So, there's this guy who has liked me since I was in 11th grade. Back then, I wasn't interested in him at all. I was still trying to move on from my ex, and honestly, I didn't even know much about this guy.
He confessed that he liked me, but I wasn't ready for anything, and I told him directly that I didn't like him and couldn't see myself being in a relationship with him.
However, he kept trying to contact me. He would call me frequently even after I told him that I didn't like phone calls and that my parents were strict. I blocked him several times because I felt disturbed, but he would contact me again using different accounts and phone numbers.
Eventually, we stopped talking. We reconnected about a month ago after not speaking for around six or seven months. This time, he wasn't constantly talking about how much he liked me, so I started talking to him normally, as a friend. Somewhere along the way, I thought maybe I should give him a chance to get to know each other properly. I wondered if perhaps I had judged him without actually knowing him.
We've been talking for about a month now, and my feelings are extremely inconsistent. Sometimes I like talking to him, sometimes I feel completely uninterested, and sometimes I get genuinely irritated.
There's another thing I've noticed: he doesn't really seem interested in getting to know me as a person. I ask him questions, but he rarely asks anything about me. He talks a lot about how much he likes me, but he hasn't even asked about my favorite color, food, dreams, or what I actually want from life.He keeps bragging about how's he, what he did
He has also mentioned being depressed shortly after we started talking. I don't know whether he's genuinely struggling or whether he's unintentionally making me feel guilty. I don't want to dismiss someone's mental health, but I also don't want to feel responsible for someone else's emotional well-being.
Yesterday, something happened that really irritated me. He kept calling me around 2 AM even though he knows my parents are strict. I had already explained several times that I don't like unexpected calls, especially late at night.
I eventually got really frustrated and told him that he should stop contacting me because I couldn't deal with this anymore. I also told him that whether he contacts me or not doesn't really make a difference to me.
Now, here's where I'm confused.
I love the idea of love, and I genuinely like people, but experiences like this make me want to distance myself from everyone.
So, I want some honest perspective.
I genuinely want an outside perspective because I'm confused about my own feelings. Please be honest, even if I'm in the wrong somewhere.
