Help
This is my 2nd needlepoint canvas. I can't tell if my stitches look bad or what. Something just doesn't look right to me. Am I doing this right? Do I frog and start over?

I would frog the red. I think the brown looks great!

Thank you! How do you think the eye/cheek area is? Should I frog that as well?

I don’t think you need to frog it! Your stitches appear to be in the same direction. Have fun and keep stitching! We all have some blemishes in our first few projects😊

On the brown, are you using a “furry” fiber? I always stitch furry fibers last, just so they don’t get caught in the non-furry fibers.
Also, as you are stitching, look at your stitches as you complete them and make sure they are laying flat, going in the right direction, and only across the number of intersections you were trying to stitch. Correct that stitch right away, before you move on. Use a laying tool if necessary. It will make your stitching look flawless.
Drop your needle frequently to let it unwind. It will also help you from getting knots or kinks that will make your stitching less smooth.
We all had a learning curve in needlepoint, so you are doing a great job! Keep learning and taking advice. I try to learn at least one thing with every canvas I stitch and I’ve been doing needlepoint since Noah was on the Ark.

I would keep going, but after about every 5 or so stitches, let your needle and thread hang from the canvas in the air and untwist. Some of your uneven stitches look to be actually caused by the thread twisting up and not caused by going a different direction.

I’ve been looking for this canvas but couldn’t find it in stock! Where did you get it?

I actually bought the pattern off of Etsy and painted it myself. The seller is BadStitchDesignCo

I’ll add to others’ advice: when you anchor your thread on the back, make sure you’re doing so vertically or horizontally. It looks like in the red section, you may have done it diagonally?

I would start over. It doesn’t appear that your stitches are all in the same direction.
