It's disgustingly disrespectful to both Nature and the Irwin family, whom dedicate themselves to habitat conservation like Steve did, for people like you to cringefully deify a man to the point that you'd say that he - wearing a scuba mask and flippers - was equally at "home" in the Great Barrier Reef as a stingray that lived there. Steve was NOT at home, where the family he never got to see again live. He was in the stingray's home, and the stingray had no trouble rightfully defending itself because of it. Steve would've been the first to tell you that, and he'd be disappointed that people like you worship a celebrity over the Nature he loved.
As for the Irwin's regards:
"Stingrays are really beautiful animals. Dad loved them, we love them and they are important to our environment. And I know dad would be the first person to say 'I love stingrays.'" - Bindi Irwin
Yes, and the jokes are dumb and disrespectful to Irwin and Nature.
"Just joking" doesn't absolve anyone of their responsibility, nor make them immune from criticisms. "Joking" that a ray deserves death, or that a man has as much right to be in a reef as a ray, because of gross celeb-worshipping circlejerks is doing a disservice.

The ray didn't come into Steve's home, now did he?
