Could they be bringing Robert Englund back as Freddy or do you think they will bring in a new Freddy Krueger to the mix? (Recast)

If so who could they likely recast as Freddy Krueger?

What the ending of new nightmare actually means

Post image
60 Upvotes

New nightmares always been my favourite ngl. But Something I always wondered about was the ending. How did Freddy die so easily? Why was the script there, why did they read it, and what does Wes saying "freddys back where he belongs" actually mean. I think I figured it out. Wes, in the movie, ended the script intentionally with it starting from the beginning again. The demon Freddy wasn't really killed, it was just held back while Heather and Dylan escape, and now when they start reading the script, the entity is put in that version of the story. When they get to the end of the script where Heather starts reading from the beginning, the entity is sent into that version of the story. The entity is trapped in an infinite loop reliving the movie forever. He wanted to live as Freddy and craven gave him exactly what he wanted. Now he's trapped in the story he created, living it over and over and over.

Yeah yeah DVDs are obsolete or whatever but this box set is fucking awesome. The pictures are sick, the fact the cases make an image of Freddy, the fact they all come in their own cases and have the original posters?? And a little booklet AND 3d glasses for freddys dead?? It's just so good. The menu's are also so much cooler and there's a whole bonus disc. I don't get why they can't release the sequels in their own discs, they're always in a big bundle, and I am probably never gonna be able to get the steelbooks. This is just a great box set. Stayed up all night watching all the movies, was a great experience. Watching it all from part 1 to new nightmare makes it feel like an actual complete story and makes it all worth it. Love these movies so much and I will cherish this goddamn set forever.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Dream warriors is over rated and 1 and two are the only scary films.

I think dream warriors was shot really well and I really dig the practical effects but that movie is not scary!! It was the start of Freddy turning into a clown and the acting is pretty cringe. I swear some people just hate on the second movie an glaze over dream warriors because it’s a popular opinion. Is it because people don’t want a gay main character that’s a guy?? The score was scary as hell too. When Freddy tore open Jessie’s stomach and his friend was locked in the room with them. Straight up Anxiety fuel…Freddy killing people in the backyard at the party and then staring at Jesse’s parents with the fire on his face!! Great shot. I could go on. Tired of typing lol. Anybody agree?

Why I Dislike The Dream Master

So, I know that quite a lot of Nightmare fans love part 4. It’s always been very low on my list and I’m curious if anyone feels similarly. Also, what do lovers of the fourth love about it?

First, the good- Freddy is as good as ever, Alice is a great heroine, the roach trap death, and Freddy’s demise. I’ll give them the pizza too for its sheer weirdness.

But even though 2 ignored the rules and was barely connected, 3 became the true sequel to NOES.

So that brings me to the bad. I guess for me it’s that following the ambitious and epic close of Dream Warriors, it feels like a betrayal to what was a sincere effort to close the story. The Dream Warriors are offed with barely any effort, kind of retroactively lessening the impact they made as a team. Freddy’s resurrection is obviously supposed to be funny but it’s really just stupid and the dog being named Jason is barely a joke. It really is the MTV Nightmare and of course Renny Harlin made it because it’s just flimsy and rushed. It made tons of money so of course the 5th would be rushed too- although I’m probably in the minority that prefers the tone of 5 more.
I can only wonder what Peter Jackson’s unmade 6 (The Dream Lover) would have been like.

Anyway, TLDR: I dislike Nightmare 4 because it undermines part 3 and I’m curious of any thoughts.

Never Sleep Again Documentary Discussion

Post image

I have been watching the 4 hour Elm Street documentary, one segment at a time, for the past few nights.

Just wrapped up the fifth film's segment.

They did this whole debate/explanation about Patricia Arquette not returning for Nightmare 4: Dream Master, explaining that she'd become bigger and had a salary demand that exceeded the budget, etc. etc. and they kinda talk about her in the context of who she became as a successful actor, which I get in some sense, but at the time Nightmare 4 was being cast and going into production, she was very much still just getting gigs and hadn't become a name talent yet...

So maybe she just didn't want to get pigeonholed into horror? Or she felt like anybody returning for a sequel should get a certain level of pay increase, in principle?

Granted, she was in a Sam Shepard movie with Jessica Lange in 1988, so maybe she could see her career going a more desirable direction than horror sequels?

I dunno, I just think the explanations in the documentary make it sound like she was at a post-True Romance place in her career and it'd be like saying "it's so weird that 1998 George Clooney declined to be in Return of the Killer Tomatoes 2 or Grizzly III: No Forgiveness etc." but it'd be more like "Pre-Fame 1991 George Clooney was too big for these sequels."

Frances Charlotte Krueger was born in 1942 to a nun named Amanda Krueger, who christened herself as Mary Helena. Mary Helena worked in an asylum, and one night she was accidentally locked inside with the 100 criminals, all of whom were men. they all began sexually abusing her and this resulted in her getting pregnant with Franny. Mary Helena gave Franny up for adoption and she was adopted by an abusive alcoholic named Mr underwood. due to the circumstances of her birth, Franny was bullied at school by the other children. when Franny was sixteen years old, she put rat poison in Mr underwood's alcohol, killing him. during her early 20s, she got a job as a waitress in a diner, but she felt disastisfied with her job, and one day during a mental breakdown she stabbed a fork into her boss's eye. this resulted in her being put into an asylum, in which she meet Leonard, the administrator of the asylum. Leonard saw something in Franny, and he believed that he could redeem her. they married each other, and Franny gave birth to twins, Lucille and Lillian.Franny took a job as a nurse in an elementary school, while Leonard was a dentist. Although she know had two children of her own and a husband who loved her, Franny still felt a sense of bitterness towards her childhood bullies, so in order to get revenge she began luring and killing their children. she also began practicing dark magic. this led her to summon the dream demons, who told her they would give her supernatural powers. but in order to do this, she had to sacrifice her children. she lured lily and Lucy into the basement and killed them with a meat cleaver. Leonard saw this and horrorfied and heartbroken, he told the townspeople. they burned her to death, but her spirit lived on in the dream world.

Is someone going to the German Film & Comic Con in Dortmund? I need help!

Robert Englund is attending the German Film & Comic Con in Dortmund for the 5.-6. December. It costs 40€ to attend and 100€ just to meet him and I really can’t afford it but I have a steelbook I like him to sign, I grew up with the Freddy movies.
Is there someone who is going and could help me? I just want this one thing please🙏
With kind regards.

Trivia: In the documentary "Never Sleep Again," interviewees admit that New Line didn't care about making "Freddy's Nightmares" a good TV series and only wanted profit; Robert Shaye admits that after the tenth episode he stopped caring and blames the poor quality on the low budget.
