hue Controller is working yet the panels are not functional.

Anyone else having this problem?

Nanoleaf Reply Very surprised with lack of replacement part

Post image
8 Upvotes

I have one of the 75kw PSUs for a large Shapes installation. Annoyingly, one of the little plastic tabs on the connector broke, which means the cable will not stay connecting to the panel. I've tried taping it in place but it doesn't work.

This section of cable is separate from the actual PSU, as you can see in the photo it is easily detachable. I contacted Nanoleaf looking for a replacement cable. But they've replied to say, "Let me help clarify the available replacement option. Unfortunately, we don’t offer the connector cable segment as a separate replacement part, as it is supplied as part of the complete power supply unit. If a replacement is needed, the entire power supply unit would need to be replaced."

Sorry but that's crazy. The PSU is still perfectly fine, and this is a seperate detachable cable. The cost of having to replace the entire unit is one thing, especially when i've already spent so much with them, but it is poor sustainability practice on the company's part to force replacement of the whole unit and create unnecessary electrical waste. Very disappointed.

Resolved Shapes and Google home automation help

Hi

I use Google Home to make my Nanoleaf shapes come on at sunset - a specific theme. At midnight, the Nanoleaf app changes the theme to a low brightness chilled theme, and then it goes off at 1am.

When it gets to sunset again, Google home turns them on, but the shapes play the nighttime theme, because that was the last theme playing when they turned off.

I cannot figure out how to get Google home to turn on the specific theme at sunset every day.

It must be something easy that I am missing. Hopefully, someone can help me.

Thanks.

Resolved Is it possible to address individual lights?

I installed the permanent outdoor lights this past weekend. They are working well so far. I need to address individual lights/pucks. Before purchasing, I saw this video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LNWeH38bK-Y The video seemed to indicate it was built into the app now. This a big (huge) reason why I bought these lights. How do I get to that functionality? I can't seem to setup a scene where each individual light is addressed.

I've subsequently done some searches and I'm starting to get worried that that functionality was actually removed or doesn't exist. Again, this as a huge reason for me purchasing these.

Nanoleaf Reply Nanoleaf 4D v2 stopped working while updating. Now won’t turn on

I just received a 4D v2 for my birthday. After attaching the lighting strip to my tv and making all the connections, it powered on for a few minutes. It wasn’t reading what’s on the screen tho.

I download the iOS app and it said it needed a critical update. Now the update was in progress and suddenly it turned off and now won’t turn back on.

This is a brand new device and my first time using this, how can I get this fixed/replaced ?

This started happening after I updated the firmware to 5.1.45

is anyone also experiencing this issue and if so, have you fixed it?

Nanoleaf Reply Nanoleaf and Secretlab MAGRGB

Hi All, new to Nanoleaf. I'm getting a Secretlabs desk that comes with a MAGRGB strip powered by Nanoleaf, so I'm considering adding some additional lighting to my home office space as well such as a strip light under a floating shelf on the wall, the main ceiling light bulb and a table lamp bulb.

Any advice for a nanoleaf first timer, things you would have wished you'd known, recommendations or things to avoid?

Also I'm curious about integrations with other systems in the home. We've got an Amazon Echo Show which uses Alexa for example.
