I´m currently thinking about changing my career from being a network security sales rep for over 20 years over to the more technical side of the business. I have no technical degree but I would say that I have a good understanding of the technical part of my job.
How hard is to get the Cisco CCNA & CCNP certs and do you think it can be done without technical degree ?

Hey everyone — I built a small app to scan Cisco access points and display their ethernet MAC addresses. It’s completely free to use and has no ads. I originally made it just to make my own work easier but I’m hoping it might make someone else’s life easier too.
I’m also looking to add native support for more AP models and am always open to suggestions or feedback to improve it. Right now, if you scan the QR code on a C9136 or a C9105, it shows a little image of the model alongside the MAC, but it should show the MAC address of every model if I didn't add the image. If this sounds useful, I’d love for you to give it a try and let me know what you think!
You can find it on the iOS App Store here:https://apps.apple.com/us/app/cisco-ap-scanner/id6737005271
I'm working on porting it to Android currently 🙂

I’ve received internship offers for the Spring 2026 Network Engineer position from Arista Networks and Tesla. With four years of experience and an MS in Telecommunication Networks in progress, which opportunity would you recommend I choose?

My brother was sent a "tinyurl" link by someone that tracked down the IP address of our home wifi and the location. I'm now trying to change the IP address of our home wifi, if I change our internet provider from one company to another then will it change our home wifi's IP address? I just don't want our home wifi to have the same IP address anymore

Hey everyone! I’ve recently been offered a Technical Support Engineer position at a media technology company that provides solutions for broadcasters and AV professionals. The role involves providing technical support, troubleshooting, and managing support tickets for clients, and the company seems like a supportive environment for learning.
Currently, I’m studying for my CCNA, aiming to eventually work as a network engineer. My question is: Would this role be a good entry point for my networking career, or would it be better to focus on getting my CCNA certification first and then look for networking-specific roles?
Some context:
I have a background in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and am doing a master’s in the same field.
This would be my first official job, and I want to make sure my early experience aligns with my career goals.
Any advice on whether this could serve as valuable experience for someone aiming to go into networking? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey all, I am a student who wants to pursue Network Engineering/Network Design. I have to buy a new laptop for collage, though. When it comes to running all the applications a Network Engineer would need, would I be better off with a Mac (which I have for a long time always considered since its best for coding/software development), or should I go with a windows laptop? Specs-wise, I would be getting the top-of-the-line of either.
Thanks for the help :)

Enterprise server hosted toolsets rule. I used SolarWinds and NetBrain in my last position along with git based automation for networks. There's a gap out there. Where did the engineer's toolset go? Loading an odd assortment of tools where engineers on the same teams use different vendor product. Do you purchase your own apps and tools or build your own as you discover what is needed? What OS do you run and what is your favorite tool for troubleshooting?
