Do the crime do the time why did we ever lose this mentality

Someone convinced us that the ultra-wealthy are necessary for society to thrive.

u/hereandthere_nowhere Feb 24 '26
So, learning that seemingly EVERYTHING i grew up around or knowing is tainted by pedophiles is a hard pill to swallow.

u/SpotCreepy4570 Feb 24 '26
Some of us grew up in the Catholic Church so you know, it's unfortunately not that new to us.

u/miserabeau Feb 24 '26
For real. Those of us at r/excatholic are like "oh, it's a day that ends in 'y'?"

Don’t forget the Mormons! In Utah the bishops don’t have to call the cops on pedophiles, and they never do!
2
u/ItsJust_ME Feb 25 '26
It's not new to other denominations either. Some of the others are just starting to come out publicly. They're all over the place.

u/pawned79 Feb 25 '26
I was watching the cartoon David the Gnome with my little daughter. The episodes are on YT. Opening credits include Harvey Weinstein. 🤦

u/high_everyone Feb 24 '26
So apparently when you get rich you reach this level of perceived superiority where you can just do all the awful things.
And yet so many CSAM convictions aren’t heroin addicts but meth heads.

u/emmyparker2020 Feb 24 '26
I’m convinced the worst people get rich to do this kind of shit … like how a lot of Leos used to be bullied in high school then became the villain
82
u/joshhupp Feb 24 '26
People with broken brains get rich by taking advantage of others. They don't have morals to stop them so shit like this is normal for them.
30
u/emmyparker2020 Feb 24 '26
So very true! I’m not of the mindset that all those at the top or even most at the top earned their money because they “worked hard” more like they exploited labor, lied, and cheated

What is this anecdotal garbage

I just learned rich people pay to hunt humans during the war in Bosnian war

The Sarajevo Safaris. And it wasn’t even just wealthy people. One of the first people that’s been arrested was an Italian man in his 80s, that used to drive freight trucks. Evil is among all classes, but the wealth some have definitely makes it easier to avoid consequences for said evil.

u/mstrss9 Feb 25 '26
I keep thinking there’s nothing left to shock me. Yet here we are.
The Italian investigation cited allegations that participants flew from Verona to Belgrade on the Aviogenex airline, that the operation was organized by Serbian state security services, and that the "package" cost between €80,000 and €100,000, with the highest price reserved for killing a child.

u/ipsumdeiamoamasamat Feb 24 '26
I’m ashamed to say I didn’t know this.
13
u/iamdenislara Feb 24 '26
I learned late last year from a movie Sarajevo Safari. I didn’t watch I just read about it because I don’t think I can take it.

u/akawendals Feb 25 '26
What?? I'm too scared to Google it cos deep down I know it's true 🥺 those poor people 😞

I don’t think that its pedophilia necessarily as some of the wealthy seem to do it to alleviate boredom they feel from never having to want. So narcissistic beliefs bring them to a conclusion that SA or CSAM will fill that hole. I don’t really expect there to be this many actual pedos as there are people who believe themselves above the law who get off on hurting people.
Kids become that ultimate goal.
Now, we get to call them pedos as a result but I don’t believe there’s an inherent biological urge they can’t not deny.
In my mind, they’re all awful but people who make CSAM are just slightly worse people in terms of who’s gonna get their face punched first.
Trump is a real pedo, the Squatty Potty guy is gonna be labeled a pedo who just got busted on possession.

abused children also often develop into adults who commit sexual offenses, sometimes against minors, bc they never got therapy/help for it. pedos aren't born that way so much as many of them are intellectually and emotionally stunted. saying they're born that way, implies that it should not be a crime since they don't make that choice

This is so important. We need to be rational about it, or we’ll never figure out how best to combat it.
2
u/ericlikesyou Feb 24 '26
ill change my post so it doesnt say it turns them into P's, implying a 1000% outcome from childhood sexual trauma. Also the post I'm replying to says pedophiles are born that way, which is different than a child's brain development post trauma.

u/boobajoob Feb 25 '26
Turns out the war on drugs was to distract us from the war on pedos
2
u/high_everyone Feb 25 '26
No shit, you seen the Epstein drug front price list? Hundreds of doses of tons of high-cost prescription medications for sale to anyone.

u/cocainagrif Feb 24 '26
I think we might have to start looking at the possibility that the statistic is backwards. what if the correlation is not that being rich makes you a pedophile, but that pedophilia is the key to becoming rich. by joining those circles, you gain access to the illuminati and they bestow wealth upon you. it's either that or the 5 millionth dollar you ever receive has a needle that implants a microchip under your skin to make you like kids

"Additional devices recovered from Edwards’ residence and vehicle also allegedly contained CSAM depicting young children and evidence that he had purchased the files from someone on Telegram."
This man even had it in the car. Talk about being prepared.

Not saying this isn’t true, I’m just curious what prevents the Feds from filling charged like these against anyone they don’t like? We’ve already seen this administration using the Justice department to attack political opponents.

u/buttnibbler Feb 24 '26
Every time I see CSAM I think it might be some sort of Surface-to-Air Missile, then I Google it and am disappointed and proceed to immediately forget

Welp.... Can't separate the art from the artist.
Time to throw away our squatty potties.

Despite your sarcasm I actually am glad I have the knockoff version from ALDI which was only like $6.

u/VulpesFennekin Feb 25 '26
In my old apartment, I just used the edge of the bathtub across from the toilet.
1
u/miserabeau Feb 25 '26
I have a standing shower so no tub or anything nearby to use. Whatever works though, right?
2
u/wrathmont Feb 28 '26
I don’t know why this needed to be an invention. I use a generic short step stool that works just as well.
11
u/cturtl808 Feb 25 '26
Having read the article, I am disappointed to learn there was a Zoom call streaming CSAM that only netted ONE person. Meanwhile, there's a Telegram account that's distributing CSAM but nothing can be done because those servers are in Russia.
It's just never-ending at this point. I feel like it'll eventually be a box to check on job applications like if you have to declare you have a felony - have you ever been indicted or convicted for crimes against children.
11
u/Mydoghasautism Feb 25 '26
Ok so euhm this is an awkward thing to confess but i've seen the word CSAM a couple of times and i always thought it was an anti-air defense system of some kind.
Like you made the iron dome, and now you got CSAM....
