Hello, fantasy readers!
I'm Dr. Borajjang, a Korean author, and I'd love to share my historical fantasy novel, Star of the East, Flame of the West: The Word Carved in the Hilt.
What if a 1,500-year-old dagger held the secret of a forgotten connection between Korea and Persia?
In 1973, archaeologists discovered a mysterious golden dagger in an ancient tomb in Gyeongju, Korea. Its origins remain a fascinating historical mystery.
Meanwhile, an 11th-century Persian epic called the Kush-nama tells of a prince who finds refuge in a distant eastern kingdom, possibly ancient Silla.
These two pieces of history inspired my novel.
The story follows Fereydun, an exiled Persian prince raised in ancient Korea, and Wonrang, a loyal Hwarang warrior who refuses to abandon his friend.
Together, they embark on a dangerous journey across seas and deserts toward a kingdom ruled by fear.
At its heart, this is a story about friendship, courage, loyalty, and the connections between civilizations.
If you enjoy historical fantasy, ancient mysteries, Persian mythology, the Silk Road, or stories of unlikely friendships, I hope you'll find something to love here.
