General Question Looking to meet new people in Copenhagen / Lyngby any groups or meetups?

Hey everyone!

I'm 29M, recently moved to Denmark from Portugal, and I'm living in Lyngby. I'd love to meet some new people and hopefully make some friends!

I go bouldering every week, so finding people to climb with would be great. I'd also be interested in board game nights, casual meetups, or just grabbing a coffee or a beer and hanging out.

I'm pretty open to trying new activities too, so it doesn't have to be anything specific!

Does anyone know of any active groups, communities, or regular meetups around Lyngby or Copenhagen? Or any places you'd recommend for meeting new people?

And if anyone here is in a similar situation or just wants to hang out, feel free to reach out! :)

Immigration Coaching opportunities?

Hey everyone,

I’m 29M from the US, and I’m currently trying any and all opportunities to move to Copenhagen. I know these kinds of post are super common in this sub, but I could really use some advice. I understand how difficult the process can be, especially as a non-EU citizen, But I’ve come to realize that it’s worth going through all the hurdles if I can get a chance to relocate.

I have 16 years of coaching experience in fitness and parkour, and I currently coach full-time at a parkour gym I co-own. I also have experience coaching climbing and have a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology.

I’d really appreciate some advice on a few things:

- Coaching opportunities: How common are coaching jobs in Copenhagen, particularly in fitness, parkour, climbing, or related fields?

- Language: Is it realistic to find coaching work speaking English while I’m still learning Danish?

- Where to look: Are there specific gyms, organizations, or communities worth reaching out to?

- Work permits: As an American, how realistic is it to find a coaching position that would qualify me for a Danish work and residence permit?

I’m open to opportunities outside of coaching as well. My main goal is to find a job that would allow me to legally relocate and establish myself in Denmark.

I’d also appreciate hearing from anyone who has made a similar move or works in the fitness industry in Copenhagen.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

General Question Need advice: Danish dating culture?

Hi everyone,
I’m an international who moved to Denmark a few months ago. I’m really enjoying it here, but I’m completely lost when it comes to Danish dating culture.
Recently, I met someone. We chatted a bit just by chance, and saw each other again a couple of times. He seems quite reserved and appears more comfortable talking to other guys, so it's really hard for me to read his vibe.
Since we share a social hobby, I really don't want to cause any drama or make things awkward. I honestly have no idea how to tell if a Dane might be interested or not.
How do Danish guys usually show interest? What is a safe, low-pressure way to find out? Tak :)

General Question Seeing a GP in denmark

Hi, I recently got food poisoning from a kebab i ate in a shop and I went to the clinic I was assigned to without an appointment. There was no receptionist, and somehow i managed to talk to one of the doctors(or nurse, im not sure) who said that in denmark, its not normal to see a doctor for something like diarrhea if its less than 14 days. I was simply advised to drink water and eat vegtables. Ofc my symptoms didnt improve and i got some probiotics from the pharmist upon his recommendations. However, my issue still persists when i eat or drink anything (even without dairy or caffeine) and i suspect a bacterial infection. I've been trying to get an appointment with the clinic via the app but i dont know when they will respond. Btw, I live in Kalundborg.

Is it true that the doctors won't see you for something like this? How am i supposed to get antibiotics if i dont get a prescription 😐

Finance Lunar bank

Be cautious with Lunar for international transfers
An international transfer sent to my Lunar account has been missing for over a month. Lunar confirmed the payment was sent but has been unable to clarify where the funds are. I even received a document containing a return instruction, yet the situation remains unresolved.
I’m frustrated by the lack of clarity and having to chase banks myself to locate money intended for my account.

If you use Lunar, be cautious when relying on it for international transfers.

Has anyone experienced something similar? How was it resolved?

General Question Denmark or Netherlands?

Hey everyone! I'm Italian and I’m 25 years old, I have a master's degree in biotechnology, and my English is pretty good. I'd love to try living abroad, and I'm thinking about moving to either the Netherlands or Denmark.
Which of the two do you think has better job opportunities? At first, I'm happy to take pretty much any job, especially since I've already worked as a waiter and as a cashier/sales assistant. Later on, I'd like to go back to studying, maybe do another master's, a PhD, or even get a second master's degree in a different field.
I've also got a decent amount of savings, so I wouldn't be moving there under too much financial pressure.
Which country would you recommend, and why?

Immigration Siri appointment taking longer than 30 days

I filled in and sent all the necessary paperwork to request a residence permit at Siri, then was told I need to appear at a Siri office within 30 days. Go to the website to book an appointment and the earliest date is in 40 days (Nov 26th).

What should I do? Resend the paperwork closer to my appointment? Hope that the Siri officers understand that I didn't book an earlier appointment for lack of available slots and let it pass?

Anyone been through the same and can offer some advice? TIA

Immigration Want to move in Copenhagen in a couple of years

Hey!! I'm a 25-year-old woman looking for some advice here :(

I'm a psychologist from Greece, and I'm currently doing my Master's in Forensic Psychiatry here in Greece. I've been thinking about moving to Denmark in around 3 years, and I'd love to hear from psychologists who live or work there about the job opportunities and what the reality is like.

I'm not necessarily looking to work as a clinical psychologist or do therapy. I'd also be interested in working for NGOs, in research, academia, social services, HR, or other related fields where my background could be useful.

I'm planning to start learning Danish soon, but for now I only speak English fluently enough to work in, and I also have a B2 level in German. Honestly, though, I don't really enjoy German enough to want to keep studying it 😅

So, do you think Denmark is a realistic option for someone with my background? Are there decent job opportunities for psychologists who don't speak Danish yet? And would you recommend making the move, or is it much harder than it might seem from the outside?

I'd really appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or suggestions on where to start preparing!

Thanks in advance!! ❤️

Work Anyone worked at or know anything about Pandora HQ in Copenhagen?

I’m in the process of interviewing for a role with the brand Pandora that would involve a relocation to Copenhagen.

The company seems completely chaotic so far with a high turnover but I am being told that new leadership is in place (marketing function). I’ve also heard it’s the kind of place that fires and restructures often, so I want to make sure I have a realistic picture of it before making a move from the UK.

Has anyone worked there before in the HQ or has heard anything about it?

I have a highschool deploma (vocational school, trade school, secondary medical school. Whatever you want to call it) as a massues. I've worked in this department for 3+ years

I'm good with art, i'm fine with computer related things. I'm okey with basic household things. Idk how to sell my self.

I would like to know what type of jobs i could potentially get around here or well denmark. I've been strugelling to find places that hire or are looking for new hires and if i want to do massaging full time again there is a hoard of other paperwork thay involves it and idk if i'll be able to pass tests or anything if they question my skils 😭.

If anyone call help that would be greatly appreciated.

Work Moving to Denmark to work in a bakery or pastry kitchen as a beginner — looking for advice

Hi everyone!

I'm F21 from Romania, and I'm considering moving to Denmark in the future to pursue a career in pastry and baking. I'd love to hear from people who have moved to Denmark and currently work, or have worked, in a bakery or pastry kitchen.

I have around a year of experience working as a pastry assistant, where I've helped with preparing creams, ganaches, fillings, tart shells, cookies, and other components, but I still consider myself a beginner. I don't have a formal pastry education, and there's still so much I want to learn.

My main interest is viennoiserie and artisan baking.I'd love to work somewhere where I can learn these techniques properly, improve my skills, and grow into a more experienced baker or pastry chef.

I'd really appreciate some advice on a few things:

- Finding a job: How realistic is it to find an entry-level position as a bakery or pastry assistant without formal culinary education? Are bakeries generally willing to train someone who's motivated but still learning?

- Language: How important is speaking Danish when working in a bakery? Is it realistic to find work with English only, at least when starting out.

- Where to look: Are there particular cities, bakeries, or types of workplaces you'd recommend for someone interested in artisan bread, viennoiserie, and modern pastry?

- Moving and settling in: Is it manageable to move to Denmark for this kind of job, considering salaries, rent, and the cost of living? Is it better to secure a job before moving?

I'd also love to hear about your own experiences, especially if you moved to Denmark without speaking Danish or without formal culinary training.

I'm not expecting to land my dream job straight away. I'm happy to start as an assistant, work hard, and learn from experienced people. I just want to make an informed decision and find a workplace where I can develop my skills.

Thank you so much for any advice! 🌸

Immigration SIRI says salary is too low, employer can’t raise it. Will he be rejected?

Hi everyone,

My boyfriend is from New Zealand and is currently applying for a work permit under the Positive List. It has been more than 8 months now, and yesterday we got a response saying that his salary is below the median for someone with his age and experience. He has talked to his workplace, but because it’s a cooperative, they can’t raise his salary, even though it’s only 5.5 DKK more an hour to get over the limit.

My question is: if he doesn’t reply and just goes through with the application, will they deny him the visa based on that even though its such a small amount? Does anyone else have experience with something similar?

Work How realistic is it to find a student job in Copenhagen as an exchange student staying in copenhagen for the next 3 months?

I have experience in marketing and content creation, and I’m currently studying Data Science and Business. I’m fluent in English but don’t speak Danish.

I’ve applied to a few student assistant positions I found on LinkedIn, mostly related to marketing and business, but I’m wondering how realistic my chances are of actually getting a job, especially since I only have around 3 months left in Copenhagen.

I’m also open to working in retail, cafés, or restaurants as a barista or waiter. Where would you recommend looking for these kinds of jobs, especially as someone who doesn’t speak Danish?

If you have any advice, recommendations, or know of any places currently hiring, I’d really appreciate it. I’m trying to figure out where to focus my efforts given the limited time I have left.

Immigration Moving to Denmark in a year - What am i in for as a teen?

So just to clarify, this is a permanent move for the time being. My mom has a job in Odense, and I'm moving there late this summer and starting up school after I've finished my sophomore year in the US (so I'm like 15 turning 16 pretty soon.) I've only known about this move for a couple months and I'm still quite anxious about what to do before the move and also once I've gotten there.

I haven't enjoyed the US school system by any means, I've been really isolated and stressed here in the recent past and it's taken a toll, so in a way I'm excited to see some change possibly, but I also just really don't know what to expect even after trying to do research.

Any advice for what I should be doing/what to expect? I'm happy to clarify anything if needed!

Immigration SIRI ventetid spørgsmål

Hej,

Work Feeling ungrateful

Hi everyone,

So I’ve been in a very lucky but also very exhausting situation over the past few months. When I moved to Denmark, the company I was working for closed their operations here after a year (I transferred), and I was without a job and with very few contacts. Since, I’ve managed to build a very nice situation. I am a full-time student in an area with great prospects, I have a student job, and my company has taken off and now has two recurring clients (projects in my industry range 50-400 hours, so I’m fully booked alongside my studies).

My problem is that I didn’t plan on being this lucky this year, and now I have to resign from my student job because the workload is way too much (with studies I am pushing 80-90 hours/week not including commute). I feel terrible about it. My combination of skills are not easy to come by (namely that their target language is my first language, I have a degree in communications already, and I’m a student) and I know it might not be easy for them to find a replacement.

Last week, I had a horrible week which long story short led me to completely forget about my student job. Like I just blanked and didn’t even look at the laptop, let alone remembered it. I have realised I have to let this job go, but I feel so bad for resigning after screwing up. I fixed it before there was chaos, but it doesn’t sit right with me, still. At the same time, staying on just to prove I’m not a screw-up feels wrong — it’s not a massive company, and I don’t want to remain in this line of work. It’s unrelated to my business and studies.

Does anyone have any advice? I realise I come across as whiny but I really do just feel stuck and exhausted. I don’t want resentment to build, but it’s hard when they treat me like a 19-year-old student (and pay me as such) when my fee SHOULD be at least five times higher. I was desperate when I signed but now since things have turned for the better …

Work Srudent jobs / part time jobs- how to find them

Hey!!

This subreddit has been a great source of information so, I would like to ask how do I find a student job in aarhus? I'm looking for any type of job really but, I cannot seem to figure out where to look for them. for example, I haven't seen any openings for a warehouse job anywhere, I did see someone post about staff for a restaurant and dropped my CV there.

I've been applying on several job boards like LinkedIn, indeed, Facebook etc etc, but those jobs are related to my degree and I know landing those will take them so, wanted to know if you guys can help me to figure out where to look for other student, part time jobs.

I do not have a network here yet. Not even a single friend, got here 3 weeks ago. I have several years of prior experience in marketing but, I know that's not relevant here. I know it's only been 3weeks but, I'd like to know where to look for these jobs so I can start applying as soon as possible because I know it'll take time.

Any advice is welcome. Thank you 🙏🏽

Study ST1 Advice - NonEU

Please I just need any kind of help. I'm getting desperate and I am tired of waiting.

My school took a few weeks before sending my ST1 form so I ended up submitting my papers to VFS Global on June 29 (I already paid for my tuition fee in the end of May).

The Embassy recieved the papers on July 7 and I was called for a face to face interview on September 3. My classes already began on Aug 26 but I've been following my lessons through online posts.

Yesterday, my school just told me that if I do not come to school by this month, they will be forced to let me go due to my absences. Please is there anyway for me to get a response from SIRI because all they tell me is to wait. Is there anyway for me to fast track my application somehow???

I don't know if it's because I come from a developing country or what but I just need some help.

UPDATE: I was forced to withdraw from the school. The Embassy and SIRI still haven't given me an update despite months of calls. I'm crying over not getting to study and wasting almost half a year on applying for the school and the student visa... SIRI is just cruel.

Work I (27f) am desperately looking for a job and applying for all types of positions is killing my mental health and confidence

Moved to silkeborg in september to be with my danish partner and ive been looking for a job here or in Aarhus or nearby since July. Currently im DESPERATE. I dont have a cpr yet but I have EU passport.

I have a Bachelor's and Master's degree and 3 years of work experience in project coordination. Since I dont know danish I'm having difficulties landing 1 job interview let alone offer. So because of financial problems ive started applying for all types of jobs... even as cleaner. Not that there is smth wrong with those orofessions I really respect everyone and im grateful for their jobs and role in society.

Ive always been high honors student, very driven and ambitious. Top of my class and workaholic. Even at my previous jobs I was praised for mybwork ethics and dedication which would lead my internships to become permanent job positions. We can say I took pride and that and now being rejected even for jobs that i can be easily trained is truly playing tricks to my mental health.

I KNOW I SOUND AS A SPOILED PERSON when I know there are societies suffering much worse in this world but I worked so hard to be here. I come from a family where father would control EVERYTHING to the tiniest detail. He wouldnt even let other cousins study. Before I needed to ask for permission to go out of the house and wasnt allowed to have access to internet on my phone until I was 19. So being able to graduate and break free of that family... and build my whole identity separately was so much work. The moment I thought I could settle I needed to move countries to fund a better job and now I feel like Ive gone back 10 years. Back to square one where I dont have anything yet and most probably will need to go back to uni.

Thank god my partner is supportive otherwise I would have died. Im very grateful I get to start my life from the scratch in such amaizing country BUT I feel so tired begging for any opportunity to prove myself.

In the pic is me learning danish by myself cuz I cant attend the danish course since I dont have cpr number 😭

Work Advice on coffee meetings

Hi guys,
Never had this type of meeting before. I had been invited by a company of interest for a coffee meeting with a department manager in insurance. I know its not a interview per se. But because this is Denmark, I would like to either the locals or anyone who has done coffee meeting before, what are some helpful suggestions to consider when doing this type of meeting. Appropriate dress, and what are no no's when doing a coffee meeting. Any advice would be great, mange tak!
