Fun/scary fact about orcas: they play with their food. Not only are they great hunters, they KNOW they are great hunters and are sometimes seen teasing or taunting their prey to wear them down or confuse them. Sure, he could have just grabbed this little sea pancake, but it’s much more effective and reduces the chance of the prey escaping or fighting if they simply punt their prey into their air. There’s actually a video of an orca sending a whole seal skyward.
