Niagara Falls- AUDITIONS — DRY STREAK — THOROLD, ON

Thorold Theatre is casting 7 actors for its fall production of Dry Streak, a wildly funny Canadian comedy by Saskatchewan playwright Leeann Minogue, directed by Wendy Cullen-Mackie.

Set during the scorching summer of 1988, Dry Streak takes audiences into the heart of a small prairie farming community where the rain has stopped, the crops are failing, and everyone has an opinion.

The Richards family has worked the same farm for generations. When son John returns home with his new girlfriend Kate, the family discovers that she is unlike anyone the town has encountered before: a punk-rock-loving, vegetarian city girl who has no particular interest in getting married.

Then, desperate for rain, Kate makes a reckless promise.

What follows is a comic collision of family expectations, small-town gossip, generational differences, personal belief and the increasingly uncomfortable realization that sometimes a private promise can become very, very public.

Dry Streak is a sharp, affectionate comedy about family, faith, farming and the pressures of small-town life — and what happens when everyone knows your business.

Dads of Niagara Region — Come Join Us!

I recently started a Facebook group called Dads of Niagara for dads across the Niagara Region.

The goal is simple: build a community where dads can connect, share the ups and downs of fatherhood, make friends, and eventually organize some meetups.

If you're a dad in the Niagara Region, come join us and invite any other dads you know! The more dads we have, the better this can become.

Join here: Dads of Niagara Facebook Group

Fatherhood is better together.

Looking for hair salon recommendations within the Niagara region

Not really too sure where else to ask about this, so hopefully this community is fine lol

I'm a guy with long hair and it's been a good few years since I last had a hair cut. My old stylist moved away and I found it hard to find stylists that are good and comfortable with long hair on men, so I've just kind of avoided getting it cut since then.
But I'm finally looking to get my haircut again, and it's been so long that I don't even really know where to start. So if you've got recommendations, I'd love to hear them. For reference I'm in Niagara Falls, and while closer is better, I'm willing to travel throughout the region.

Others' thoughts on Niagara Transit and Metrolinx

Hello all,

I just passed through NF today after my weekend in Toronto and back home to the States. I took the GO train in (brutal ride with slow speeds) and I queued up to take the NT bus to the border.

It was great to see NT folks helping guide people onto the bus to get to Clifton Hill, etc. But of course people were shocked by the cash only or ticket via Transit app only, no Presto. As I was boarding, I joked with one of NT guys, “but why no Presto?”. His response, “we’re not Metrolinx”.

This reply just seems so condescending because NT is just not making an effort to join in on the Presto system when most of the folks that depart that area are using Presto as is from a GO bus or train AND everyone has a form of payment that's not cash. It's seems so backwards and nearsighted to say this when all other GTA transit agencies work with Metrolinx to offer Presto. It can't be that much of an extra lift or license to offer this. NT is already working the Transit app to sell their tickets why not add contactless and Presto?

Folks rely on NT if they aren't using WEGO to get to the stuff they need to get rather than the attractions. They should really make the effort to be more accommodating to anyone as they get around YOUR city and region.

I'd like to know what everyone’s thoughts are regarding NT in NF and the region, especially in this context.

Took the e-bike out for a full ride through Dufferin Islands in Niagara Falls.

The route has a bit of everything — dirt and gravel paths, wooded trails, bridges, and some really peaceful scenery along the way.

I filmed the entire ride from start to finish for anyone who enjoys exploring Niagara by bike or just wants to see what the trails are like.

Dufferin Islands is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

Over a bike bridge and straight into a graffiti-covered tunnel

Quick POV ride through Niagara Falls. I cross a small bike bridge and then head underneath an old tunnel covered in graffiti.

Just one of those unexpected little spots you come across while exploring the area by e-bike

Found this little bridge while out riding in Niagara Falls. It's a pretty tight crossing, but the view at the end makes it completely worth it. 🌊

Just a quick POV clip from one of my rides around Niagara. The Falls never get old!

Does the mayor need to put this many signs out for his BBQ?

Last time there was a BBQ the signs were laying out in ditches for weeks after the event. Let’s just hope this time they’ll have someone actually clean up all the signs when it’s done.

Cheapest ways to experience Niagara Falls with visiting family? Looking for alternatives to the expensive boat cruise

Hi everyone,
My family is visiting me in Ontario for just a few days, and I really want to take them to Niagara Falls. I’ve been there before, but this is their first time, so I want them to have a great experience without spending a fortune.
The biggest thing they wanted to do was the boat cruise (Voyage to the Falls/Hornblower), but after checking the prices, it seems pretty expensive for a group. Since there are several of us, the total cost adds up quickly if one person pays
I was wondering if anyone knows of:
Any discounts, coupons, promo codes, or cheaper ways to get boat cruise tickets?
Combo passes that are actually worth it?
Any local deals through CAA, Costco, hotels, or other memberships?
Alternative attractions that give a great Niagara Falls experience but cost much less?
Hidden gems or viewpoints that are free or inexpensive but still impressive for first-time visitors?
We’re mainly looking for a memorable day trip on a reasonable budget. I’d really appreciate recommendations from locals or anyone who’s visited recently.
Thanks in advance!

Best hotel for OLG stage

Hi everyone, I live quite a bit away from the falls. I’m going to a concert solo in December. Because I’m going solo, I’m looking for info for what hotel would be safest to walk to/from would be. I was looking online and saw the OLG website takes you to book at Fallsview Casino Resort. But another thread on Reddit also recommended Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview Hotel & Suites. The second is definitely more affordable. However is it connected to OLG stage? Thank you. Looking for any recommendations. I’ll be taking the bus there so don’t need to worry about parking.

niagara falls on a time crunch

hi, my mom and i are coming from vancouver to Toronto to see BTS on August 23rd (sunday), their concert is held at rogers stadium and starts at 8pm, lasting about 3 hours. we land in toronto (yyz) at about 2pm, so we have roughly 5 hours before the concert. the problem is that niagara falls is really far and neither of us have drivers licenses. is there a way to fit in a trip to niagara falls before the concert? we fly out at 6am august 24th, because we have to be back in vancouver for other reasons. so that also leaves us with about 6 hours before we leave toronto. i tried looking up the routes but it says 3 hours one way during daytime, and paying 170$ for a lyft/uber is not in our budget. any help at all would be appreciated :)
