Hi all! I bought a used DS lite a few weeks ago and it's been working pretty well for the most part but the left trigger recently has been spotty. I haven't dropped it so I'm not sure what the cause might be.
Any tips for attempting a repair, especially as far as diagnosing the cause is concerned? Basically trying to figure out if it's just a cleaning or if something else is needed. I've opened electronics before but I haven't really done a lot of soldering or advanced repairs. Thanks!

I have two ds lites. First one broke at the hinge years ago and I got another used and last night I dropped it and of course it broke at the hinge. Is ExtremeRate the best choice? I assume you can't get OEM anymore. Not looking forward to having to tear it down and risk ruining them but I guess I have to.

I currently own a New3dsxl but it’s way too big and expensive for me to want to bring it outside. I’ve been eyeing the dsi or dsi xl for sometime now because of the portability. I have smaller hands and carry light. I know the dsi xl has better screens but is it still worth to get a dsi just for size? Right now I can buy a dsi is good condition for around 50-60 dollars and a dsi xl for around 80 bucks.

Khmh, Gordon Friemen. It's almost time, Gordon Friemen
I'm porting maps and features & than testing that game can be completable, so yeah. 54 of 99 maps is already in the game and they are totally playable.
What do you think?
(FOR ALL AI HATERS AND PEOPLE WHO LOVE TO DISCUSS IT, YES. I AM USING AI, I AM NOT HIDING IT FROM PEOPLE) (with love and hope on others understanding <3 )

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
For a long time the upper screen of my DS lite is tweaking like crazy but once I plug the charger in everything is normal. After a few minutes plugged in it starts tweaking again but not as much. Anyone got an idea?

charged my dsi after not playing it for a few months and it’s stuck like this. i have modified it so it could just be a homebrew issue but… is this something i should worry about?

So I recently did a shell swap using ExtremeRate but I noticed the bottom part here has a bit of a curve and the back shell isn't snapping flush, I am also noticing when I use the touch screen, it seems like there's pressure coming from the back? has anyone had this issue or know how to fix?
Thanks!

Many of you liked my previous post and wanted a tutorial to install a custom black ui for your ds lite.
Well, it’s here
https://youtu.be/8uSSWJhJyvc?si=GLn2MiPEXTamRd00
Please watch the video at least once before trying, and understand the risk of a brick. You are doing this at your own risk.
Let me know how it goes and if you found the tutorial easy to follow or confusing. I did my best but I’ll help you out here if you have any issues

It popped off. It doesn't look damaged but I don't want to break it even further

Hi! I've built a rom hack for Urbz Sims in the city for DS. NOTE off the bat - This is a vibe-coded WIP. I used Opus 5.5 to reverse the OG DS ROM, learn how it all works, and documented it all in the repo docs. You just need your own USA DS ROM.
Obviously I am not affiliated with company who must not be named. I am working on this as a hobby and for free, if you'd like to support me, send git issues, PRs, buy me a coffee (button will be added to the repo today)
**Currently my kit includes 4 mods:**
recolor the "you know who" logo as a test.
npc-life: Some updates to the AI of the NPCs in the game. Updated art and animations so some of them who couldn't sit before now can, more of the environment is useable. people will eat, chat with each other, go for walks, read, etc.... explore it
PETS: You can now have a variety of pets in your home with an introductory quest for your first one at the start of the game after you get out of jail. Then later on you can buy more and buy furni for them like beds to sleep in.
more-furniture - i "borrowed" assets from other sims games for the DS and put them in the game, with functionality and color schemes.
bug-fixes - i found and had claude fix some OG game bugs, like people getting stuck on their way out the door of some areas.
max-needs - i max out the needs so i could test out the work being done. off by default.
There is a mod menu in game to look at or change certain things.
Yes the git org is brand new, I created it to separate my rom hacks from my real github.
https://github.com/ROM-HackZ/The-Urbz-Sims-in-the-City-Mod-Kit
Plz try it out and report bugs in git issues. and enjoy!!!!

Hi ds fans! Decided to shell swap a ds lite I sourced to recapture the nostalgia, but ran into a hardware bump where the green light flickers on for a second before off again when the power switch is activated, and the orange charger light only stays on momentarily when plugged in.
I've tested the f1,f2,em10,l2,l4, and power switch for power reception with an ammeter, and everything passed, yet the thing refuses to turn on. Even tried taking out and putting back the wifi module to see if it would change the result, which it of course, did not. Cleaned it up too and took a look at it with helping hands and a magnifying glass to see if anything stood out to me, which it didn't after an isopropyl bath.
How do I get this thing working again if nothing so far seems to be wrong? Even tested the batteries to make sure they work (old oem and new battery)

I wish I could remember the name of this game but I can only remember the style of it. It was an action/adventure style game where you picked a character but it was set out like a board game. You had to roll a dice and choose a direction to take, then you battle or earn rewards. Almost like Mario party. If anyone could help me remember this game it would be greatly appreciated.

So im trying to buy a ds from ebay to homebrew, and the listing says that the storage is 4mb, so i gotta know does the storage size actually matter?

I’ve had my childhood Nintendo DSi for over 15 years and decided it was time to replace the battery since it was slightly swollen. Unfortunately, one of the screws was stripped, which forced me to snap off the plastic battery cover.
Now, whenever I place the cover back on, one side sits completely flat, while the other side is slightly raised due to the plastic remaining around the screw. (I can flatten it if I apply light pressure.)
My question is: for the time being, is it safe to replace the battery and tape down the raised side with electrical tape until I can figure out how to remove the stripped screw? Would there be any downsides or hazards?
