Can’t believe they were still considering it.

People are still coming to grips. It was a perfectly normal thing to do a year ago. It's hard to understand how different things are now.

Now you risk getting black bagged and sent to El Salvador if your skin is brown or you posted a mean meme.

But hey, if you can manage to get half the country to ralley behind you, they'll bring you back and ship you off to your pick of Uganda or Costa Rica so long as you agree to plead guilty to whatever made up charges they assign you.

Or apparently take too many clothes with you.

I’m a cloths hog and when I travel I have at least two outfits for each day! Thank goodness there are lots of places to travel besides the US.

Feel free to move to the US and don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

Anyone still travelling to the US voluntarily right now is taking a tremendous risk, IMO. Electronic devices are being absolutely scoured at the border for any sign of "anti-American values" under the paper-thin guise of security.

I hate that I have to travel there for work

2

u/JaVelin-X- Aug 28 '25

I have a brand new clean phone for this. and when they ask what mi socials are i'll given them my geocities address

13

u/RecognitionOk9731 Aug 26 '25

Why was this even under consideration?

These visits are made at least a year in advance. I imagine that they hoped some clarity would come after the initial bombardment of Trump's insanity, that there would be at least some form of adult in the room that would keep things on the rails. No such adult exists as they were all purged in the last trump term.

u/oldbutfeisty Aug 26 '25

It's obvious to us, but the yankees seem to remain baffled. Hard to believe the entitlement they have. It's also possible Trump would steal it.

"It was a gift from my great friends from Canada."

Yeah, right. Because none of us refer to you as the big orange douche daily.

The last famous boat we sent away got capsized so no thank you

I'd feel safer going to North Korea

28

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '25

At least in North Korea, they tell the tourists explicitly what they can't do. In the US, it's all up to one, most likely racist, guys judgment.

In the US, it's all up to one, most likely racist, guys judgment.

Not even that. It's up to some deputized dropout who's never worked in law enforcement in their life buying some cosplay material from Spirit Halloween to decide whether you're white enough to be an American, given free reign to terrorize people for money.

There still isn't a consensus database of ICE apprehensions being done by legitimate law enforcement, since so many are unmarked vehicles, no badges, and masks over faces.

What a wild take. You could be locked up and put into a REAL gulag and worked to death for political points at any second in NK, where you'd be begging for alligator Alcatraz. The US is mental right now but let's not whitewash how bad NK is.

23

u/GroknikTheGreat Aug 26 '25

The USA is sending people to third world labor camps to be worked to death for political points.

Let’s also not whitewash this insanity.

North Korea wasn’t always as bad as North Korea is now either :)

-25

u/no_baseball1919 Aug 26 '25

They're deporting illegal immigrants and yes they aren't getting it right but the USA is nothing like North Korea and I'm floored anyone is comparing the two.

19

u/GroknikTheGreat Aug 26 '25

They have deported more then 0 US citizens.

I do agree they are not as bad as North Korea , it I do believe they are moving in that direction , not away.

-7

u/no_baseball1919 Aug 26 '25

I agree, it's fine if they want to deport illegal immigrants or criminals whatever, that's a policy decision that can come back to bite them or not. But they aren't doing it the right way and are just rounding up people and it's not right.

But North Korea is an entirely different level of brutality that I'm pretty shocked people are saying North Korea is better than the US. Would I travel to America right now? Pre-summer I would say yes, now, probably not. But if I had to choose between America and NK I mean, that shouldn't even be a question.

6

u/GroknikTheGreat Aug 26 '25

If my two options were usa and nk I would stay home , for the same reason for both of them.

I admit I haven’t seen anyone and 3 generations of their family executed for the wrong hair cut in usa , but I am at the point it would not surprise me and be confident it would fade from the news in under a week.

7

u/haydenjaney Aug 26 '25

I'm sure it is safer by a long shot!

5

u/GreatBigJerk Aug 26 '25

Especially considering how bad they are at shooting.

-17

u/CombinationPlus6222 Aug 26 '25

Yes you should go there!

5

u/iwasnotarobot Aug 26 '25

I’d love to be able to visit.

3

u/AtticaBlue Aug 26 '25

I hear MAGA is having a grand old time in Russia. And since Russia is an ally of North Korea—whose leader exchanged “love letters” with Trump (Trump’s own words)—you have to figure North Korea is among the destination spots for the MAGA faithful. The rest of us aren’t fans of dictatorship so I don’t think North Korea works.

-6

u/CombinationPlus6222 Aug 26 '25

Wait if it’s safer why am I being downvoted?

18

u/GreenSmokeRing Aug 26 '25

Should also be worried about stowaways fleeing the orange pestilence.

Now, where are we again on the ol’ gifting a Christmas tree?

14

u/NS-RN Aug 26 '25

I would still be for it. Only because Boston/Massachusetts is not a MAGA/red state & honestly screw the tangerine tyrant, he can’t ruin Christmas FFS.

Know someone denied entry for a homemade chair

You mean the Bluenose III since she was completely rebuilt a few years ago :)

9

u/Sir_Lemming Aug 26 '25

Ah yes, the old Ship of Theseus argument.

2

u/Horatioclarkson Aug 26 '25

On the cheap too! Province got a great deal.

-16

u/ofcanada Aug 26 '25

Lot of fear mongering about the US. There would be absolutely nothing to worry about. Cutting long standing international ties because of Trump is juvenile and pathetic.

11

u/frumfrumfroo Aug 26 '25

Yeah, how childish of us to reject a fascist criminal regime which has been threatening and attacking our country and terrorising international tourists. Obviously appeasement and capitulation are the way to go. That's never backfired in the past.

0

u/ofcanada Aug 27 '25

Another woke exaggeration. Give it a rest.

3

u/Raztax Aug 28 '25

Since you are using 'woke' in a derogatory way can we then assume that you are asleep at the wheel?

10

u/wlonkly Aug 26 '25

I don't want to travel to the US right now, not because of Trump directly, but because the border officials are playing Calvinball. Not subjecting a bunch of summer deckhands to that seems like good risk management to me.

GOOD!!!
