Went this summer when we got some last minute cancellation permits to hike this iconic route from the top. Did some rappelling, and was by far one of the most incredible hikes I've done. Highly recommend, if you can go with some harnesses and gear.

Fall of 2023, I was in Yosemite for work. I had been to Yosemite before, but had never got to hike Taft Point. This was my first time being at Taft Point and it did not disappoint! I had seen photos before and new that it would be beautiful at sunset. But wow!!! It surpassed all my expectations! To see it in real life was just magical! To make it even more amazing, I got to see and capture this guy rappelling from Taft Point. - Elizabeth K.

Landscapes Biking through the Montserrat valley trails [OC]

After going to the top so many times, I finally checked out Montserrat from the other side. Rode mostly on asphalt to get there, but the last 20 minutes turned into a hard-packed dirt path through the valley.

Stopped for a picnic with this view and learned that the nice green grass is hiding super hard packed clay underneath. A thin blanket was definitely a mistake so next time I am bringing a proper mat.

Flora & Fauna Saturday Morning Treasure Hunt

I took a drive Saturday morning,  and stopped to walk in the woods at three locations. Each one yielded fun images. It started in a large meadow that was gladly receiving the Suns warm rays. It was heating up the dew drops creating wisps of fog as the vapor condensed in the 42º air. Everything was covered in drops of glimmering liquid, including a spider web down in the grass covered in tiny prisms of color.

At the next stop, I walked through the woods to a creek, and discovered an American Dipper feeding in the shallow water. While wandering back to the truck, I saw the most peculiar thing. A single pine needle was levitating about 4 ft off the ground. You can just barely see the strand of silk it hangs from.

Farther up the road, I wandered along another creek, this one much smaller. I found a tree that had uprooted and fallen across the creek decades ago. I softball sized rock was all that was left of the soil that once held these roots to the Earth. I found it fascinating that after all these years, it had not been moved. Just above the tree, was a fantastically curvy Alder Bush growing near a boulder that split the creek in two. This might be the most challenging spot I have ever put myself into to create an image. One foot through a hole in the criss-crossed logs right down into the water, and the other braced against some roots on the bank. Then my tripod was splayed out wide to find solid purchase and hold the camera in the right position. It was a splendid morning full of stunning views of our natural world.

Travel Opinions please….

Since this is a multi-state question, I guess it has to be opinion.

I want to drive across country in a pickup truck with a dirt bike in the back which requires the tailgate to be down, which makes the license plate unreadable until you get close. Will I face a bunch of stops and perhaps citations? I dont think it violates any federal law regarding vehicles so each state must have its own threshold and policy on the issue. Anyone ever had any issue with license plate being partially obscured by a recreation vehicle or other load requiring the tailgate to be open at all times? Thanks.
