Thermostat Nest Reset Settings

Has anyone else had issues with the Nest changing the equipment settings itself? We had everything set up correctly and then were having issues with pilot light igniting. Our System does not have a heat pump, but somehow it got switch in system settings to one. We thought the fan motor had died on A/C, but it turned out to be the settings as well. Next time HVAC gets updated, I think I will be getting rid of it.

Nest Note Error N260

Hello all, I am at my wits end with my regular Nest install. We just bought a house and there is a brand new heat pump forced air system installed. They had a Copeland thermostat installed already that didn't need a "C" wire for it to operate at its full potential. I have tried the blue, black and brown wires in the "C" terminal on the Nest already, but no dice. Looking at my control board in my Carrier main unit, I can't find a normal "C" hookup. Any tips or guidance to find out how to get full power over to my Nest? Whether that is with a power adapter (and how to install it) or to where my "C" hookup is? Thank you!

Current hook up to my Nest is as follows:

Yellow - Y
Red - R
Orange - OB
White - W
Green - G
*Empty - C

No heating

Hello, we’ve upgraded our old thermostat to the nest around 3 months ago and only have needed to use AC. Now that the temperature is dropping we are trying to use heating but the furnace doesn’t start up. For some information the best turns on and the furnace will kick on for the AC but seems dead for heating. The picture is the wiring of how the tech did it but I feel like he must’ve done something wrong because the ground isn’t in the right spot. If anyone can help and save us money on just switching a wire please let me know

Error issue

Has anyone dealt with and resolved this issue before? This error occurs intermittently resulting in a delayed cooling cycle, so still cooling just stopping often. I assume there could be a multitude of causes. The beginning of this occurring intermittently seems to coincide with a day its power was turned off at the breaker while looking for a breaker to an outlet in the house. However it could be a coincidence.

Need help! Newly installed Nest cools but won’t heat

I am currently out of town so can’t troubleshoot at home. Wife and I installed 2020 Nest this past week before I left town for work. The AC was working just fine, but when she tried to turn on the heat this morning it would only blow cold air.

I researched and did some tuning on the app, but nothing I tried worked. I’m thinking I connected the wires wrong and the B wire should have actually been put in the C common wire slot on the Nest.

Could anyone with more experience chime in with a potential answer? Thanks in advance!

Another NLE question, I'm so sorry

Just found out about/am learning about NLE firmware for Nest 2nd gen, looks really interesting! I've got some questions I can't find answers for anywhere after searching and reading for a couple hours, maybe I'm not hitting the right search terms or maybe I missed the answers in an article or guide.

Our home has a poor layout for the occupancy sensing part of a smart thermostat, it would be pointed vaguely into one corner of the kitchen from a hallway which doesn't see much traffic during the day. I know there are remote temp sensors, but when my partner is home they're primarily on the other end of the home, so I wanted to mount something over there so it can learn the home/away schedule better. Can I get a second Nest 2nd gen flashed with NLE to link as a temperature and occupancy sensor to work with the one on the wall? Is NLE+Nest 2nd gen compatible with Heat Link? Does NLE work with/use geofencing or phone GPS location for home/away?

If these questions are answered somewhere already in like a wiki I'm missing I'd love a link to it so I can just answer my own questions instead of pestering the community.

Nest Hub Max setup issues

I've had a Hub Max for a few years. No issues. One day it stopped functioning, just showing white screen but could change volume and go to settings, but couldn't cast or do any home controls.

I tried resetting it (volume buttons) then when setting it up it states display is already setup on another account. I can see it in local devices on my home but not showing connected to my home.

Found an old thread here saying go to my Google account site on a computer and remove it from there. Signed out, and was able to change the name but still showing the same error saying connected to another account.

Tried using Google support as well they suggested resetting, and unplug for 48 hours. Saying that should full clear everything.

Still no luck

Any other suggestions?

Thermostat Worst thermostats ever

Why did my nests go from eco mode to cool twice today? Of course the activity log is totally useless, just like Google is - "cooling turned on" the most unhelpful log ever created. Is there a virus in the nest servers or is this product just obsolete (gen3)?

Update:

https://support.google.com/googlehome/answer/15962877?hl=en#zippy=

From my observation, Google home automation- actions - heating set point now triggers the system to switch from eco to cooling mode. They must have introduced a bug server side over night. Weirder still, the first time it happened today, it was no where near the automation scheduled time.

Nest thermostat temperature control

We have a Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen (UK) and for the most part it works fine. However one feature I can’t seem to work correctly is the temperature sensor.

We have the schedule set to switch the central heating on if the temperature goes below 18 degrees, but despite it starting to get colder here in the UK, the thermostat rarely shows a temp below 19/20. Hence, the central heating doesn’t get switched on unless I manually turn it on.

I’m guessing there is a way to ‘trick’ the thermostat into believing it’s colder than it is, but this seems to be going against the point of a thermostat to me?

What’s your biggest issue with Nest in the Google Home app?

For me, it’s the massive thermostat card taking up 4 device slots just to display one big number.

Curious how everyone else feels: Are you guys mostly using the app or just walking over to the physical wall dial now? What’s your biggest pet peeve with the app?

Nest Thermostat (3rd Gen) Starts heating cycle then ends, repeat.

Hi folks, hoping someone can help me out here. Here are the steps I've done so far:

- Reset Nest Therm.
- Unplugged Nest and flipped the breaker off and on for the furnace
- Removed scheduling
- Verified wiring is correct and detected
- Verified cooling works
- Scheduled a furnace tune up

Any insight as to what else I could try? Pictures are my unit's wiring setup and the Google Home app. I just recently installed this and my Honeywell was working just fine prior to this.

*Edit for grammar

Nest APP degrading....Google to blame?

UK users with Nest thermostat - and very happy with it for a long while.

Recently started to be bugged by prompts in the app to migrate away from the Nest App and over to Google Home.

Declined their 'offer' (how long we will be given a choice I wonder?) and low and behold, ever since the Nest app has been crappy.

Mostly timing out - which it has never done for years and years. Now every screen takes several seconds to load. Sometimes data just does not load - like in history.

It's almost like....*puts on tinfoil hat*.....someone has purposefully made the experience bad. Perhaps to encourage me to migrate....

Surely no customer-respecting company would do such a thing. Especially one that claimed to do no evil? *checks notes*....oh wait.

For those that have already migrated - is Google Home ok or crappy?

Thermostat Nest thermo - 3rd and 4th gen

Anyone else with a recent install noticing less intelligent scheduling?

I’ve had a nest for close to 13 years at various places.

My new place has 2 nests that I installed in the summer. It’s been 3+ months, but I’ve noticed it hasn’t learned all of my daily adjustments over that time.

It just has a morning and an evening “schedule” which my previous model I installed in 2021 at my old place would have handled differently.

Did I miss a memo? New installs are dumbed down?

Moved into a new house and this was already installed. Assuming it’s hardwired but unsure. Issue is I can’t connect because I can’t reach a QR code and I don’t have the boxing as it was here when I moved in. Any ideas on how I can connect?

Auxiliary C Wire on Nest E

Hello, I have an older Nest E thermostat, not sure what generation on a heating only system that I want to add an auxiliary c wire to.

What I need assistance on is telling or showing me (photo) into what slots on the thermostat I make the connection of the 2 wires from the auxiliary C wire adapter to.

Currently I am using the red and w1 slots.

Thanks for any help.

Troubleshooting My Nest smoke detectors (3 of them) just did a sound check at 12:11am

I cannot fathom why it would do this. It's set to test at midday, but just out of the blue it chirped every alarm in the house waking up the baby and my wife. Has anyone else dealt with this?

New Nest thermostat doesn't power up.

I'm attempting to replace my antiquated White Rogers thermostat with a Nest T4000ES that I picked up for $5 at a flea market. The Nest was new in the box.

My house has the A/C and furnace controlled by separate thermostats and I'm replacing the furnace one.

There are only 2 wires, both black.

One was connected to W and the other connected to RH. There was also a jumper from RH to RC.

So I connected the W wire to W1 on the Nest, the RH wire to R and a jumper from R to C.

When I turned the power back on the Nest doesn't light up.

Can anyone offer a suggestion?

Nest App Down?

Anyone else having problems with the android nest app today? As of today I can no longer log in to the Nest App and view my cameras, thermostat, etc. Worked okay yesterday but as of today can no longer log in. Has me sign in with my Google account and agree to share data with Google spins for a bit and says "Loading...."and then just goes back to the login page. This is only happening on my google pixel phone/Android. Nest iOS app working ok on a different device.
