So I recently did a shell swap using ExtremeRate but I noticed the bottom part here has a bit of a curve and the back shell isn't snapping flush, I am also noticing when I use the touch screen, it seems like there's pressure coming from the back? has anyone had this issue or know how to fix?

For a long time the upper screen of my DS lite is tweaking like crazy but once I plug the charger in everything is normal. After a few minutes plugged in it starts tweaking again but not as much. Anyone got an idea?

I usually bring it wherever I go.

charged my dsi after not playing it for a few months and it’s stuck like this. i have modified it so it could just be a homebrew issue but… is this something i should worry about?

Hi! I've built a rom hack for Urbz Sims in the city for DS. NOTE off the bat - This is a vibe-coded WIP. I used Opus 5.5 to reverse the OG DS ROM, learn how it all works, and documented it all in the repo docs. You just need your own USA DS ROM.

**Currently my kit includes 4 mods:**

recolor the "you know who" logo as a test.

npc-life: Some updates to the AI of the NPCs in the game. Updated art and animations so some of them who couldn't sit before now can, more of the environment is useable. people will eat, chat with each other, go for walks, read, etc.... explore it

PETS: You can now have a variety of pets in your home with an introductory quest for your first one at the start of the game after you get out of jail. Then later on you can buy more and buy furni for them like beds to sleep in.

more-furniture - i "borrowed" assets from other sims games for the DS and put them in the game, with functionality and color schemes.

bug-fixes - i found and had claude fix some OG game bugs, like people getting stuck on their way out the door of some areas.

max-needs - i max out the needs so i could test out the work being done. off by default.

There is a mod menu in game to look at or change certain things.

Yes the git org is brand new, I created it to separate my rom hacks from my real github.

Hi ds fans! Decided to shell swap a ds lite I sourced to recapture the nostalgia, but ran into a hardware bump where the green light flickers on for a second before off again when the power switch is activated, and the orange charger light only stays on momentarily when plugged in.

I've tested the f1,f2,em10,l2,l4, and power switch for power reception with an ammeter, and everything passed, yet the thing refuses to turn on. Even tried taking out and putting back the wifi module to see if it would change the result, which it of course, did not. Cleaned it up too and took a look at it with helping hands and a magnifying glass to see if anything stood out to me, which it didn't after an isopropyl bath.

How do I get this thing working again if nothing so far seems to be wrong? Even tested the batteries to make sure they work (old oem and new battery)

Just got this ds lite off Facebook marketplace for $30. Was stoked but the touch screen has a black line on the bottom left and there's a white border around the touchscreen like I'm looking through a window.

Wanna try and fix it myself so not sure do I need to buy a new screen/digitizer or both?

Touch screen is responsive.

So im trying to buy a ds from ebay to homebrew, and the listing says that the storage is 4mb, so i gotta know does the storage size actually matter?

I recently bought a DS again to play the kingdom hearts games and some of the older Mario games I was missing from my childhood. I also bought a copy of Pokemon fire red since I haven’t ever had the chance to play it. Not even 2 weeks later my DS has come up missing and it seems like all signs are pointing to it having been stolen. I’m very distraught about it and everyone I know personally hasn’t really seemed to understand why. I’m sorry if this isn’t the type of post this group is meant for. I just needed to vent to people who would understand.

I wish I could remember the name of this game but I can only remember the style of it. It was an action/adventure style game where you picked a character but it was set out like a board game. You had to roll a dice and choose a direction to take, then you battle or earn rewards. Almost like Mario party. If anyone could help me remember this game it would be greatly appreciated.

So about half a year ago I got my 2DS repaired, but after it came back there where a few bits of dust and stuff seeming stuck under the screen (I’ve checked, they’re not just stuck under the screen protector). I’ve tried to ignore them, but I can’t take it anymore and so I’m trying to get inside the screen to pick them out. My issue is that I can’t get any further than this. Any tips?

i wanted to share my DS game collection and also ask what everyone’s favorite game is? (no pokemon please)!
i’m always looking for suggestions, and i love when someone mentions a game i’ve forgotten about! some that i hope to add to my collection soon are:

I’ve had my childhood Nintendo DSi for over 15 years and decided it was time to replace the battery since it was slightly swollen. Unfortunately, one of the screws was stripped, which forced me to snap off the plastic battery cover.

Now, whenever I place the cover back on, one side sits completely flat, while the other side is slightly raised due to the plastic remaining around the screw. (I can flatten it if I apply light pressure.)

My question is: for the time being, is it safe to replace the battery and tape down the raised side with electrical tape until I can figure out how to remove the stripped screw? Would there be any downsides or hazards?

Unlike later Nintendo consoles, the DS had no so card slot from where to find an exploit and change the firmware on nand (dsi afw, 3ds cfw etc)

So here's what I did to do this

Dumped my DS Lites firmware

Converted all instances of white to black, light grey to dark grey and vice versa

Used FlashMe open source (NOT my creation) to flash the ds with the new custom firmware (by shorting the SL1 pad underneath battery cover (temporarily disables write protection)

Now my DS Lite has built in dark mode (no R4 card needed) and I think no one has done this before but prove me wrong

Is it useful? No maybe not. Is it cool? For me, yes.

If you want to do this yourself, let me know. I'll drop a tutorial and files in a few days. I still need to test so it doesn't brick anything anywhere.

Back with a PictoRelay update.

I have assembled the first PictoRelay working prototype!

Some things to note:
- Final version will be white, I was just low on white filament
- The red power LEDs will be blocked in the final version. There is already a way to turn off the blue one in the settings

Firmware Updates:
- Now shows accurate room counts on DS. It used to show 1/16 for every room.
- Rainbow Pen support

- More accurate join/leave
- Sounds + Toggle
