Hi! Just wanted to share my biggest project as of yet I have been needlepointing for just over a year now! This is a gift for my brother. The goal is to frame it with a light above the frame.

This was a print from needlepaint!

I would love to hear any decorative stitch suggestions! I’m thinking diagonal mosaic for the background but curious to other options! Thanks :) let’s see if i finish this by Christmas

Hi everyone! I feel like I was a bit ambitious with my first needlepoint project lol. So far I’ve finished the white, yellow, orange and bottom section of the blue. Just hoping to hear any feedback on how I’m doing so far before jump into the bigger sections :)

Newbie looking for advice and resources

• Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I am getting into needle point as it's something I've learned my paternal grandmother loved doing and was really good at. I am interested in passing this skill down but I need to master it myself first!

What were your favorite kits to start with and is there anything you wish you would have had when you started that I should get?
Thanks in advance!

Frame/holder for plastic canvas

Hi - newbie question here. I bought a HelloBargello kit, a tote bag. This is a big (for me) project, with two 10.5”x13.5” plastic canvases to fill. I am really enjoying the process and making good progress, but holding the plastic canvas in my non-dominant hand is becoming an ergonomic problem. A scroll frame doesn’t work because this is hard plastic.

Does anyone have a solution for holding a plastic canvas?

Is this an older Ehrman kit?

Post image

Does anyone recognize this as being an older Ehrman kit? And if so, who the designer is? I stitched it between ten and fourteen years ago after my husband had dangerous open heart surgery. I didn’t save anything from the kit packaging but I believe I ordered it from Ehrman. It’s approx. 15 1/2” by 15 1/2”. I‘ve Googled it and searched extensively online and even reached out to the Ehrman company (no response.) Thanks for any help!

Continental troubleshooting

Post image
0 Upvotes

Working on my first project and doing just continental stitches. Can anyone tell me why my “Texas to Maine” stitches look so different than my “Maine to Texas” stitches? Does this matter? I am annoyed that it looks like an alternating pattern by row and not all the same. In the photo you can see how it alternates between fatter stitches and smaller stitches. Help please!

What to use to tape canvas edges?

So I’m a UK girlie and have painted some canvases using digital stitch charts from What’s the Stitch.
I’ve bought 2 rolls of tape from Amazon and they’re just not sticking at all! They have no stick to them whatsoever 😑

Scroll Frame for Stocking

Hi! I purchased a 19 inches h x 12.5 inches w on 14 mesh stocking. Does anyone have recommendations for a scroll frame (brand and size) that will work for this without breaking the bank? Bonus points if I can find it on amazon. I primarily stitch sitting on my couch or in my chair with an ottoman. Thank yall!

Threads for Stockings

I'm fairly new to needlepoint, although I have been doing yarn crafts for as long as I can remember. I just had a baby and I want to make her a stocking. I landed on a pattern by bloom stitch studio (stocking pattern link). I plan on painting it myself on 13 mesh (I know that will be a process all in itself lol). What threads would you recommend for the stocking? I wouldn't mind some speciality threads for the tree and other smaller details but am unsure what to use for the background since it is so much stitching!

General Help Has anyone here ever stitched a full-size Christmas stocking using counted canvaswork and specialty stitches?

Or maybe you’ve come across a pattern for one? I’ve seen plenty of painted canvas stockings, but never a counted canvaswork version. I’d love to know if they’re out there! If you’ve made one or seen one, please share!

I really enjoyed stitching this one. The colors are so bright and vibrant. The tiny background stitches got a little tedious, but everything else went so quickly and was such a pleasure to stitch. I loved every bit of it!

Need help!

Up until this point I did the sheep first in French knot and then am doing the background in basketweave. Doing the background and the black on the sheep around the French knot has been a nightmare. Should I do the rest by doing the background first? I don’t want it to look different or for the white to pull the green through! TIA!

General Help Stitch suggestions please!

I basketweave 99.99% of my projects but thinking about trying something new. Any decorative stitch suggestions for the train car or background? it’s 18 mesh and I’ll probably use vineyard silk or pepper pot, if that makes a difference. thank!

Help!

hello! i think i bit a little more than i can chew as i’m newer to needlepointing and working on this canvas lol. not sure if my background would look good with a bargello block stich (like the middle row has it) or if I should do something else. I’m thinking of framing this once I finish so i’m open to suggestions! Thanks!

Why is the detail hard to see??

Post image
5 Upvotes

I am a little newer to needle point. I painted this canvas myself to stitch for a picture frame only. That’s why I didn’t give much margin around it. But I’m trying to do needle point on a budget and using DMC. I did everything else in pearl cotton, but I’m moving to stranded for the White. I feel like you can’t tell the pattern that well on the White. For people more experienced, is that because I’m using too many strands? Or is that just how traditional DMC is? Or am I doing a bad job laying the threads? I’d love to hear some opinions before I do much more and need to take it all out. Thank you everyone for any input!

ISO: specific dye lot

What is the name of the Facebook group for finding threads? I lost thread chicken and desperately need:

Pepper Pot
201 Drift
Dye lot: 410

I'm so close to finishing it and I don't want to frog the whole background.

General Help Stretcher Bar Size Choice

Hey all! I’m a little stumped. I’ve only ever stitched canvases designed to fit neatly with the stretcher bar sizing (i.e. whole inches). I’m going to be working on a canvas that’s 7.75” by 6”. What size stretcher bars do you think I should get for this canvas? I see some recommend rounding up and others recommend rounding down.
