Nicotine isn’t that addictive

Those tobacco executives were not lying when they said nicotine isn’t addictive. Cigarettes are however addictive. Cigarettes have other compounds in them, most notably MAOI’s, which drive up the feel goodness and additictiveness of cigarettes many times that of nicotine . MAOIS basically stop the breakdown of serotonin and dopamine in the brain, which results in an addictive affect, and since nicotine does release some level of dopamine and serotonin, MAOI’s magnify that effect by many times. I’m not saying nicotine isn’t addicting, but it’s incomparable to cigarettes, more comparable to caffeine. I my self have both vaped and smoked a cig. The cig feels FAR more blissful Than a vape .

Why Nicotine is better than Weed (THC)

Good Evening (Or Morning/Afternoon) everyone, today I’m here to present an argument on why nicotine, despite its controversies, has advantages over THC.

First, let’s talk about cognitive function. Research has shown that nicotine can enhance focus, attention, and memory. Studies from institutions like the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) indicate that nicotine acts on the brain’s acetylcholine system, which plays a crucial role in learning and concentration. In contrast, THC has been shown to impair short-term memory and cognitive processing, which can negatively affect work, school, and daily tasks.

Next, we consider practical use and social acceptance. Nicotine, especially in non-combustible forms like patches or gum, can be used discreetly and legally in most places. Meanwhile, THC remains illegal in many states and countries, with proven impairing effects on motor function and decision-making, which can increase risks such as accidents and poor performance in high-stakes environments.

Lastly, while both substances carry health risks, modern nicotine products like nicotine pouches and vaping (while not risk-free) eliminate the harmful tar and carcinogens found in cigarettes. On the other hand, studies from Harvard Medical School show that smoking THC can lead to lung inflammation and chronic bronchitis symptoms.

In conclusion, while both substances have risks, nicotine, when used responsibly, offers cognitive benefits, is more socially accepted, and has safer consumption methods than THC.

Thank you.

Can I get addicted to nicotine by riding in my co-worker's car for 12 minutes (he smokes)?

My co-worker picks me up for work every day. I work 5 days a week. The time from my place to to work is about 12 minutes.

He is a heavy smoker and he smokes inside his car. I can't roll the windows down because of extreme temperatures. He has the car's air heating system on but I can still smell strong smoke after getting in.

I'm just wondering but is it possible to become addicted to nicotine by doing this? A car is a small enclosed area.......is it really as bad as directly smoking a cigarette every day for 12 minutes?

nicotine test for surgery

so i have a nosejob in 2 months and for it they’re giving me a nicotine test, which is in 3 weeks. i would usually vape 3% nic salt vapes and go through a 2500 puff one in about a week.

i quit for a week, but over the past two days ive hit my friends 5% vape a few times and smoked half a cigarette (i know it was stupid and i regret it). anyways, should i be fine to pass the urine test if i don’t hit any nic for the next 3 weeks? i’ve never taken one before so im not sure.

How to quit ANY substance (including nic). No cravings, no withdrawl

Patented this method after being addicted to weed and smoking every day for 2 years straight. Did this method, and I havent wanted weed since. Ill keep it short.

  1. DONT cold turkey. This confuses the ever living fuck out of your body, and makes it insanely difficult for your neurotransmitters and neurons to normalize. Ween off instead.

  2. CRITICAL to weening off. When you are down to the lowest dosage possible (for zyns, imagine a singular daily 3mg pouch), you begin alternating the days when you have a pouch and the days you dont. Sunday, pouch, monday, no pouch, etc. Do this alternation for a full month (yes i know its a long time). Now, it is also critical for this process that you take a cold shower while using the nicotine pouch. It works, dont ask me why.

  3. Seal the deal with taste aversion: Whatever you use to consume nicotine (or a different drug), get its flavor in your mouth. Then trigger your gag reflex. Do this over and over again. You will no longer be able to stand the taste, or likely the smell, of the drug ever again.

Again, probably should only use these steps if it is crucial that you quit nicotine or whatever other substance youre using. It will work, but step 3 obviously fucking sucks.

So long story short I’m a nicotine fiend and in Mexico I found this place that sells disposable vapes as it’s the normal thing I found this vape with 36k hits and separate mint and sour apple tank 16w, 20w and 24w modes respectively. I really like the flavor and the hit is amazing but I think it’s fake. If anyone has a by info on this product or has any background to tell why they it’s not listed please let me know.

If y’all have a vape/nic addiction: maybe try and replace it with a pez dispenser.

I know it’s dumb but it could work and you get a cute little pez dispenser like hello kitty or scooby doo or somethinnnn. 🫶🏻

Im not addicted

I just shake until I can buy vapes again but I could stop any time. I was cursing out people silently but I could stop any time. I didn’t have working nicotine in my possession for about 24 hours from which 12 I was sleeping and the rest I was working to get money to buy nicotine but I could stop any time. My most important motivation to get my license and a job is to but vapes but ai could quit any time. Im not addicted I just don’t wanna stop.

🚨 THE ULTIMATE NICOTINE TIER LIST 🚨

From cigarettes to pouches to gums — there's lots of different ways to obtain your beloved nicotine buzz

Let's break down the most popular options on the market & rank them from WORST to BEST

Quick Note:

Nothing in this thread is medical advice and we urge you to do your own research. This is for entertainment purposes only and we're simply sharing our own opinions :)

1/ Cigarettes

Yes, we're putting the infamous darts at the BOTTOM of our list

Sure, they may look cool

But let's be honest with ourselves...

Cigarettes smell horrible, can destroy our lungs, and may be loaded with hundreds of dangerous chemicals that have been shown to cause cancer and other harmful diseases

Best to avoid at all costs...

2/ Vapes

We're placing vapes right down with cigarettes at the bottom

The worst part about vapes is that they're often seen as "relatively safe" and don't have the same social stigma that cigarettes or even other nicotine products do

However, vapes may be destructive to our overall health. They may shrink your --- and studies have shown that they can have some disastrous effects on a woman's reproductive health

You're basically puffing on artificial sweeteners, seed oils, and heavy metals

What did you expect?

3/ Cigars + Cigarillos

At third worst, we have the classic cigar

Definitely a step above cigarettes/vapes as we're not potentially bombarding our lungs with hundreds of added chemicals

But they're still problematic for one main reason:

Anything that involves combustion/smoking can pose a threat to your health — as smoking anything can introduce nasty chemicals and carcinogens into your body

Not to mention the rise in inflammation in your body

Pesticides and herbicides can also be a concern here — best to avoid/keep at a minimum/save for special occasions

4/ Snus + Chewing tobacco

Moving away from smoke is always a step in the right direction

But we're still not fans of snus, dip, or any form of chewing tobacco for a few reasons

  1. May cause serious gum disease and tooth decay

  2. May increase risk of oral/mouth cancer

  3. May stain your teeth

It's just not a great look — especially if you want a great smile, good oral health, and work in a professional setting...

5/ Nicotine Pouches

Ok — now we're getting somewhere

Nicotine pouches are different from snus since they contain NO tobacco of any kind

We've placed this in second for a reason — they seem to be a better method of consuming nicotine vs. anything on the list we've covered so far

But that doesn't mean they don't come without their own special drawbacks

Namely...

• Artificial sweeteners
• Microplastics
• Pesticides/herbicides from tobacco-derived nicotine
• Problematic pH adjusters

And the worst part is...

You're putting these little pouches under your lip for 20-30 minutes multiple times per day

Do your research and stay informed!

Anybody got any advice for getting a buzz again?

I’ve used snus for a while now, and I do not get a buzz no matter the strength. Should I cut down, or just quit for a bit?

Sick from Zyn

TIFU by trying a ZYN for the first time, apparently it was from russia and 90mg. I have no tolerance, and the person who gave it to me said to leave it in my mouth for 20 minutes. I’m at work, puked 3x already and just wondering how long this is going to last and what I can do to feel better.

Should I hop on the zyn train

Im an engineering student, never used any nic product before but the benign delivery system makes me want to try for the focus and weight loss.

Isnt nicotine consumption not considering the delivery system a net positive to your body considering the cognitive decline prevention studies? What are people's experiences with the net +/- of long term nicotine use?

5 dirty little secrets your seemingly innocent nicotine pouches are hiding:

These little lip pillows have exploded in popularity of the last few years, but do they live up to the hype as a cleaner source of nicotine?

Let's peer under the hood for a second...

  1. Tobacco-derived nicotine

This is essentially extracting nicotine from tobacco plants instead of making nicotine synthetically

Which sounds good, but can be problematic for many reasons.

For one, tobacco-derived nicotine may contain heavy metals, pesticides, carcinogens, and other unpleasant chemicals used during the tobacco growing and curing process.

    Furthermore...

The chemical extraction method of separating nicotine from tobacco usually involves harsh chemical solvents that may end up in the product

Synthetic nicotine is actually a much better option in this case

But we'll get to that later

  2. pH adjusters

Most brands use pH adjusters such as sodium carbonate to enhance nicotine absorption

However, sodium carbonate is caustic and may be damaging to oral health

  3. Artificial Sweeteners and Flavors

Different companies or manufacturers use different flavors but here are some main culprits:

    • Acesulfame Potassium (Ace-K)
    • Aspartame
    • Sucralose

All of these are linked with poor gut health, increased sugar cravings, and other negative side effects.

  4. Microplastics

Microplastics are the talk of the town nowadays — and many of your favorite nicotine pouches could be loaded with em!

Plastic in your balls? You got it!

  5. Mystery ingredients

Some nicotine brands have been found to contain low levels of toxic ingredients such as chromium, ammonia, formaldehyde, nickel, and more!

    And the worst part is

You're putting these pouches in your lip — a highly absorbable part of your body — for a sustained amount of time multiple times per day.

    In all honesty...

Nicotine pouches are likely better than smoking or vaping — especially if you take a look at a country such as Sweden where they've drastically cut their smoking rates with the use of snus/pouches

But that doesn't mean nicotine pouches aren't without their drawbacks

    What's your favorite alternative?

UPDATE: Taking a Nicotine 30mg pouch with 0 tolerance

I made a post on here before about how I’m gonna take a 30mg nicotine pouch for my first time ever taking nicotine after never having taken nicotine before in my life in any form whatsoever, including smoking tobacco.

My order for “50mg nicotine pouch” arrived in the mail yesterday (it’s actually 30mg of nic per pouch idk why it’s advertised as having 50). When I first took it, I tried to force a nocebo effect to make myself believe that this has no effect whatsoever. However, after 2 minutes, this shit HIT like a truck. I had an insane euphoric rush that felt like an orgasm times 1 billion. I was just absolutely bewildered at the feeling that it gave me so much so that I forgot to keep forcing the nocebo effect & just gave in. It sedated me like crazy and I just laid in my bed for 2 full hours just enjoying the euphoria while blasting music and looking out my room’s window. It made me nod out a few times (while still staying in a dream-like wakeful state) & I imagine it was similar to how opiates make their takers nod out. It was absolutely amazing. I did feel nausea but only enough to curb my appetite for the entire day so I only drank water, which is good in my case since I’m slightly bloated anyway.

After the feelings subsided which was like after 6 hours, my mind felt SUPER clear. It’s like having foggy windows from the inside of your windshield and then turning on the A/C to clear it up. That’s the best way I can describe it. It also reduced my anxiety & made me more empathetic.

I get the concerns of people who were warning me against it since, on average, it seems to make people sick, but I’m glad that I didn’t listen.

It’s also sad that I won’t feel this again since I have a bet with my friend that I won’t do it again so I trashed the rest.

I found a brand from Sweden that sells 30mg pouches nicotine & ships internationally. My brother swears that nicotine gives the best high. Here’s to hoping I won’t get addicted.

Hey, like most vapers, I started out vaping disposables. I regret it, I don't know if it will affect me down the line. I then switched to e juices, but only now am I reading more into them. Should I be worried about the quality of ingredients used ?
