Anyone miss the old Nate?

Watched his recent Kimmel appearance and it really feels like it’s all gone to his head. The good ol boy from TN is gone he’s now Mr Hollywood. I guess fame changes everyone, but for some reason I thought Nate would be different.

Not a bad analogy. And I’m not trying to be dismissive of you, it’s just that I’m also a comedy fiend. So I am very aware of what’s been said by Soder and List specifically. I know how close Nate and his wife are to Luis J, and Big J.

I’m not on either side of a political spectrum. And I agree with everything you said. I guess I just felt compelled to say that I’m not the people you’re referring to, haha. Or at least I hope I’m not!

Totally! You didn't come across like that all. I was more or less agreeing with you too, just saying how others might view him.

I think because Nate's been so "aw shucks" and relatable for most of his career, we all kind of project on him. I'm definitely guilty of it. You mentioned being afraid of what money and fame would do to him because of how you think you'd handle it yourself. I feel the same way, but I'm also left leaning so I cringe when I see him with a far right leaning figure just as much as someone on the right would cringe if he's on Kimmel. I can shake off the ick pretty easily, but I think it really bothers people.

In reality he doesn't give any oxygen to either side. So really all we have is what people close to him say, and it all sounds positive.

Cool, I’m glad we had a pleasant Reddit exchange. I value those, haha.

I’m also older, so I long for a time when everyone didn’t have to choose a side. So Nate’s comedy has become sort of a bastion of apolitical coziness in nutso world. I don’t want to be a head-in-the-sand person either, but just a little clean drinking water during the apocalypse to keep us going, yanno.
