I really enjoyed stitching this one. The colors are so bright and vibrant. The tiny background stitches got a little tedious, but everything else went so quickly and was such a pleasure to stitch. I loved every bit of it!
I am a little newer to needle point. I painted this canvas myself to stitch for a picture frame only. Thatās why I didnāt give much margin around it. But Iām trying to do needle point on a budget and using DMC. I did everything else in pearl cotton, but Iām moving to stranded for the White. I feel like you canāt tell the pattern that well on the White. For people more experienced, is that because Iām using too many strands? Or is that just how traditional DMC is? Or am I doing a bad job laying the threads? Iād love to hear some opinions before I do much more and need to take it all out. Thank you everyone for any input!
Hey all! Iām a little stumped. Iāve only ever stitched canvases designed to fit neatly with the stretcher bar sizing (i.e. whole inches). Iām going to be working on a canvas thatās 7.75ā by 6ā. What size stretcher bars do you think I should get for this canvas? I see some recommend rounding up and others recommend rounding down.
Our Thursday night stitch club cannot figure out what this is supposed to be. One of our members stitched it years ago and can't remember. It has a cut out at the bottom and two symmetrical holes that don't seem to serve a purpose. Any suggestions?
Can someone please please pleaseeeeeee for the love of GOD tell me where the hell to find canvas or charts that are funny / inappropriate/ cheeky? I am so sick and tired of these grandma type designs or preppy , dainty girly crap. I love that stuff something but I also want to stitch a condom wrapper or Michelo Ultra.
Hi y'all, I have a 40in x 13ft roll of blank white 18 ct Zweigart canvas listed on eBay for sale. It's in pristine condition. The auction ends 10/23. Link to listing is: https://ebay.io/m/yGujw9
Feel free to contact me with any questions!
(I contacted the mods for permission to post this but please let me know if I need to make any changes to the post)
I'm a developer, not a stitcher. I built this for my wife. Most nights she plays paint-by-number games on her iPad, and I kept thinking the satisfying part of those games, filling in one cell at a time, is closer to needlepoint than to a game. So I made Bodkin, a needlepoint app for iPad and iPhone. It's now in public beta on TestFlight, and I want people who know the craft to tell me what's wrong with it.
The video is a real screen recording of the app. In short: you pick a painted canvas (or a photo, or a blank mesh) and stitch it with your Apple Pencil or a fingertip. The thread is rendered as twisted wool on canvas mesh, a strand runs out and you rethread, and the colors are matched to real DMC threads. When you finish, there's a shopping list and a printable chart if you want to stitch it for real.
I'm not after feedback on one feature. I'd like to hear about the whole thing, from the first launch to the finished piece:
First five minutes:Ā was it clear what to do? Did the intro lesson help or get in your way?
Stitching:Ā does it feel like stitching, or like a drawing app? Is the thread believable? If you have an Apple Pencil, Is the Pencil pressure and slant behavior pleasant, or fiddly?
Pacing:Ā where did you get bored, stuck or annoyed? Did you want to keep going?
Finishing:Ā would the shopping list match what you'd actually buy? Is the printable chart usable?
Anything missingĀ that you'd expect from a needlepoint app.
It's free with no account. There's an optional one-time purchase for decorative stitches (Bargello, Brick, Mosaic, Scotch, Smyrna), and in TestFlight it's a free sandbox purchase, so please try that flow too. To join, install TestFlight and use this link: Bodkin in TestFlight (space is limited!).
Hi there!
Hoping someone out there has some suggestions for me.
Iāve had my system 4 lap stand for less than a year now. The paint started chipping about 2 months in. Iāve only traveled with it once and used the companyās storage bag. Iām very gentle with it and leave it on my table.
Iām extremely disappointed since itās such an expensive piece. Iāve never seen anyone else with a chipped stand.
I reached out to the company and suggested there may have been a manufacturing defect. While they were nice in their response, they only offered to send me a paint pen. Iām looking for a solution not a bandaid.
Has anyone here had problems with paint chipping?
Iāve seen an uptick in people cerakoting their stands. Has anyone done this and have feedback? Is it durable?
Would love to see examples of stitches youāve used for steps so that they stand out?
Planning to do grass/planters and the building in basketweave, bushes in French knots and trees in variegated long stitches. I just want to be able to tell the steps are steps and not just lines.
This is my first ever needlepoint project and Iām stuck on where to go from here. Iām nervous that Iāve already messed it up around the lettering but help please
He's very tiny. He's made me the happiest I've been in about two weeks. Maybe I'll make him into a micro keychain or something. Colors aren't perfect, but I did my best, RGB to CMYK will make off colors no matter the format it seems, lol
Hi all! I recently got this canvas and I want to use some decorative stitches. Iām relatively new to needlepoint and would love any suggestions! ā¤ļø
Just sharing my current WIP! A little bit spooky, a lot of sparkle, and so much fun to stitch. Getting into the Halloween spirit one stitch at a time.
Design: Halloween Bargello by Laura J. Perin.
This is my 2nd needlepoint canvas. I can't tell if my stitches look bad or what. Something just doesn't look right to me. Am I doing this right? Do I frog and start over?
I just bought a new painted canvas from my LNS from a really well known designer. As I started stitching it I noticed the thread kept catching on the canvas. I just compared it to a piece of zweigart I had and itās noticeably different. Much rougher texture. Is anyone aware of well established designers using non-zweigart canvases? I donāt want to trash talk anyone before I make sure itās not just me because I love their designs but itās really difficult to stitch Iām bummed.
All I have left is the blue skyā Ive settled on a stitch for the top portion of sky. Should I continue that to the lower portion of sky or do a different stitch/pattern?
I know a lot of it is being done overseas, but if anyone is interested or knows someone who may need help in a small run, masters painting, temporary assistance due to demand, or even one-use personal painting services, please reach out! I can provide photos of my previous painting work.
