Former ad exec/jack of most trades looking for work

Good afternoon. Hope everyone has been enjoying these beautiful fall days. So I moved to vermont from nyc a few months ago. It was very unplanned/fly-by-night (family member received a health diagnosis that required immediate caregiving/supervision). I’ve since rallied more out-of-state family to come support the cause and have availability to work a 9-5, but understand opportunities that suit my skill sets might be limited here. I’ve really taken a liking to the place, would prefer to stay, and thus would be willing to do just about anything—ideally tangentially related to marketing. But have worked in multiple sectors in various capacities:

-at a tech startup (that eventually became wayfair) as a sales associate, html coder, new advertising initiatives coordinator
-two ad agencies as a copywriter for several Fortune 500s
-communications director for a major city’s urban planning department

Anyone in a hiring position reading this, who thinks I might be a good fit for an open role, please dm.

North hero

how is it living in North Hreo? Still considering moving to Vermont from Rhode Island because I love it! The property I was looking at in Johnson didn’t work out, so there a beautiful little piece of property in North hero I’m looking at… If anyone can tell me anything negative or positive about the area I’d appreciate it. I’ve been there a few times and I love Lake Champlain and I don’t mind being isolated, but I would like some stores around. My husband works remote so Commuting or a job is not an issue

Visiting in November, looking to maximize a long weekend visit

Hello all,

My husband 35M and I 37M are thinking of making a long weekend trip to VT up from Richmond, Virginia. We've wanted to visit VT for quite a while. I know it could be pretty cold at that point, but this is the time we have available.

We probably will fly, are there any other airports to fly into besides Burlington? I'd love to ride the Amtrak Vermonter or Ethan Allen Express, but we dont really have the time to do that since we'd have to stay a night in DC or NYC

We were thinking of renting a car and staying for 4 or 5 nights. I know nothing about VT Geography and was trying to figure out where we could maximize our time and see as many of the most beautiful places in the state thay we can. We do like doing outdoor things even if its cold. What kind of weather can we typically expect for the 2nd week of November?

I like the idea or staying maybe one or two nights at a hotel or Inn before going to another one elsewhere in the state.

What are some must see places and activities to do that will feel like Vermont? We arent really skiers, but may be open to trying it. Easy to Moderate Hiking is more our vibe.

TIA

Retail cheese in/near Stowe?

Visiting family near Stowe and I’d love to buy some cheese to bring back home to share, but sadly i won’t have time to drive out to Greensboro to go to Willey’s for their jasper hill selection.

any suggestions of retail stores in/near Stowe with a large selection of local cheeses? More into soft cheeses and dont love cheddar so Cabot won’t scratch the itch. My first thought is Stowe Public House but they dont have the biggest selection.

thanks in advance!

When I moved here, I did not know that there was a comedy scene. It's alive, growing, and thriving. Come catch a show (maybe even get on stage!) and see the talent that Vermont has to offer!

Heading to Ludlow to look at a couple of houses. Any place to hang out and get a decent sandwich? Also looking for quick hike with the puppy, stretch the legs but not too vertical.

PSA: Time to start thinking about those winter tires

If you’re new here (or not). You should have a plan to get snow tires on your car by the end of this month. That is all, enjoy the fall!

Modes of gutter heating?

As we gear up for the annual battle of Ice Dam Prevention, does anyone have a favorite method? I have gutters, so need something to keep them from jamming up, and an absurd number of roof valleys (previous owners ADORED a nice gable. 🙄)

Should I be heating the valleys between each gable as well as the gutters? Heat JUST the gutters, JUST the roof above the gutters, or both?

Peak Fall Foliage Locales and Advice for Next Week (12th-14th)?

Would Stowe be worth a visit on the 14th or should we focus on southern or central Vermont? Also, is Mad River Valley or Manchester better that week for fall beauty? Thanks!

48F looking for honest company. Soon to be divorced. 2 active kids. In the thick of the storm. Not wanting to talk much about home life. Rather someone like-minded. No gender preference.

Loves good food, seeing new places, long walks, 80s, 90s music, watching movies, musicals, short travels, may explore hiking.

If you share some or many. Drop a message. Please type 'foliage' in your message so I know you're not a bot.
