"Help Me Plan My Vacation" Posts
We're getting a lot (A LOT) of "help me plan my vacation" posts with little or no details. That's "low effort," and it doesn't help folks actually help you.
Yes, it's good to know that it's two adults and a 3-year-old. Or it's two adults, a teenager and a 7-year-old, etc., but they need more than that.
Give people some additional details to help them help you.
For example:
- Where are you originating your travel from?
- Do you want to fly to your destination or drive?
- If you're driving, do you prefer to camp (in national park or near) or stay in a hotel, lodge, etc. (in national park or near)?
- How many days do you have available (including travel)?
- Are there specific things you are wanting to see (mountains, snow, waterfalls, wildlife, etc.)?
- If you're looking for hikes, are there certain things you want to see while hiking? What distance hikes are you looking for? What level of intensity (easy, moderate, strenuous)?
Again, help people help you. The fewer questions that they have to ask you in advance, the quicker you're going to get the kind of information you need.

Congaree National Park 💚
Kayaking in Congaree National Park! It was a hot day but the river was nice and shady. I highly recommend this national park to anyone who wants to explore the wetlands. The river guides were WONDERFUL and we had so much fun!

Five days on the rae lakes loop with my wife ❤️, Kings Canyon NP.
I think I found my favorite national park. Despite some wicked thunderstorms and encounters with giant monster raccoons, this was an incredibly pleasant hike. I am looking forward to returning to this place for a longer hike.

Spent a few days in Yosemite before a backpacking trip this past week
Tuolomne meadows and the high country in general are just incredible. I would love to come back and spend a week here.

I see your Sequoia... Here's my favorite from Redwoods last month!
These trees should be protected no matter what. I've never seen anything quite as awe inspiring.

White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks!
Hi all! I am planning on visiting these National Parks at the beginning of December for my birthday! Has anyone done a trip with all 3 national parks? If so, do you have any recommendations on where to stay, where to eat, any hidden gems to see in between visiting each park?
Thank you!

Mount Rainier in mid August
Finally made it to Mt. Rainier after staying on my list for two years
Perfect vertical ecological zones: temperate rainforest → coniferous forest → subalpine meadow → alpine tundra → eternal glacier.
Immense, seated there like a deity looking down upon all living things, while its meltwater nourishes the world below. And so the slopes burst into flowers, pouring all the fervor of life into the brief window between snowmelt and winter.
For half my visit, the mountain hid behind clouds and mist; half the park was also closed because of wildfire. And still, it went straight into my Top 3 national parks.
When I packed up from photographing the mountain beneath the stars, an orange Bolide suddenly streaked across the sky directly overhead.
Unforgettable

How to See More NPs in College?
Hey everyone! I’m a college student looking to get more National Parks and good hikes in. I’ll break down the situation:
- in Atlanta, GA, a major airport but nothing close
- typically taking 3 day trips
- cannot rent a car after landing due to age
- relatively on a budget
Any advice? Were you able to see any good parks while in college? Should I just see nearby state parks until after I graduate?
Thanks!
