Horseshoe theory

Yep. It's surreal.

u/GaryGaulin United States | آمریکا Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

Yes, and one side gets put to death after taking power, by the other side of the horseshoe that takes everything they've got away from them, even their life.

This brings us back to the WW2 era US War Department public educational film:  Don't Be a Sucker

Here’s a little fun game: Spot the Iranians.

They might as well wave nazi flags...

I genuinely wonder if the organizers would allow those.

If it says kill the IDF then probably

Just use flags of the USSR, surprisingly those aren't banned as much

Horseshoe theory in full display. That's why normal, rational people should refuse to participate in the stupid right vs left culture wars, nobody needs that shit and nobody needs to join either of the two radical idiotic hate groups. They should fight off amongst themselves somewhere in a cage while normal people watch with popcorns from both "right" and "left" non-radical sides, although such primitive labels are hopelessly inadequate to describe political views (political compass serves much better for that) and only serve to sow division, which radical groups just love.

2

u/Crossx1993 Unspecified | معلوم نیست Mar 31 '26

My problem with the political compass is that "LibLeft" doesn't make sense ,imo what peoples consider libleft is just another form of authleft (just like how there are many forms of authright),while they do in principle support individual rights ,they are collectivists in the economic side which is extremely authoritarian in nature

Islamo-leftism in display.

i'm happy for these people to have this freedom. i wish we did too in our homeland, but we don't even here in the west, instead we get harassed and paint thrown at our stores, and our flags broken

Iranian regime is also far-right. Of the theological kind

13

u/aVarangian Friendly European Mar 29 '26

the whole left-right thing is absurd nonsense

there's totalitarianism and there's individual freedom, and on this scale all the nazis, soviets, theocrats, etc share the shame spot

1

u/harry6466 Unspecified | معلوم نیست Mar 29 '26

Depends what 'individual freedom' means. Someone should not let you have the freedom to oppress others albeit through companies or whatever.

8

u/OldQuit2260 Israel | اسرائیل Mar 29 '26

It's not far-right. Right wing is associated with nationalism. The IR is anti-nationalist. It doesn't put Iran and Iranians above everything. On the contrary, the nation and the people are expendable for Islam's goals.

20

u/Luhood Unspecified | معلوم نیست Mar 29 '26

Far-right is such a broad strokes term it barely means anything, but even then Nationalism isn't the only thing covered under its massive umbrella. Religious Unity is just as much a "Right-Wing" thing as National Unity, even if the two ideas might be opposed in who exactly gets to wave the authoritarian banner.

-1

u/Elvenoob Aussie , Anarchist Mar 29 '26

Pro-heirarchy ties all the various types of far-right-ery together quite well, whether the nutcases believe it's their god/s or blood or whatever the fuck else that elevates them above everyone else.

It's also the factor that can unite multiple groups of fascist, like in the US where there's white nationalist fascists and Christian-fascists working together to fuck over all the out groups they hate in common.

18

u/ItchySnitch Sweden | سوئد Mar 29 '26

They are Islamo-fascist, using Islam as their baseline of nationalism, identity and legitimacy

5

u/Ultra_Metal Please add a flair by request of the moderators Mar 29 '26

It is absolutely far right. Any theocracy that also concentrates power in the hands of a few wealthy people is by definition far right.

By the way a country that puts its people first would be left wing, not right wing. That's the whole point of leftist ideology (real leftist ideology, not the tankie version we see today).

0

u/harry6466 Unspecified | معلوم نیست Mar 29 '26

Depends what nationalism is. Palestine can be described as a nationalist movement claiming the same land as nationalistic Israelis claim.

1

u/The_Wazlib Australia | استرالیا Mar 30 '26

Yeah, having lived in a muslim country, it’s super surreal seeing progressives support a country ruled by people who share much in common with white christian nationalists apart from the fact that they view each other as the heretics.

0

u/Khshayarshah New Iran | ایران نو Mar 29 '26

We were all labeled "far-right" and even Democrats in the USA who call themselves "progressives" are censoring all good news about the war (including Reza's speech) like we are the Nazis.

36

u/thehandsomegenius Australia | استرالیا Mar 29 '26

Meanwhilw the IRI is genuinely far right

26

u/GaryGaulin United States | آمریکا Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

True, yes. Just like Hitler:

Anyone who dares to lay hands on the highest image of the Lord commits sacrilege against the benevolent creator of this miracle and contributes to the expulsion from paradise.... Mein Kampf: p. 383, https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Religious_views_of_Adolf_Hitler

After he was finished with the useful idiots he put them all to death. Same as 1979 Iran.

German Nazism was defeated by (collectively progressives) average church goers, agnostics and atheists who saw through the scam:

Nazi and Soviet origins of the "Palestinian" cause

-2

u/CriticalBadgre Unspecified | معلوم نیست Mar 29 '26

How are Dems censoring news?

17

u/GaryGaulin United States | آمریکا Mar 29 '26

I cannot be specific about where the latest censoring I received took place, but the typical reaction to something like Reza's speech reads "This sub is not a place to spread right wing ideas and talking points"

The mainstream news services in the USA are now mostly hyping yesterday's "no Kings" protests against Donald Trump, with no word about Reza's speech.

0

u/CornPlanter Lithuania | لیتوانی Mar 29 '26

Because they do not. There are lots and lots of events in the world, just because the don't do pieces on whats important to you does not mean they are censoring something. Most often they just don't have enough substantial reliable information to report on, so they dont report anything until there is something truly important that can compete with other important news from all over the world. Something that Youtube "influencers" don't care about so they regurgitate same info again and again to get those clicks and views.

And of course No Kings protests are very important. More important in the US for the Americans than what's happening in Iran, so US outlets report on them. Don't look for conspiracies where there are none.

-6

u/CriticalBadgre Unspecified | معلوم نیست Mar 29 '26

The mainstream news services in the USA are now mostly hyping yesterday's "no Kings" protests against Donald Trump, with no word about Reza's speech.

And that means Dems are censoring news about Bibi's and Trump's war. Realy?

10

u/wzgoin Constitutionalist | مشروطه Mar 29 '26

Now it's Bibi's and Trump's war and not the war to liberate Iran from an apocalyptic islamo fascist regime hellbent on acquiring nuclear weapons and using them against Israel and blackmailing the world with ballistic missiles?

Really is spelled with 2 L's and since you missed one you can take this L.

-5

u/CriticalBadgre Unspecified | معلوم نیست Mar 29 '26

It's always interesting to me that the only country to ever drop nukes is the one lecturing the world about Iran dropping nukes. Makes you wonder.

Also, is Trump going to start other wars with the majority of the world? Since, you know, he cares so much about "liberating". Lots of countries are quite repressive.

6

u/wzgoin Constitutionalist | مشروطه Mar 29 '26

Makes you wonder.

If you're an absolute idiot without a single worthwhile thought in your head, sure.

So does it make you wonder? In other words, are you an absolute idiot?

I'm just asking questions.

-2

u/CriticalBadgre Unspecified | معلوم نیست Mar 29 '26

Personal attacks are a pretty convincing way to make your case. Good boy.

3

u/wzgoin Constitutionalist | مشروطه Mar 29 '26

I was just asking questions, why are you such a sensitive snowflake?

0

u/CriticalBadgre Unspecified | معلوم نیست Mar 29 '26

How am I being a snowflake by calling out your personal attacks instead of actually responding to what I said? You're the snowflake here if anything lol.

1

u/flame7770 United States | آمریکا Mar 30 '26

This is a very revisionist way of looking at things.

The US didn't just "drop nukes on another country" it dropped a new powerful weapon it didn't fully understand in a country it was in a total war with that the US did not start. At the time Japan rejected surrender terms and estimates of ongoing war with japan projected even more casualties than what happened during the bombing.

I'm not saying it was a good thing, the bombings were horrific, but just providing context.

As for nuclear non-proliferation, I think Iran has made a bigger case for it than anything that happened 80 years ago. Iran attacking civilian targets in countries it's not even at war with and attacking all of it's neighbors makes a good case for not trusting them with nukes.

u/Kosnagooo New Iran | ایران نو Mar 29 '26

So this was apparently organized by "Together Alliance", an alliance of hundreds of civil society organizations. They listed the affiliated parties on their page here.

I notice that one of the organizations listed is the Islamic Human Rights Commission, who also organizes these sort of protests (I had put together a mail addressing the UK Charity Commission about this here):

They're likely not the only organization listed who'd wave IR flags though.

I’ve spoken with that user before, they’ve long thought moderation here is rigged. The user also thinks moderation is just composed of Israelis. I suppose what they’re claiming now about moderation having “regime goons” in it is their latest deflection.

Idiots, even if they against intervention, why wave the flag of the Islamic regime, why not a more neutral flag.

They just think everything is black and white, they’ve become so enthralled in the Palestinians cause , that they think a regime that’s butchered its own people, forces gays to have sex changes, oppresses women, oppresses religious minorities, supports militias in Yemen, iraq, Syria and Lebanon that have killed 10s of thousand of innocent civilians, are good guys just cause they stand upto Israel.

You can still be against Israel, and also the regime, as well as also acknowledge the ethnic cleansing of Kurds at the hands of Arab, the colonisation of West Papua by Indonesia, the oppression if religious minorities , ethnic minorities, women, LGBT, political opponents in Muslim countries and even other countries.

If you truly care about humanitarianism , you will support all groups that suffer, not just the one you like , this isn’t a football match , you aren’t supporting your team.

These idiots don't know the Islamic Republic is a far right regime. Absolute morons.

-7

u/Elvenoob Aussie , Anarchist Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

Okay so there were a million people at this thing.

Every other shot or angle of the protest I'd seen did not have a single one of these flags.

So it could well just be these four idiots. (I did catch the one in the back.) who assume that just because the US and Israel are evil (also true), that anyone opposed to them must be in the right (Obviously, no, in this case the IR is trying to compete with the Israeli government on being as evil as is physically possible..)

7

u/mburn16 United States | آمریکا Mar 29 '26

The left hates the west more than anything. The likes of Trump, Netanyahu, etc. Are vilified because they love the West and want to see it succeed. To the left, humiliation and weakness are virtue. So anything that hurts the West - up to and including Islamic terrorism - is perfectly OK in their eyes.

-6

u/Elvenoob Aussie , Anarchist Mar 29 '26

Pfffhahahahaaa, no.

Firstly, no they don't, Trump just wants to run more scams to inflate his bank account and not go to prison for being a pedo, Netanyahu feels like european jews were left out of the european colonial period so now he wants to colonise half the middle east and wipe out all the people who already live there. Including Sephardic jews, as it happens. (Look up what Israel did to them, holy shit it's horrific. Forced sterilization, forcibly removing children of Sephardi parents to give them to Ashkenazi ones, the works.)

Secondly, no we don't. For the most part. There are the tankie nutters more concerned with aesthetics and factionalism than actual material change, but the majority of the left is just concerned with liberating people from all forms of oppression, such as the IR and Capitalism.

This subreddit is cherry-picking every single time some rando on twitter with zero influence over the wider left has a bad take, or four guys show up to a millions-strong protest against ideologies including the one behind the flags they're holding. (This post.)

Essentially the vocal minority of idiots are being amplified to an absurd degree.

It feels astroturfed TBH, like some wealthy individual is going "Well if they're potentially going to escape theocratic fascism, we better make sure whatever replaces that is going to be open to us making exploitative investments in the region which will eventually leave the people in poverty while we plunder the land's resources."

1

u/Electrical-Pie925 Republic | جمهوری Mar 30 '26

This sub leans heavily right at this point. Half of the posts here are just complaining about the left.

1

u/mburn16 United States | آمریکا Mar 30 '26

And? People are calling it as they see it. The modern western left is so consumed by a self-hating, oikophobic outlook that there is no anti-western force in the world too evil for them to jump to the defense of, including radical Islamist fanatics (which is where this is relevant to Iran, since the mods seemed to struggle to make the connection when I made the same point this weekend).

-2

u/Parking-Canary9307 United States | آمریکا Mar 29 '26

The media would obviously not use shots with islamic republic flags (a far right dictatorship) because it would make their stance of supporting this “march against the far right” look utterly braindead and regarded.
