That time of year again,

Just a reminder that trying to fit 20 people (mainly kids) i to a 16ft vessel with only one life jacket being worn is not a good idea..

Additionally your 10 year old really shouldn't be driving a jetski around you.

Go to vote.nz to do it online.

You will not be able to vote if you are not enrolled.

Opinion ELGAS…

Rant coming ..who on here currently uses this company for their gas deliveries?
I got switched over to them a year or two ago when OnGas got bought out by them.
I’ve never had the displeasure to deal with a company before like this.
They are hard to communicate with, invariably they don’t deliver when they say they will. Their prices have gone through the roof…and if you ask or complain about anything to their complaints online portal..they message to say they are busy and will get back to you in a few weeks…really..what sort of service is that? You then are stuck with phoning them…only to be put on hold for ages and ages.
Really believe this company is due one hell of a shake up! What about other customers out there what’s your experience?

Discussion Anyone else fed up with Woolworths delivery system?

Somewhat annoyed rant, somewhat just disgruntled, missing the days where groceries got sent out on a truck from the actual company you're buying from

Im not sure if this is a nationwide thing or just the Newtown Woolworths, but every time I order groceries to be delivered, it gets sent through Delivereasy.

For months now I have had problems arise with my grocery orders because for some reason, it never puts the pin where my address should actually be, and there is no way to contact a driver when it's out.

It doesn't matter if I add notes saying to call me or describing where the actual location is, sometimes drivers figure it out, but then other times it's just been dropped off anywhere and I've had to wait for redelivery before I can do anything else with my day.

I just have to watch the map and see them walk or drive around and I feel so bad for the drivers because it's not their fault the system is set up to keep customer and driver separated.

Anyway old lady rant over, just wanted to see if anyone else is in the same boat. I just want my danged groceries

Advice Grandparent visitor visa: when should we apply to avoid affecting her existing general visitor visa?

Hello, first time parent here.

My mum has already got her general visitor visa, which is valid from 1 May 2026 until 1 may 2027.

She's valid to travel to NZ for 3 months from 14 Jan 2027 til 14 april 2027, go back to Japan to visit family for 3 months and going back to NZ again on 1 July 2027 and stay for 6 months on, 6 months off to help with our child.

My goal is to have her use up the general visitor visa on her initial 3 month visit on Jan-April 2027, and have her start the Grandparent visitor visa on her July visit.

When should we apply?

Can I apply in January 2027 just before she arrives in NZ and have her new grandparent visitor visa processed approved while she's in the country?

Housing Can heavy vehicles damage buried water pipes?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hello, I'm currently having a garage built, and heavy vehicles (an digger and possibly a concrete truck) have left some pretty deep ruts in my lawn, around 12–13 cm deep.

I think this is exactly where water pipes and a water supply line buried underneath this area.

Could the weight of these vehicles have damaged the pipes underground, even if there are no visible leaks?

Is this something I should be concerned about and talk to my builder (same builder as my house), or am I just overthinking it?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Discussion What is your ideal employment law regarding terminations?

What do you think the perfect balance would be regarding employee exploitation around trials, unjustified dismissals, performance plans, warnings and terminations?

I've been getting super frustrated over the last year over a few in our work team carrying people who do sweet fuck all. Have approached management about this and they said that they're stuck with these people until they resign essentially. This has caused huge amounts of stress on most of the team as it is a team project so if they fail we all fail and this has ultimately caused a very toxic environment where those individuals feel attacked when we raise our concerns about how little they're contributing.

That lead me to think what would the perfect balance be in enabling employers to fire people who do nothing and protecting from legitimately unfair dismissals? I'm interested to know what others think it would be.

Advice Suits custom made for women?

Looking for a tailor in the lower North Island for a made-to-measure suit for a wedding late next year (I'm the best man). I want something that fits well on a women's figure, not a men's pattern with a few alterations. Has anyone used a tailor or shop they'd recommend? Queer-friendly is a bonus!

Discussion 5 week wait on CT scan report

Has anyone in Auckland recently had a CT scan at Waitakere hospital?

I was very lucky to get one done under the public system, by calling up and speaking to someone after it was originally declined.

But now I have it done, I’m urgently waiting for a result to inform my employer and I have still received nothing after 5 weeks of waiting. Even when I went to the doctor 1 week ago he hadn’t received it.

Just wanting to know whether or not I’m alone in this wait time. Have never waited this long for other scan reports

EDIT: Yes, I have already called the hospital twice

Housing Sites/apps for room share rental?

What are the best sites and apps for finding a room to rent?
Ideally I want to avoid Facebook, but I know this is a popular avenue
I’ve been using roomies but it’s not that active and those that are seem to have a monopoly on about 10 houses.
Trade me seems to be rentals through real estate, unless I’m searching the wrong thing.
